Abstract

The expanded material is pref. deformable, e.g. expanded polyurethane. The cells may be filled with hardened cement and may also contain particles of asbestos, diatomaceous earth or glass fibres as reinforcing agents. A porous sheet material may also be incorporated, the expanded plastic material consisting of a layer adjacent to the sheet material. The porous reinforcement may be a metal sheet or a honeycomb of plastic material reinforced with glass fibres. Thus a fireproof structural material is provided which is strong enough to resist breakage and consequent fire damage.
