TITRE: Protège-mains pour usage lors de l'ouverture d'huîtres DOMAINE DE L'INVENTION
Cette invention est reliée au domaine des protège-mains utilisés 5 lors de l'ouverture d'hultres et autres mollusques.
ART ANTÉRIEUR
Plusieurs systèmes pour ouvrir les hultres existent et comprennent généralement une cavité pouvant pincer une hultre et un levier pour ouvrir celle-ci. Certains ont particulièrement attiré notre attention:
0 CA 1,034,722, Finkelman, 18 juillet 1978 illustre un ouvre-hultres comprenant une double planche en L sur une tahle. Il a deux rainures d'un côté d'un L et une Gavité au centre pour permettre d'y déposer une huître à ouvrir. L'hultre est maintenue en place à l'aide d'un couvercle qui maintient l'huître et qui comprend un garde pour prévenir les blessures. Cet instrument est plutot gros et ne peut etre rangé aisément dans un tiroir de cuisine ou être utilisé directement par des clients aux tables de restaurants. L'instrument ne peut-être utilisé dans la main.
CA 1,125,961, Desaulniers, 22 juin 1982 montre un ouvre-hultres consistant en une planchette avec un mur arqué pour retenir une huître et un levier amovible fixé à une extrémité de la planchette. L'huître est placée contre le mur et le levier est déplacé jusqu'à ce qu'il arrive en contaGt avec l'huître et que la pression du levier force l'huître ouverte.
Cet appareil est gros et doit être fixé de façon permanente et donc il s'avère peu pratique pour une Guisine domestique. Il est difficile d'atteindre le point d'ouverture d'une huître parce que jamais à la même position pour chaque huître: l'hultre est portée à bouger: auGun outil manuel n'est présent pour couper le muscle de l'huître.
OB~ECTIFS ET AVANTAGES
C'est un objeGtif général de l'invention de fournir un protège-mains à
utiliser lors de l'ouverture des huîtres et qui soit léger et facile à

Le protège-mains pouvant aussi etre utilisé directement à la table et pouvant se ranger facilement dans un tiroir de cuisine. De plus, qu'il soit fabriqué de façon à pouvoir aller au lave-vaisselle, tandis que 5 la planche de bois peut difficilement y aller.
Plus précisement de fournir un protège-mains comprenant deux demi-coquilles soit une demi-coquille supérieure et une demi-coquille inférieure, se Joignant à l'aide d'un bras de pivot et d'une ouverture transversale, tous deux situés sur la partie arrière de leur partie 0 respective, rendant ainsi l'assemblage et le désassemblage du protège-mains très simple, la partie supérieure ayant une ouverture à une extrémité et une forme conique terminée par un garde exposé à l'autre; la partie inférieure ayant un bras de pivot à une extrémité et une forme plate terminée par 5 un garde évasé à l'autre, la combinaison de la forme conique et de la forme plate permettant la préhension d'une hultre lors de son ouverture et les deux gardes évasés permettant la protection de la main.

