A presente invenção se refere a vidros de alto índice de refração, tendo a seguinte composição de óxidos, expressa em percentagens por peso: SiO~ 2~ 29 - 35, B~ 2~O~ 3~ 0,5 - 5, Li~ 2~O 0,5 - 3, Na~ 2~O 4 - 8, K~ 2~O 0 - 2, PbO 28 - 40, BaO 4-14, La~ 2~O~ 3~ 4 - 12, TiO~ 2~ 3 - 8, ZnO 0 - 8, ZrO~ 2~ 0 - 4, Nb~ 2~O~ 5~ 0 - 5, com: Li~ 2~O +Na~ 2~O+K~ 2~O 5,5 - 9, seu uso para a produção de segmentos para lentes corretivas multifocais; e lentes corretivas multifocais incorporando pelo menos um tal segmento em sua estrutura.
