Abstract

a invenção refere-se a um processo para a produção de etileno glicol incluindo as etapas de: (i) reagir, em um reator, a uma temperatura na faixa de igual a ou maior do que 170°c a igual a ou menor do que 270°c, pelo menos uma porção de uma fonte de carboidrato na presença de hidrogênio, um solvente, um catalisador homogêneo, cujo catalisador homogêneo contém tungstênio, e um catalisador heterogêneo, cujo catalisador heterogêneo contém um ou mais metais de transição dos grupos 8, 9 e 10 da tabela periódica dos elementos, dando etileno glicol e um catalisador heterogêneo gasto; (ii) regenerar o catalisador heterogêneo gasto por remoção de pelo menos uma porção de espécies depositadas de tungstênio a partir do catalisador heterogêneo gasto, dando um catalisador heterogêneo regenerado; e (iii) usar pelo menos uma porção do catalisador heterogêneo regenerado como catalisador heterogêneo na reação de etapa (i). a invenção refere-se adicionalmente a uma composição de catalisador heterogêneo regenerado obtenível a partir da invenção.
