Abstract

AND PROCESS FOR INSERTING STATIC AND DYNAMIC IMAGES IN A LIVE VIDEO TRANSMISSION <D>. A live video insertion system efficiently places static (186) or dynamic images in a live broadcast. The system initially identifies natural landmarks in the video scene that can be automatically identified and tracked as the camera's field of view panes and passes through the scene. Landmark locations are mathematically modeled and stored as a constellation of locations in a mathematical grid. An arbitrary resistance point, preferably not necessarily coinciding with a selected natural reference point, is located inside or without the grid and used as a source for the purpose of inserting the static (186) or dynamic image into the camera's field of view. For still images, it is often desirable to place a border or border of the image to be inserted at the reference point. For dynamic inserts, the distance between the reference point and the inserted dynamic image is automatically changed from frame to frame to make it appear that the image is moving or changing, or both.
