Abstract

A cotton wool cleansing pad (1) includes a panel (2) of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50-400g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid or the like. Preferably a number of the pads (1) are formed in a interlinked strip of pads (1) joined edge to edge by tear-away links and mounted in a dispensing pack.

Claims (28)

1. A cotton wool cleansing pad (1), including a panel (2) of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 - 400g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
2. A cotton wool cleansing pad (1) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the panel (2) of hydroentangled cotton material has a dry weight in the range 100 - 300g per square metre.
3. A cotton wool cleansing pad (1) as claimed in claim 2 wherein the panel (2) of hydroentangled cotton material has a dry weight in the range 200 - 300g per square metre.
4. A cotton wool cleansing pad (1) as claimed in claim 3 wherein the panel (2) of hydroentangled cotton material has a dry weight in the range 200 - 250g per square metre.
5. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads (1) as claimed in any preceding claim joined together edge to edge by tear-away links (4).
6. A cleansing strip as claimed in claim 5 which is arranged in a stack (5) in a zig-zag formation, said stack (5) being contained in a pack (10) having a dispensing opening (11) through which the cleansing pads (1) are delivered for use.
7. A cleansing strip as claimed in claim 5 which is arranged in a roll (20), said roll (20) being contained in a pack (10) having a dispensing opening (11) through which the cleansing pads (1) are delivered for use.
8. A process for forming a cleansing pad or strip of cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim, including:

carding cotton material to form a web of carded cotton material, delivering the web of carded cotton material to a hydroentangling station, layering and hydroentangling at a desired hydroentangling pressure the carded cotton material web to form a hydroentangled cotton web of a desired strength, removing excess moisture from the hydroentangled cotton web, impregnating the hydroentangled cotton web with the cleansing liquid, and forming the pads or strip of pads from the impregnated hydroentangled cotton wool web.
9. A process for forming a pack of the cotton wool cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim the process including:
forming an elongate strip having a plurality of interlinked cleansing pads, moistening the strip of cleansing pads with the cleansing liquid, stacking the cleansing pads in a zig-zag formation, and enclosing the stack of cleansing pads in a sealed pack.
10. A process as claimed in claim 9 which includes during moistening of the cotton wool cleansing pads over-wetting of the strip of cleansing pads and then squeezing out excess moisture from the strip of cleansing pads.
11. A process as claimed in claim 9 which includes delivering the cleansing pads through a liquid bath after hydroentangling of the cotton material forming the cleansing pads for impregnating the cotton material with the cleansing material.
12. A process as claimed in claim 9, the process including:
forming an elongate perforated strip having a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads, stacking the cotton wool cleansing pads in a zig-gag formation, wetting the stack of cotton wool cleansing pads with the cleansing liquid, and enclosing the wetted stack of cotton wool cleansing pads in a sealed pack.
13. A process as claimed in claim 8 including the step of forming the strip of cleansing pads into a roll.
14. A cotton wool cleansing pad, including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 100 - 300g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
15. A cotton wool cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 200 - 300g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
16. A cotton wool cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 200 - 250g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
17. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links, each cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 -400g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
18. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links, each pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 100 - 300g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
19. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links, each cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 200 -300g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid.
20. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links, each cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 -400g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid, said cleansing strip being arranged in a stack in a zig-zag formation, said stack being contained in a pack having a dispensing opening through which the cleansing pads are delivered in use.
21. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links, each cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 200 -300g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid, said cleansing strip being arranged in a stack in a zig-zag formation, said stack being contained in a pack having a dispensing opening through which the cleansing pads are delivered for use.
22. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links, each cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 -400g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid, said cleansing strip being arranged in a roll, said roll being contained in a pack having a dispensing opening through which the cleansing pads are delivered for use.
23. A cleansing strip comprising a plurality of interlinked cotton wool cleansing pads joined together edge to edge by tear-away links each cleansing pad including a panel of hydroentangled cotton material having a dry weight in the range 200 -300g per square metre impregnated with a cleansing liquid, said cleansing strip being arranged in a roll, said roll being contained in a pack having a dispensing opening through which the cleansing pads are delivered for use.
24. A process for forming a cleansing pad or strip of cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim, including:
carding cotton material to form a web of carded cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 - 400g per square metre, delivering the web of carded cotton material to a hydroentangling station, layering and hydroentangling at a desired hydroentangling pressure the carded cotton material web to form a hydroentangled cotton web of a desired strength, removing excess moisture from the hydroentangled cotton web, impregnating the hydroentangled cotton web with the cleansing liquid, and forming the pads or strip of pads from the impregnated hydroentangled cotton wool web.
25. A process for forming a cleansing pad or strip of cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim, including:

carding cotton materiel to form a web of carded cotton material having a dry weight in the range 200 - 300g per square metre, delivering the web of carded cotton material to a hydroentangling station, layering and hydroentangling at a desired hydroentangling pressure the carded cotton material web to form a hydroentangled cotton web of a desired strength, removing excess moisture from the hydroentangled cotton web, impregnating the hydroentangled cotton web with the cleansing liquid, and forming the pads or strip of pads from the impregnated hydroentangled cotton wool web.
26. A process for forming a cleansing pad or strip of cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim, including:
carding cotton material to form a web of carded cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 - 4.00g per square metre, delivering the web of carded cotton material to a hydroentangling station, layering and hydroentangling at a desired hydroentangling pressure the carded cotton material web to form a hydroentangled cotton web of a desired strength, removing excess moisture from the hydroentangled cotton web, impregnating the hydroentangled cotton web with the cleansing liquid, forming the pads or strip of pads from the impregnated hydroentangled cotton wool web, and arranging the pads of the cleansing strip in a stack in a zig-zag formation.
27. A process for forming a cleansing pad or strip of cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim, including:
carding cotton material to form a web of carded cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 - 400g per square metre, delivering the web of carded cotton material to a hydroentangling station, layering and hydroentangling at a desired hydroentangling pressure the carded cotton material web to form a hydroentangled cotton web of a desired strength, removing excess moisture from the hydroentangled cotton web, impregnating the hydroentangled cotton web with the cleansing liquid, forming the pads or strip of pads from the impregnated hydroentangled cotton wool web, arranging the pads of the cleansing strip in a roll.
28. A process for forming a cleansing pad or strip of cleansing pads as claimed in any preceding claim, including:
carding cotton material to form a web of carded cotton material having a dry weight in the range 50 - 400g per square metre, delivering the web of carded cotton material to a hydroentangling station, layering and hydroentangling at a desired hydroentangling pressure the carded cotton material web to form a hydroentangled cotton web of a desired strength, removing excess moisture from the hydroentangled cotton web, impregnating the hydroentangled cotton web with the cleansing liquid, forming the pads or strip of pads from the impregnated hydroentangled cotton wool web, mounting the strip of pads in a pack having a dispensing opening through which the cleansing pads are delivered for use.
