<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"Reversible stepper motor"
The present invention relates to a stepper motor. not reversible having a simple construction and an operation of a great safety, To this end the ± * cough step by step according to the invention comprises a tooth member 'cooperating with a first and a second pawl acting in opposite direction and each subjected to the momentary action of a means of appeal such as an electro-simant, causing,
counter to the recall hub action! the release of the associated ratchet from the tooth in which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
it is engaged in the rest position of the motor, and brings it from this first pawl opposite a neighboring tooth, a mechanical connection between the first and the second pawl causing the release of the second pawl before the movement of return all the action of the return means, of the first pawl, the mechanical connection then causing the engagement of said second pawl in the tooth brought opposite this second pawl by the simultaneous movement of the toothed member and of the first pawl,
so that the second pawl acts as a limit stop for the toothed member.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the first and the second pawl each have a stud housed respectively in a first and an inclined buttonhole provided in a movable plate under the action of said studs, each of these pins. latter can occupy two positions claimites which correspond preferably to the bottoms of said buttonholes and one of which corresponds to the complete engagement of the pawl in a tooth of the toothed member and the other of which corresponds to the complete disengagement of the pawl from the teeth of the toothed organ,
the profile of the buttonholes being such that when a stud is driven into the aforementioned second position while the opposite stud is in the first position bound. the movement of the plate brings said opposite stud in its second limit position,
and Means being provided so that the force necessary for the displacement of the plate is greater than the force necessary for the displacement of the studs in their buttonhole * The invention also relates to a device for controlling the duration of electric current pulses in particular for controlling a stepping motor according to the invention and comprising at least one electromagnet, the excitation of which causes the arming of a return spring,
the lack of excitation causes disarming of the spring and advancement of the motor.
In stepper motors of the above type, the pulse
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
must be long enough so that the electro can cover the entire stroke necessary to charge the spring. If we want to avoid a second electro to allow the disarming of the spring, this disarming must depend on the lack of current in the electro. The majority of existing devices make use of extremely delicate devices to calibrate these pulses in duration, without putting the motors entirely safe from a function! definitely defective. The purpose of the device according to the invention is to remedy these drawbacks by supplying pulses of just sufficient duration and which adapt themselves to the state of wear of the device.
To this end, the device according to the invention comprises, mounted in the supply circuit of the electromagnet, a self-breaking switch with two stable positions, one of which corresponds to the closing of the circuit and the second on opening of the circuit, the opening and closing of the switch being mechanically caused by an element integral with the movable core of the electromagnet, said supply circuit further comprising two inverters connected in series, one of which constitutes the control means and the other of which is subjected to the action of a movable member of the motor, so that when the movable core of the electromagnet reaches its rest position, under the action of the return spring,
it causes the self-interrupting switch to close while the second-mentioned inverter is switched just before this closing. 'the closure of the supply circuit can therefore be performed again by tilting the control inverter.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below without limitation of several embodiments of the invention, with reference to the drawings in which

The movement of the plate 16 is slowed down by a three-position latching constituted by a housing 9 fixed astride one of the edges 15 of the plate 12 and having a cylindrical housing 20 open towards the edge 15 and in which is arranged a spring 21 resiliently applying a ball 22 * to the flange 15; the latter has three notches 23 spaced apart from one another by the racks 5, 5 '.
Each pawl 6, 6 'is subjected to the action of a return spring 24, 24' stretched between a tenon 25, 25 'carried by the movable core 9, 9' of the corresponding electromagnet 10, 10 ' and a stake 26, 26 'mounted on the cover plate 12 in the axis of the corresponding core 9, 9'.
The cover plate 12 has two notches 27, 27 'for the passage and movement of the drive shafts 8, 8'.
In the variant embodiment shown schematically in Figures 6 to 11, the racks 5, 5 'have their toothed edge directed facing each other, while the arms of the pawls 6, 6' are in alignment and a spring of single return 24 is stretched between the drive axes 8, 8 '.
The operation of the step motor, which emerges more clearly from Figures 6 to 11, is as follows. When one of the electromagnets, for example the electromagnet 10 is energized, the axis 8 is pulled and drives the pawl 7; the force due to the * friction of the stud 18 in the buttonhole 17 of the plate 16 being less than that necessary to move the plate 16, due to the latching device 19, the stud 18 is guided in the buttonhole 17 without that the plate 16 is driven and consequently the nozzle

, The motor described above operates

maximum safety because it has no springs outside the advancement one; it is moreover of a simple construction and easily adjustable. It will be advantageously used in elevator installations where the trolley 4 will command the opening or closing of a series of contacts carried by the frame 1, in a predetermined order depending on the operations to be carried out.
In FIG. 12 is shown the electric diagram of a device for controlling the duration of electric current pulses according to the invention, intended in particular to supplement the motor described above, for the excitation of the electromagnets. 10, 10 '.
The diagram shows the supply circuit of a single electromagnet 30, but it can easily be completed for the supply of a second electromagnet. This circuit comprises a switch 31 with two stable positions which is controlled by a solid part of the movable core of the electromagnet 30, so that when the movable core is attracted by the electromagnetic force and arrives at the end of the stroke, which can be adjusted in an appropriate manner, it opens the switch 31.
The return, under the action of the spring 24, which follows causes the carriage 4 of the motor to advance, which in turn causes the tilting of an inverter 32 from its initial position which corresponded to the closing of the circuit, in that shown. in Figure 12 and to, which there is no voltage; when the core of the electromagnet is returned to its rest position, it causes the switch 31 to tilt into its initial position shown in FIG. 12; however, the power supply circuit is not supplied again for the advancement of a new step, as long as a control inverter 33, mounted in series with the inverter 32, is not switched from the position shown in the figure in its second position.
The advantage of the device described above lies in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
that a mechanical synchronization is obtained for the interruption of the excitation of the electromagnet by means of two mechanical elements (switch 31 and inverter 32), both depending on the displacement of motor parts; this synchronization is completely rigid and foolproof since it does not use any elastic parts *
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and that many variations can be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent.