Dans la description qui suit et dans les dessins qui l'accompagnent les 30 chiffres semblables renvoient à des parties identiques dans les diverses l l~ l q8906 . do~ 96-0~ -10 2 figures .
La FIG.1 montre un protège-mains 10 comprenant une demi-Goquille supérieure 20 et une demi-coquille inférieure 22. La demi-coquille supérieure 20, ayant vers l'arrière une extention 32 nantie d'une 5 ouverture transversale 24, a une forme conique pour se terminer par un cou en entonnoir 21 à l'avant supérieur 34. La demi-coquille inférieure 22 comprend, à l'arrière 36, un bras de pivot 26 ayant une première aile 23 --FIG.3A-- d'un Zed dont l'âme 27 sert de pièce d'éloignement à une seconde aile 25 du Zed, qui coïncide avec l'arrière 36 de la demi-o coquille inférieure 22. La demi-coquille inférieure 22 comprend aussi une cavité plate 30 qui couvre la longueur de la demi-coquille inférieure 22 et se termine à l'avant inférieur 38. L'aile 25 relie l'âme 27 à l'arrière 36 de la partie inférieure 22, l'âme s'étendant à 90 par rapport à la demi-coquille inférieure 22 et la première aile 23 est parallèle et opposée à la seconde aile 25 et a un trou 28 -FIG.3B à son extrémité permettant de le suspendre à un crochet ou à son cou.
Le prinGipe d'utilisation du protège-mains est fort simple: il suffit d'insérer le bras de pivot 26 -FIG.4 dans l'ouverture transversale 24 pour former une pince avec les deux demi-coquilles 20 et 22. Une 20 huître 40 est alors insérée dans le protège-mains 10 ouvert. Le protège-mains 10 est alors fermé pour retenir l'hultre 40 en place et l'utilisateur peut maintenant insérer un couteau dans l'huître en toute sécurité. Pour Ge faire il est nécessaire que l'âme 27 du bras de pivot 26 soit plus longue que l'épaisseur de l'extension 32 de la demi-25 Goquille supérieure 20. Ceci laisse à la pince un jeu nécessaire pours'ajuster à la taille de l'huitre 40 manipulée, la cavité plate du bas permettant le glissement de l'hultre et la forme conique de la demi-coquille supérieure 20 permettant la prise de l'huître. La deuxième aile 25 doit aussi avoir un bonne longueur pour que le protège-mains 10 ne 30 se désassemble pas de lui-même lors de la manipulation. Il est aussi 1 b I q8906 do~ 96-1~4-10 3 -- 217~006 préférable que la demi-coquille supérieure 20 soit pTus petite que la partie inférieure 22 pour bien saisir l'huitre 40, les huitres n'étant pas toutes de grosseur uniforme. La demi-coquille supérieure 20 est concave pour que l'huitre 40 reste dans le creux; la demi-coquille 5 inférieure 22 est plutot droite pour que l'huitre 40 glisse jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit stable dans le creux de la demi-coquille supérieure 20 et qu'elle y trouve deux points d'appui. La stabilité de l'huître 40 empêche le couteau de glisser.
L'utilisation d'un matériau plastique pour la construction des demi-0 coquilles doit etre conforme aux normes en vigueur chez les organismes régissant les produits touchant l'alimentation.
SOMMAIRE ET RAMIFICATIONS
Un protège-main pour utilisation lors de l'ouverture d'hultres et autres mollusques, comprenant:
- deux demi-coquilles adaptées de façon à se faire face, une demi-coquille supérieure et une inférieure, chaque demi-coquille comprenant un avant et un arrière, I'avant comprenant un moyen de garde faisant saillie de la demi-coquille, le moyen de garde de la demi-coquille supérieure et le moyen de garde de la demi-coquille inférieure formant 20 un garde continu destiné à protéger la main d'un utilisateur, la demi-coquille supérieure arrière comprenant une extension qui comprend une ouverture transversale. La demi-coquille inférieure arrière comprend un bras de pivot (26) définissant un Zed comprenant une ame et deux ailes fixées à l'ame en direction opposée, une première aile (23 ) située dans 25 un plan parallèle à un plan d'une seconde aile (25) coïncidant avec l'arrière de la partie inférieure, l'assemblage des demi-coquilles supérieure et inférieure faisant que l'ame (27) traverse l'ouverture transversale à un angle de 90 et la première aile se dispose parallèlement à l'extension.
,o Les demi-coquilles sont quasi-rectangulaires, I'extension est aplatie et lI lq8906.doG 96-04-1() 4 la longueur de l'âme est supérieure à l'épaisseur de l'extension aplatie, la deuxième aile ayant une longueur suffisante pour empêcher les demi-coquilles de se désassembler trop facilement. Les demi-coquilles quasi-rectangulaires s'élargissent légèrement à partir de l'arrière jusqu'à
5 l'avant pour former une forme conique lorsqu'assemblées. La demi-coquille inférieure est plutôt plate permettant le glissement d'une huître plutôt plate en dessous et la demi-coquille supérieure est arquée et destinée à donner deux points d'appuis de l'huître au dessus. La demi-coquille inférieure comprend un rebord suffisant pour garder le jus de o l'huître, la demi-coquille inférieure servant de Gontenant pour déguster l'huître sans échapper le jus. Le rebord est de plus ou moins 6 mm d'épais. La deuxième aile du bras de pivot comprend une ouverture de suspension pour accrocher au mur ou attacher au cou d'une personne.
Il est bien entendu que le mode de réalisation de la présente invention qui à été décrit ci-dessus, en référence au dessin annexé, a été donné à
titre indicatif et nullement limitatif, et que des modifications et adaptations peuvent être apportées sans que l'obj et s'écarte pour autant du cadre de la présente invention.

