um método para formação de um fertilizante encapsulado compreende a etapa de prover uma partícula de núcleo. a partícula de núcleo compreende um fertilizante e tem uma superfície externa. um exemplo do fertilizante é ureia. o método compreende adicionalmente a etapa de aplicação de um componente isocianato diretamente à superfície externa da partícula de núcleo. o componente isocianato tem grupos funcionais isocianato. um exemplo do componente isocianato é um polímero finalizado com isocianato. um exemplo específico do polímero finalizado com isocianato é um compreendendo o produto de reação de um di-isocianato de difenilmetano (mdi) e um poliol. o método compreende adicionalmente a etapa de reação do componente isocianato com umidade ambiente para formar uma camada disposta em torno da partícula de núcleo para formar o fertilizante encapsulado. a camada compreende ligações de poliureia. a camada pode compreender adicionalmente ligações de de poliuretano. por exemplo, a camada pode estar na forma de uma camada de poliureia/poliuretano quando o polímero finalizado com isocianato é utilizado.
