<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>

ROLLER DEVICE FOR PAINT APPLICATION
The present invention is an improvement to the patent application n [deg.] 0/182078 of October 26, 1977 which related to a device for the application of paints and similar materials characterized by
a circular rod comprising two beads or two circular grooves, this rod constituting the support, and two cylinders, slipped on this rod, provided inside with a tube having an internal diameter very slightly greater than the diameter of the rod and the surface internal of each tubing comprising, near one end, a circular groove or bead intended to adapt respectively to one of the beads or to one of the
grooves of the rod, and finally as a gripping means, a flat member perpendicular to the rod and fixed to the central part of this
last.
The essential qualities of this device are on the one hand a perfect balance and on the other hand a quickly and firmly assembled unit which
<EMI ID = 1.1>
secondary fixing elements, screws, nuts, ...
The embodiments according to the present improvement retain the same advantages of balance and ease of assembly while
by no longer requiring the use of two separate cylinders, only one being sufficient, which significantly reduces the manufacturing costs, in particular by the fact that one can provide a packing material in a single one .. -
room.
To this end, the device for applying paints and similar materials according to the present improvement is characterized in that
that the circular rod made of rigid material, preferably of rigid plastic material, is hollow and comprises at least one circular bead or groove at any location along its length but preferably near one of these ends, this rod constituting the axis of rotation,
and the two rigid plastic cylinders partially interlock so as to form a single piece or a one piece cylinder which is provided inside with at least one tubing having an internal diameter slightly greater than the external diameter of the rod, tubing comprising an identical number of circular grooves or beads capable of adapting to the beads or grooves of the rod, and in addition a shaped fitting
of U with parallel members but of identical length or not having an angular sectional profile and of which one member is intended to slide there by force and to hold the rod and the other perpendicularly, the handle preferably of rigid plastic material.
Preferably, the frame on which the rod slides will be of relatively substantial length so as to support the rod
over its entire length, especially if the latter extends over its entire length
the length of the device, / will in this case have two beads
or two grooves and opposite, it will be the same for the tubing.
In order to better understand the invention, it has now been described in an illustrative and non-limiting manner with respect to a drawing which represents:
in fig. 1 a front view of the disassembled device,
in fig. 2 a view in longitudinal section in the cylinder,
<EMI ID = 2.1>
in fig. 4 an angled view of a side flange,
in fig. 5 a side view of the gripping handle.
Referring to Figure 1, we see the different parts of the device, by 1 the handle or gripping handle, by 2 the fitting, by 3 the hollow rod constituting the axis of rotation, by 4 the cylinder intended to be lined in a known manner by means of a packing material enabling paint to be taken out of a container and to apply it to a surface to be covered, by the side flanges intended to hold the packing material.
Rod 3 is hollow and open at at least one end
and for example the end 3a, in order to be able to slide it on the branch 2a of the fitting 2, profile fitting in angular section and for example square forming part of a circle of almost identical diameter
the diameter of the internal hollow of the rod 3 so that the latter forcibly slipped on the fitting, is perfectly and definitively held,
in fact, there is no longer any need to provide, when the device is dismantled, to remove the rod 3 from the fitting 2. The rod 3 comprises in the example chosen, two beads 6 placed around its ends, we would have could however provide a single bead 6 placed for example at the center or at one end, or instead of the beads, grooves.
The cylinder 4 (fig. 2) has two pipes 7, with an internal diameter slightly greater than the external diameter of the rod 3, each comprising a groove 8 which when the cylinder 4 is slid on the rod 3, come opposite the beads. 9 of this rod 3. If the rod 3 has grooves in this case, the pipes will have a bead, just as if the rod has only a groove or a bead and / only provides a tube and a bead or a bead. throat.
The pipes 7 will preferably be partially provided with longitudinal notches 9 so as to facilitate, by a certain elasticity, the passage of a bead 6 in a groove 8.
To hold the pipes 7 in the cylinder 4, taking into account that it must be open at these two ends to allow the flanges 5 to be placed therein, vertical walls 10 are provided inside the cylinder, whether or not forming a single one and same part with the outer cylinder and the pipes made in one piece by the injection technique in rigid plastic.
To keep the side flanges 5 on the sides of the cylinder 4, taking into account that the outer diameter of the flanges 5 is smaller than that of the inner diameter of the cylinder 4, at least at its inlet so as to be able to take the end of the coating material (not shown) by means of the flanges 5, ^ / ^ then against this internal diameter of the cylinder 4 is a little smaller and therefore has a rim 11, the diameter of which, smaller is itself just - .; greater than the outer one of the flanges 5 so that the latter fit firmly into the sides of the cylinder 4. The flanges 5 have a wide opening, hole. It easily allows the ti ;; e 3 to pass.
The gripping means or handle 1 of the device ends, on the side of its attachment to the fitting 2, in the form of a mold widening towards the outside.
<EMI ID = 3.1>
manhole, a hole 12 of identical shape in sectional profile to that of
the fitting 2 so that the handle is perfectly fixed on the fitting,
<EMI ID = 4.1>
relative to cylinder 4 so as to find a perfect balance in the device.
As shown this fitting 2, essentially for the purpose of lightening the device, will have a partial chord 2b, - that is to say not extending over the entire length of the cylinder 4, it could be. even moreover of the other frame 2a in particular if only a partial rod 3 is provided with respect to the length of the cylinder 4, the latter being able in this case to be secured to the latter only by a single groove or bead. The cylinder 4 for its part can be provided in one or two pieces (not shown) partially nesting one inside the other.
As indicated, the various parts constituting the device will preferably be made of rigid plastic, with the exception, however, of the fitting, the shape of which apparently requires the use of metal, it could be even possibly other parts and for example of the rod 3.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown or to those described and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto.
