Abstract
The method and the apparatus are designed for determining beneficial sites for locating bending wave transducer means (20) in operative association with members (10) subjected to acoustic operation on resonant modes of bending wave action in such members. The method comprises investigative execution of acoustically relevant bending wave action in a said member (10); and systematic assessment of measurable effects related to such excited bending wave action and corresponding said acoustic action. The effects vary according to bending wave transducer location of the bending wave transducer means (20) of said member concerned (10). Investigative excitation is by application of acoustic energy to said member (10) so as to induce said acoustically relevant bending wave action with bending wave transducer means (20) selectively operatively associatable fitted on the said member in order to respond to its bending wave action. The said measurable effect of signals from said transducer means (20) or close to the selectively operatively associatable bending wave transducer means (20) of the examined member (10) so as to induce the acoustically relevant bending wave action. 37 claims, 20 figures
