Abstract
"SISTEMA E MéTODO PARA IMPEDIR A FORMAçãO DE DENDRITOS EM UMA CéLULA DE COMBUSTìVEL OU BATERIA METAL/AR, OU EM UM APARELHO DE RECUPERAçãO DE METAIS". Um sistema e um método são descritos para impedir a formação de cristais dendríticos em uma célula de combustivel, bateria ou sistema de recuperação de metais. As pilhas de células de combustível metal/ar típicas compreendem várias células acopladas eletricamente em série. O eletrólito é bombeado, tipicamente, pelas células continuamente usando um dispositivo de derivação múltipla de entrada e saída, tendo vários canais de número igual àquele das células compreendendo a pilha. Essa conexão paralela provoca a formação de cristais dendríticos metálicos nos canais, que podem provocar um curto-circuito na pilha de células de combustível ou bateria ou em um aparelho de recuperação de metais. O sistema e o método proporcionam uma ou mais zonas de eliminação de cristais dendríticos, para impedir a formação de cristais dendríticos. As zonas de eliminação de cristais dendríticos são construídas dentro de cada célula ou dentro de cada derivação múltipla, para impedir a ocorrência da reação eletroquímica associada com os cristais dendríticos. As zonas de eliminação de cristais dendríticos são caracterizadas pela falta substancial de um eletrodo negativo metálico, tal como zinco, no volume da zona, e a presença substancial de um eletrodo positivo da célula pelo volume ou adjacente ao volume.
