Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système de commande pouvant être connecté à plusieurs imprimantes (30). Ces imprimantes (30) utilisent des moteurs d'impression (30) de configurations identiques ou différentes et utilisent des protocoles de données identiques ou différents. Chaque imprimante (30) comprend une tête d'impression, commandée par le moteur d'impression qui lui est associé (30), permettant de marquer un substrat. Au moins une desdites têtes d'impression et ledit substrat se déplacent l'un par rapport à l'autre à une vitesse qui n'est pas commandée par ledit système de commande de ladite imprimante (30). Ledit système de commande comprend : a) un processeur d'images (20) pouvant générer des données d'image dans plus d'un protocole représentant des pixels individuels ou des vecteurs devant être marqués sur ledit substrat; b) un générateur de signaux de synchronisation (24, 72) permettant de générer des signaux de synchronisation représentant la position relative de ladite tête d'impression et dudit substrat; et c) une interface permettant la connexion dudit processeur d'images (20) et dudit générateur de signaux de synchronisation (24, 72) audit moteur d'impression (30) et permettant le transfert desdites données d'images et des signaux de synchronisation vers ledit moteur d'impression (30). Ladite interface s'adapte à différents protocoles de moteur d'impression, ce qui permet l'interface entre divers moteurs d'impression (30) et le même système de commande.
