Abstract
Following the method, the cellulose is soaked with carbon sulphide at a quantity of 35 to 55 per cent of the cellulose mass, followed by treatment with water solution of sodium hydroxide, which prompts mercerisation and xanthation happen concurrently. Water is added and the mixture is stirred until a solution is obtained. The excess quantity of carbon sulphide is sufficient to fill the bulk volume of the cellulose. Later, this excess quantity is removed by discharge and evaporation until its concentration becomes 35 to 55 per cent of the cellulose mass. The soaking with carbon sulphide is carried out at a temperature from 20 to 95 degrees C.