TITLE: Hand protectors for use when opening oysters FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to the field of hand protectors used 5 during the opening of oysters and other molluscs.
PRIOR ART
Several systems for opening oysters exist and include usually a cavity that can pinch an oyster and a lever to open this one. Some have particularly drawn our attention:
0 CA 1,034,722, Finkelman, July 18, 1978 illustrates an opener including a double L-shaped board on a tahle. It has two grooves on one side of an L and a Gavité in the center to allow you to place a oyster to open. The oyster is held in place with a lid who maintains the oyster and who includes a guard to prevent injuries. This instrument is rather large and cannot be stored easily in a kitchen drawer or be used directly by customers restaurant tables. The instrument cannot be used in the hand.
CA 1,125,961, Desaulniers, June 22, 1982 shows an opener consisting of a board with an arched wall to hold an oyster and a removable lever attached to one end of the board. The oyster is placed against the wall and the lever is moved until it comes in contaGt with the oyster and that the pressure of the lever forces the oyster open.
This device is large and must be fixed permanently and therefore it proves impractical for a domestic kitchen. It is difficult to reach the opening point of an oyster because never at the same position for each oyster: the oyster is ready to move: auGun tool manual is present to cut the muscle of the oyster.
OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS
It is a general object of the invention to provide a hand guard to use when opening oysters and which is light and easy to ll ~ lq8906.doc 96-01-1 () ~ 174006 use, allowing its use as much in restaurants as in our kitchens. The hand guard can also be used directly at the table and can be easily stored in a kitchen drawer. Moreover, that it is made so that it can be dishwasher safe, while 5 the wooden board can hardly go there.
Specifically to provide a hand guard comprising two half shells either a top half shell and a half shell lower, Joining with a pivot arm and an opening transverse, both located on the rear part of their part 0 respective, thus making the assembly and disassembly of the guard very simple hands, the upper part having an opening at one end and a shape conical ending with a guard exposed to the other; the bottom part having a pivot arm at one end and a flat shape terminated by 5 one flared guard to the other, the combination of the conical shape and the flat shape allowing the gripping of a oyster when it opens and the two flared guards for hand protection.

In the following description and in the accompanying drawings the 30 similar figures refer to identical parts in the various ll ~ l q8906. do ~ 96-0 ~ -10 2 figures.
FIG. 1 shows a hand guard 10 comprising a half Goquille upper 20 and a half-shell lower 22. The half-shell upper 20, having towards the rear an extension 32 provided with a 5 transverse opening 24, has a conical shape to end in a funnel neck 21 at the upper front 34. The lower half-shell 22 includes, at the rear 36, a pivot arm 26 having a first wing 23 --FIG.3A-- of a Zed whose core 27 serves as a part to distance a second wing 25 of the Zed, which coincides with the rear 36 of the half o lower shell 22. The lower half-shell 22 also includes a flat cavity 30 which covers the length of the half-shell lower 22 and ends at the lower front 38. The wing 25 connects the core 27 at the rear 36 of the lower part 22, the core extending to 90 by compared to the lower half-shell 22 and the first wing 23 is parallel and opposite to the second wing 25 and has a hole 28 -FIG.3B at its end allowing it to be hung on a hook or on its neck.
The principle of using the hand guard is very simple: just insert the pivot arm 26 -FIG.4 into the transverse opening 24 to form a clamp with the two half-shells 20 and 22. A
20 oyster 40 is then inserted into the open hand guard 10. The protected-hands 10 is then closed to hold the oyster 40 in place and the user can now insert a knife into the oyster completely security. To do this it is necessary that the core 27 of the pivot arm 26 is longer than the thickness of the extension 32 of the half 25 Upper cheek piece 20. This leaves the pliers a clearance necessary to adjust to the size of the oyster 40 being handled, the flat cavity at the bottom allowing the sliding of the oyster and the conical shape of the half upper shell 20 allowing the oyster to be taken. The second wing 25 must also have a good length so that the hand guard 10 does not 30 does not disassemble itself during handling. The upper half-shell 20 is concave so that the oyster 40 remains in the hollow; the half shell 5 lower 22 is rather straight so that the oyster 40 slides until that it is stable in the hollow of the upper half-shell 20 and that it finds two points of support there. The stability of the oyster 40 prevents the knife to slide.
The use of a plastic material for the construction of the half 0 shells must comply with the standards in force in organizations governing food products.
SUMMARY AND BRANCHES
A hand guard for use when opening oysters and the like molluscs, including:
- two half-shells adapted to face each other, one half upper and lower shell, each half-shell comprising a front and a rear, the front comprising a guard means making projection of the half-shell, the means of guarding the half-shell upper and the guard means of the lower half-shell forming 20 a continuous guard intended to protect the hand of a user, the half rear upper shell including an extension which includes a transverse opening. The rear lower half-shell includes a pivot arm (26) defining a Zed comprising a core and two wings fixed to the web in the opposite direction, a first wing (23) located in 25 a plane parallel to a plane of a second wing (25) coinciding with the back of the lower part, the assembly of the half-shells upper and lower causing the core (27) to pass through the opening transverse at an angle of 90 and the first wing is arranged parallel to the extension.

The almost half-shells rectangular widen slightly from the back to 5 the front to form a conical shape when assembled. The half lower shell is rather flat allowing the sliding of an oyster rather flat below and the upper half-shell is arched and intended to give two points of support for the oyster above. The half bottom shell has enough rim to keep juice o the oyster, the lower half-shell serving as a Gontenant to taste the oyster without spilling the juice. The edge is more or less 6 mm thick. The second wing of the pivot arm includes an opening hanging lamp to hang on the wall or attach to a person's neck.
It is understood that the embodiment of the present invention which has been described above, with reference to the accompanying drawing, has been given to indicative and in no way limitative, and that modifications and adaptations can be made without the object and deviating from it of the scope of the present invention.
