le même espacement que les découpes dans la barre matrice, ledit arbre étant monté dans des paliers fixés sur la machine de manière à pouvoir être déplacé en un mouvement de translation axial et à pouvoir tourner autour de son axe ; un mécanisme de commande de la barre matrice agencé pour actionner le levier portant la barre matrice en sorte d'amener périodiquement celle-ci en position telle que les découpes ceinturent partiellement les corps et d'écarter périodiquement la barre matrice des corps ;
- la figure 1 est une vue en élévation latérale, avec coupe partielle, d'une machine à confectionner des car touches comportant le dispositif de transfert suivant l'invention ;
- la figure 2 est une vue en élévation longitudinale, avec coupe partielle, de la machine de la figure 1 ;
- la figure 3 est une vue en plan, avec arrachement, de la machine de la figure 1 ;
- les figures 4 et 5 montrent une forme de réalisation des mécanismes de commande du râteau ;
- les figures 6 et 7 sont des croquis servant à expliquer les mouvements des organes constituant le dispositif de transfert suivant l'invention ;
<EMI ID=2.1>

<EMI ID=4.1>
Transfer device
body for assembly machine.
The present invention relates to a device
linear transfer system for moving bodies between
the various work stations on an assembly machine such as, for example, a machine for making cartridges.
In known assembly machines, the transfer devices used are of three types:
either devices with circular and reciprocating movements, or devices in continuous kinematics, or devices with linear displacement.
The devices of the first two types comprise complex sets of transfer members mounted on pivots to move the bodies in a succession of curved paths and complex drive mechanisms for imparting circular and / or reciprocating movements to the transfer members mounted on. pivots. Devices of this type are obviously complex and expensive and they only have a relatively limited transfer rate. In addition, access to all workstations is often difficult.
Devices of the third type are less complicated: they include either a linear displacement transfer chain to move bodies between
workstations, either a clamp device or
with cleats animated by alternating movements. However, the transfer chain undergoes deformations which make handling at the workstations imprecise as a result of poor centering of the bodies at the workstations. On the other hand, clamp devices or
cleats are complicated and expensive. Like other known devices, these types of devices
transfer rates do not allow a very high transfer rate to be reached because poor centering
bodies increase with the rate of transfer.
The object of the invention is a simple transfer device capable of achieving a high transfer rate while guaranteeing precise centering of the
body at each workstation.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a die bar extending above and parallel to the machine table on one side of the path of the bodies, this bar being carried by a lever mounted on a pivot, this bar having in at least one longitudinal edge, cuts at regular intervals, the profile of which adapts to the periphery of the bodies; a rake consisting of a shaft extending parallel to the die bar on the other side of the path of the bodies and carrying a series of teeth having
the same spacing as the cutouts in the die bar, said shaft being mounted in bearings fixed to the machine so as to be able to be displaced in an axial translational movement and to be able to rotate about its axis; a control mechanism for the die bar arranged to actuate the lever carrying the die bar so as to periodically bring the latter into a position such that the cutouts partially surround the bodies and periodically separate the die bar from the bodies;
and a rake control mechanism coupled to the rake shaft and arranged to print, while the die bar is in the brought position, a first rotational movement of said shaft so as to disengage the teeth from between the bodies, a translational movement of a determined number of rearward body positions, and a second rotational movement in the opposite direction of the first rotational movement so as to re-engage the teeth between the bodies, the end of this second movement of rotation occurring before the die bar is pulled away from the bodies.
A particularity of this device is that it allows the easy release of any body during construction.
The invention will be described below on an exemplary embodiment illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:
- Figure 1 is a side elevational view, in partial section, of a machine for making keycards comprising the transfer device according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is a longitudinal elevational view, in partial section, of the machine of Figure 1;
FIG. 3 is a plan view, with cutaway, of the machine of FIG. 1;
- Figures 4 and 5 show an embodiment of the rake control mechanisms;
- Figures 6 and 7 are sketches for explaining the movements of the members constituting the transfer device according to the invention;
- Figure 8 is a graph illustrating the operating sequences of the members of the transfer device.
The following description relates to a machine for making cartridges on which is provided
the transfer device according to the invention. Sure
Figures 1 and 2, the machine table is marked
by the numerical reference 1. The workstations necessary for the manufacture of the cartridges are distributed along this table and the sleeves serving
to make the cartridges are brought to the
table 1 by a lever 17 mounted on the axis 8 (on the left when looking at figure 3) and are moved towards
the right one after the other. The bushes travel on the table 1 in the axis of the bush 2 shown in Figure 1 and Figure 3.
The bushes are moved on the table 1 by a transfer device according to the invention, essentially comprising a rake 3, a die bar 4,
a retractable guide bar 5 and a support rule 6.
The cooperation of these four organs will be described
further.
