Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé de production de laitier contenant de l'oxyde de titane et de la fonte brute en provenance d'ilménite. Le procédé est caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend les étapes consistant à : a) préréduire l'ilménite en présence d'un agent réducteur dans un réacteur de préréduction pour métalliser au moins une partie du fer dans l'ilménite ; b) éliminer éventuellement l'agent réducteur n'ayant pas réagi et la gangue de l'ilménite préréduite ; et c) fondre l'ilménite préréduite dans un four à arc électrique pour séparer l'oxyde de titane en une phase de laitier fondu et la fonte brute en une phase de métal fondu. L'invention concerne également une installation de production de laitier contenant de l'oxyde de titane et de fonte brute en provenance d'ilménite et concerne également un laitier contenant de l'oxyde de titane et une fonte brute.
