The present invention relates to a scaffolding connection device for connecting the ends of a horizontal scaffolding element to a vertical scaffolding element.
A connection device of this kind is known from the publication of European patent application 0110027.
This known device comprises two spaced-apart annular supports fixed to a vertical scaffolding element and a hooking piece fixed to one end of a horizontal scaffolding element. The attachment piece has two recesses intended to fit on two annular support shoulders fixed on a vertical element. In this connection device, the horizontal element and the vertical element are assembled by simply pressing the attachment piece on the support shoulders, the retention of the attachment piece on said shoulders being ensured by a locking key mounted to slide under the attachment piece. This connecting device ensures alignment with respect to a reference axis which passes through the two shoulders, which makes the tribular assembly of the manufacturing tolerances.
When the shoulders are not perfectly aligned parallel to the axis of the vertical element, the attachment
of a horizontal element can be easily imperfect
and result in a defect in the square of the horizontal element with respect to the vertical element. In addition, the connecting devices according to the prior art produce rigid mounting nodes which have no elasticity to respond to load stresses.
The invention aims to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art thanks to an improvement to a device
link to connect a horizontal bar to
a vertical column, which includes a hanging piece attached to one end of the horizontal bar
for coupling with at least one annular support element fixed on the vertical column, and a locking device.
According to the invention, the support element has a collar having an inclined peripheral rim which forms an annular bowl, the radial width of which decreases progressively from its upper edge to the bottom of the bowl, and the attachment part has at least a spout extending downwards and profiled to engage tightly inside
of the bowl of a collar so that when it is inserted into said bowl, the spout is wedged elastically between the vertical column and the peripheral annular rim of the bowl.
In an advantageous embodiment, the blocking device comprises a cam pivotally mounted on the attachment piece so that when the spout is in contact with the upper part of the peripheral rim of the flange, the cam is against the flange and so that, under the pressure exerted by the action of the cam, the spout engages towards the bottom of the bowl so that the cam applies a prestressing force on the flange which resiliently locks the spout in the support flange cup.
The invention is set out in the following based on the attached drawings in which:
. FIG. 1 is an exploded view of an exemplary embodiment of the connection device according to the invention,. FIGS. 2 to 4 illustrate the successive stages of the process of coupling the parts constituting the connection device mounted in FIG. 1.
The connecting device shown in Figure 1 is used to connect a horizontal bar 2 to a vertical column 1 to form a connecting node in a scaffold. The connection device comprises two support flanges 10 fixed to the column 1 using dowels 3 and a hooking piece 20 fixed to one end of the bar 2 using dowels
4 and 5. The other end of the bar 2 is equipped with a similar attachment piece intended to be coupled to a support device provided on another vertical column.
The support device could also comprise only a single flange 10. The or each support flange 10 is constituted by a ring 11 formed with an inclined peripheral rim 12 so as to delimit a flared annular bowl 13. In a variant of execution, the two support flanges 10 could perfectly be produced in the form of a single support piece.
The attachment piece 20 consists of a metal profile having two spouts 21 intended to engage in the bowls 13 of the support flanges 10. The spouts 21 are shaped to fit in the bowls
13 with progressive tightening, the spouts having an inclined flank 22 to adapt against the peripheral rim 12 of the flanges 10 and a flank 23 to adapt against the rings 11. Inside the profile is housed a locking piece 24 mounted on a pivot 5 passing through the hole 26 and coming to be housed in the holes 27 of the wings of the profile constituting the attachment piece. The room
lock has a cam profile 25 and a
spring arm 28 which will be seen below.
When inserting a spout 21 into a bowl 13,
progressive tightening between the sides 22 and 23 of the spout
and the walls 11 and 12 of the bowl produces an elastic wedging of the spout 21 in the bowl 13. This progressive elastic tightening is illustrated by FIGS. 2 to 4. In the position shown in FIG. 2, the spouts 21 of
the attachment piece 20 are ready to be introduced into the cups 13 of the support flanges 10.
The locking device 24 is advantageously retained by means of a lug 29.
When the spouts 21 are lowered into the bowls
13 of the support flanges 10 (FIG. 3), the profile of the spouts 21 ensures good progressive tightening. In addition, thanks to the slight elastic deformation of the upper flange, the lower spout 21 of the attachment piece is accommodated flexibly and elastically in the lower bowl 13. If the retaining lug 29 has been released from the locking piece 24, the latter is pivoted about its axis 5 to bring the cam profile
25 against the circular edge 15 of the upper flange 10.
The cam profile 25 is designed in such a way that, when the locking piece 24 is pivoted
in the direction of arrow V, the cam profile 25 slides on the edge 15 of the flange by pulling the spout 21
towards the bottom of the bowl while applying a progressive prestressing force on the collar 10.
As the hanging nozzles descend
21 towards the bottom of the cups of the support flanges
10, these undergo a slight elastic deformation due to their annular shape and this elastic deformation promotes engagement while ensuring elastic tightening. This elastic deformation effect is indicated in FIGS. 2 to 4 by the marks D1,
D2 and D3 which designate the successive diameters, from the opening of the upper bowl during the insertion process (D1 <D2 <D3).
When the upper spout 21 is fully engaged
tightly in the bowl 13 of the upper support flange 10, and also the lower spout
in the corresponding bowl, moreover (Figure 4),
the locking piece 24 exerts on the upper flange 10 a pressing force which locks the spout 21 in the cup of the flange 10. This puts the assembly in elastic prestressing which ensures an excellent knot with elastic embedding, the sides
22 and 23 of the hooking spouts 21 being perfectly wedged elastically between the rings 11, that is to say the column 1, and the peripheral edges of the flanges of the support 10. It is noted that the entire movement of insertion and elastic tightening thus develops with respect to the axis of the vertical column, which ensures a perfectly square assembly which adds to the safety of the scaffolding by an excellent balance of the assembled elements.
It is understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings and described in the foregoing. Not only various variants of arrangements with two superimposed bowls can be produced in accordance with the invention, but it is also possible to produce connecting nodes with a single bowl, which conform to the spirit of the invention.
