Abstract

redução do teor de ácidos graxos saturados de semente de planta. a presente invenção refere-se a composições e métodos que incluem codificar e expressar geneticamente uma nova delta-9 dessaturase em células vegetais. em algumas modalidades, os métodos de expressar ácidos nucleicos em uma célula vegetal tiram vantagem da atividade enzimática da delta-9 dessaturase, de modo que a composição percentual dos ácidos graxos saturados nas sementes da planta seja reduzida e haja um aumento concomitante nos ácidos graxos <sym>-7. em outras modalidades, as sequências de aminoácidos têm atividade de delta-9 dessaturase. os métodos podem envolver a expressão de delta-9 dessaturase em células vegetais, materiais de origem vegetal, e plantas inteiras com o propósito de aumentar a quantidade de ácidos graxos incomuns em plantas inteiras, sementes de planta, e materiais de origem vegetal, por exemplo, sementes.
