Abstract

"CONVERSOR ANALóGICO PARA DIGITAL" A demanda sobre conversor A/D de muito alta resolução pode ser eliminada utilizando o conversor inventado A/D de ponto flutuante quando a resolução é utilizada simplesmente para cobrir a faixa dinâmica de sinal ao invés da precisão de quantização. Isto pode ser conseguido produzindo m(>1) sinais analógicos amplificados com amplificações 2^ (i-1)k^ onde k= constante e i = 1, 2, ...m. O máximo sinal amplificado linearmente será selecionado por meio de um circuito lógico depois da amostragem e convertido para um código de dados digitais de n-bits por meio de um conversor A/D. Ao mesmo tempo o circuito lógico produz um código de marcação lógico de m-bits. O código de dados de n-bits (u), o código de marcação lógico de m-bits (v) e a constante k são combinados para formar uma saída digital final uv^ k^ com n+(m-1)k bits. Desta maneira a resolução e faixa dinâmica podem ser projetadas de maneira independente. Diferentemente da solução amplificador logarítmico conhecida, o conversor A/D de ponto flutuante fornece uma saída de código digital linear diretamente sem utilizar qualquer tabela de consulta. Para sinais grandes e pequenos, as resoluções efetivas são mantidas constante (ou quase constante para ser preciso). é também muito útil trabalhar com uma faixa de entrada pequena imposta por uma voltagem de suprimento de baixa potência uma vez que sua faixa de entrada virtual é muito maior do que a real. Como um conversor A/D, sua distribuição de precisão ao longo da amplitude do sinal é mais racional, uma vantagem similar àquela de uma representação de número de ponto flutuante.
