INSTALLATION DE TRIAGE INDIVIIOEL
AUTOMATIQUE.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

INDIVIIOEL TRIAGE INSTALLATION
AUTOMATIC.
The individual sorting of grains classified by sieving requires above all a device making it possible to fix one grain after another in a determined position with respect to an apparatus for measuring a property of these seeds. It is already known to make use in such installations of a moving part provided with a suction hole, intermittently connected to a vacuum installation. In this case, the seeds are fixed in front of the suction holes and are thus kept in position; they pass through a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
measuring device, for example a device which makes it possible to measure the transparency or the color of seeds.
In the solutions proposed up to now, it happened that many suction holes passed through the measuring device without any grain being fixed there, which strongly affected the performance of these installations. This defect was felt especially when the grains were classified by sieving and at the same time they had very different shapes.
The object of the invention is to remedy this defect; it makes use of the known principle of the use of a movable part provided with suction holes in front of which the seeds are fixed in order to bring the latter through a measuring device. The invention is characterized in that the suction holes end at the top of small nozzles arranged at the bottom of cells which can contain a multitude of grains supplied by a feed device and that means are provided at a place situated upstream. relative to the measuring device to extract from the cells the grains not fixed in front of the suction holes and to lead them back into the feed device.
The invention is described below with respect to two non-limiting exemplary embodiments shown in the accompanying drawing.
In Figure 1, a sorting installation comprises a drum 1, rotating around a fixed shaft 2. The fixed shaft 2 is hollow and comprises a pipe 3 for

connect the inside of the drum 1 to a vacuum system, a compressed air line 4 and electrical conductors 5 for connecting the devices inside the drum 1. To the shaft 2 is attached an arm 6 supporting detectors 7 and ejection devices 8.
On the cylindrical surface of the drum are provided several rows of holes 9 in front of which seeds can be fixed. As can be seen in FIG. 2, these holes 9 end at the top of small nozzles 10 arranged at the bottom of cells 11 which can contain a multitude of seeds. These seeds are supplied by a feed device consisting of a reservoir 12, an oscillating screen hopper 13 and outlet openings 14 arranged above the places where the holes pass 9. The grains leaving the outlet openings 14 fill the cells where one of the seeds is fixed in front of the opening hole at the top of the spout placed on the bottom of the cell.
During the rotation of the drum, all loose seeds should the holes fall into a recycling hopper 15 from which they are returned to the feed device by means of a jet of compressed air through the pipe. 16. The compressed air exits through a dust filter 17 and the grains broken in the vortex are collected under the oscillating screen 13 in a fine tank 18. Inside the recycling hopper 15 are arranged. moreover blowing nozzles 19 making it possible to unbalance the grain clusters which may, under certain conditions,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
form in front of the suction holes 9.
After the grains have passed in front of the nozzles 19, their transparency is measured using an X-ray source 20 protected by a screen 21 and the detector 7 placed inside the drum 1. The measurement signal or detection is introduced into an amplifier-discriminator 22 controlling the ejection valves of the devices 8. Depending on whether the grain has transparency below or above the detection threshold, it is ejected either into the oscillating conveyor 23, or in the oscillating conveyor 24.
In FIG. 3 the means of returning the seeds which are not fixed in front of the holes are constituted by the arrangement of the holes in an internal drum and a feed disposed at the bottom of the drum.
The elements bearing the same references as in FIG. 1 fulfill the same functions as those described in relation to this figure. The holes 9 are disposed on the inner surface of a drum 25 in the form of a hollow-walled cup open towards the front. Inside this hollow wall is arranged the arm 6, supported by the fixed shaft 2 with the detector 7 and the ejection nozzles 8. The grain is fed simply by an oscillating hopper, not shown, placed at the bottom. a feed tank. Recycling takes place automatically thanks to the gravity of the grains which naturally fall on the grain bank 27 at the bottom of the drum 25,