Rake 3 consists of a shaft with tines
41 resting on bearings 14. The die bar 4 consists of a bar extending parallel to the table 1 and having on its edge turned towards the rake 3, cutouts 42 each having a profile suitable for encircling a part of the sleeve 2. The die bar 4 is carried at the end of the vertical branch of an L-shaped lever 7 mounted on a pivot pin 8 by means of ball bearings 9; on the other branch of the lever 7 are fixed a roller 24 and a bracket 22. The retractable guide bar 5 is mounted
on the end of a support 11 articulated on a pivot
12 fixed to the table 1, the bar 5 being maintained in the normal position by the action of a spring 13 and by
the adjustable stop 25. The support rule 6 is fixed
on the bearings 14 by means of adjusting screws
15. Buttonholes 16 are provided in rule 6 in order to adjust their position in relation to the position of the sleeves 2.
The die bar 4 and the rake 3 are actuated by cam mechanisms mounted on a camshaft
10 along the table 1. The mechanism controlling the die bar 4 is visible in Figure 1 while the. mechanisms controlling the rake 3 are shown in Figures 4 and 5.
Before describing these mechanisms in more detail, we will analyze the coordinated movements of the rake 3 and the die bar 4 in order to drive the bushes simultaneously one behind the other. To do this, refer to the sketches in Figures 6 and 7.
The positions shown in this sketch for die bar 4 and rake 3 are those that correspond
to a phase of operations at the various workstations. The die bar 4 then retains all the sockets
2 in these cutouts 42 facing downwards, its outer surface pressing against the sockets 2. Opposite
of the bearing line of the rake 3 against the bushes 2 runs the guide bar 5. Each bush is thus held in at least four points, which ensures
its precise centering during the cartridge making operations.
While the operations are being completed, the rake
3 is moved by a longitudinal translational movement of one or more bush positions
backward (that is to say in the direction of the point of insertion of the sleeves) following arrow E, then it is animated by a rotational movement following the
arrow F in order to bring the teeth 41 between the successive bushings. As soon as the operations are completed, the rake 3 is moved by a translational movement from a forward position along arrow B
and when the bushes occupy their new positions, the rake 3 is driven by a rotational movement along arrow D, releasing the teeth 41 during
that the required operations are carried out on the sockets. These movements of the rake are thus repeated at a regular and rapid rate.
During these movements of the rake the bar
die 4 is actuated according to arrow A by
its control mechanism ensures that the bushings are released from the moment when the teeth of the rake are engaged between the bushes and therefore retain them, until the moment when the bushes moved
by the translation of the rake have been placed in their new positions. The sequence of movements of rake 3 and of die bar 4 is illustrated by the graph in figure 6: the upper curve represents the sequence of translational movements E and B of the rake over time, the stages corresponding to the phases of workstation operations; the ranges D and F represent the time intervals during which the rotations are performed
rake; the lower curve represents the sequence of the infeed C and retract A movements of the die bar. An interesting peculiarity of the drive mechanism is that the movements of the organs
gripping the sleeves for their transfer
from one position to the next are carried out during the actual execution of the operations for making the cartridges, which gives the machine equipped with this device according to the invention a production rate never reached
by known machines. In addition, as the bushes are always maintained at at least four points during the operating phases, their centering is always
very precise, which contributes to the increase of
<EMI ID = 1.1> invention.
An embodiment of the control mechanism of the die bar 4 is shown by way of example in FIG. 1. The lever 7, articulated on the axis 8, carries a roller 24 which rests on the profile of a cam 20 mounted on shaft 10, and a stem 22
<EMI ID = 2.1>
shaft 10 is controlled by any means not shown
(for example an electric motor) so as to have a rotary movement imprinted. When the roller 24 is lifted by the cam 20, the lever 7 swings and moves
therefore the die bar 4 of the sockets 2. The return
of this mechanism in the position shown in figure 1
is done by the action of the return spring 23 under the control of the cam 20.
The mechanism controlling the movements of the rake
3 is shown in Figures 4 and 5. Figure 4 shows
in particular the parts printing with the rake 3 sound
<EMI ID = 3.1>
shows in particular the members giving the rake 3 its rotational movement.
The translation movement control is
made under the control of a drum cam 26 mounted on the shaft 10. This cam acts on the rake 3 via a lever 27 pivoting on the axis 28.
The rotational movement of the rake 3 is controlled by a flat cam 29 mounted on the same shaft 10 as the other cams of the machine. On the cam 29 rests a roller 33 carried by a lever 31 which pivots around the axis 32. One end of the lever 31 carries a toothed sector 30 cooperating with a gear 35 integral with the rake 3. When the cam 29 lifts the
<EMI ID = 4.1>
drives the gear 35, which has the effect of imparting to the rake 3 its rotational movement.
As stated above, the machine for making cartridges which has been described by way of illustration is one example among others of an assembly machine to which the transfer device according to the invention applies. It is of course also understood that the embodiment of this device may have variants compared to the one which
has been described by way of example, without departing from the scope of the invention.
