Abstract

"CONVERSãO DE INFORMAçãO SUAVE PARA DECODIFICAçãO ITERATIVA". São descritos métodos e aparelho para convertes valores suaves (214) como parte de um processo de decodificação de correção de erro. A decodificação precisa depende da utilização do fator de escala. A seleção e a utilização do fator de escala para converter valores suaves são projetadas para melhorar e/ou otimizar o desempenho do decodificador sem a necessidade de conhecimento anterior do fator de escala correto ou das condições de canal efetivas quando o sinal do qual os valores suaves foram obtidos foi transmitido através de um canal de comunicação. As técnicas da presente invenção supõem que os valores suaves a serem processados foram transmitidos através de um canal de comunicação tendo uma qualidade que pode ser descrita com precisão por um valor de qualidade de canal (200). O fator de escala é determinado da distribuição do valor suave (208) a ser convertido (212) e uma suposição de que o canal através do qual eles foram transmitidos era de qualidade correspondente a um valor de qualidade de canal pré-selecionado.
