Abstract

a presente invenção refere-se uma planta mutante ou parte da mesma com expressão ou atividade, pelo menos parcialmente reduzida, de pelo menos duas atpases de metais pesados (hmas), em que as referidas duas hmas compreendem, consistem ou consistem essencialmente em: (i) polipeptídeos com pelo menos 65% de identidade de sequência com a seq id no:1 e seq id no:2; (ii) polinucleotídeos que codificam os polipeptídeos estabelecidos em (i); ou (iii) polinucleotídeos com pelo menos 65% de identidade de sequência com a seq id no:3 e seq id no:4 codificando hmas; em que a expressão ou atividade de uma das hmas estabelecidas em (i) ou (ii) ou (iii) é parcialmente reduzida ou perdida e a expressão ou atividade de uma das hmas estabelecidas em (i) ou (ii) ou (iii) é perdida em comparação com uma planta controle; e em que a planta mutante ou parte dela apresenta pelo menos uma redução de 27% em comparação com a planta controle no acúmulo de cádmio na folha quando a planta mutante é cultivada no campo na presença de cádmio de ocorrência natural ou não natural.
