<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Selon l'invention, le nouveau dispositif de liaison pour éléments de transporteur consiste substantiellement en un élément d'accrochage constitué par la combinaison d'un corps, d'une tête et d'une poignée solidaire dudit corps et dont la position est déterminée en corrélation avec la position de ladite tête par rapport à l'orifice de même forme que ladite tête est appelée à traverser;
C'est donc à simple titre d'exemple, sans aucun caractère limitatif qu'une réalisation est décrite en détail ci-après avec référence aux dessins annexés, dans lesquels : la figure 1 représente, en vue perspective, ce que l'on peut appeler la partie mâle du dispositif d'accrochage; la figure 2 représente, en vue perspective, ce que l'on peut appeler la partie femelle du dispositif d'accrochage; la figure 3 représente en vue perspective le dispositif de l'invention en position d'accrochage; la figure 4 est une coupe longitudinale par le dispositif en position d'accrochage; la figure 5 est une coupe selon la ligne V-V de la figure 4;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The subject of the invention is a device for connecting and securing between the adjacent elements, placed end to end, and in the extension of one another such as, in particular, the sections of mining transporters.
The connection between the successive sections of such carriers poses particular problems in that said sections must be able to be joined together quickly and easily, sometimes under fairly difficult conditions, while allowing the entire carrier to be considered as a relatively flexible element, taking into account the almost inevitable irregularities in the level and alignment of the supports.
At the same time, the connecting device must allow an equally easy and rapid separation, a condition which is appreciably more difficult to fulfill, given the conditions in which such conveyors work, the agglomeration of magmat of coal, earth, water and other products. However, any immobilization of such a transporter is particularly detrimental, since production depends essentially on it, the evacuation of the products having to follow the slaughtering.
For these various reasons, we quickly abandoned the connection devices using bolts and nuts. This simple means quickly turned out to be too slow and above all too precarious by the difficulties often encountered in releasing the nuts, unclogging the threads and operating the loosening tools, respectively for tightening the bolts and nuts. For the past ten years or so, it has already been proposed to replace the ordinary bolt and nut device by a bolt device consisting substantially of a rod, one end of which has a lateral protrusion forming a bolt and cooperating with the orifice in keyhole shape of a lug adjacent to one of the conveyor sections, the other end of said rod being threaded and capable of receiving a nut.
This arrangement was a first step forward in that the actual fixing device could be released more easily and was capable of remaining secured to one of the sections.
Later, it was recommended to secure the nut to the rod by providing either in the nut or in the rod a radial hole for the introduction of an operating rod. Hitherto, the locking device, while proving to be preferable to the use of bolts and nuts, has, on the other hand, revealed serious disadvantages in use. First of all, a certain difficulty arises, more especially in releasing the lock, to ensure the correspondence between the bolt and the keyhole-shaped opening, especially since these parts of the device are still covered with dust or mud; that the lighting is often defective and the worker's positions inconvenient.
On the other hand, it has also been found that the use of an operating rod also constituted a source of slowing down the work, the orifices being generally blocked by dust and mud or else oriented in a manner. such that they are practically inaccessible.
The present invention relates to a device which certainly eliminates all these drawbacks and which constitutes, in itself, a new means requiring neither tool nor attached operating bar. In addition, this device is particularly comfortable in that it allows the worker to instantly determine the correct position of the fastening element and, by this fact, to act very quickly, without fatigue and without hazard. In practice, the inevitable fouling in mining operations has no appreciable effect on the operation of the device because, by its very operation, it clears the surrounding area without blockage.
In general, the device, object of the invention, can be operated directly -
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
by hand without any tool but, in exceptional cases) for example the presence of a hard body, certain deformations due to exaggerated forces or in any other similar case, it is possible to use an operating device in the form of a bar or a tube, but even in this case the worker is not dependent on the clogging of any openings or passages.
According to the invention, the new connecting device for conveyor elements consists substantially of a fastening element formed by the combination of a body, a head and a handle integral with said body and whose position is determined by correlation with the position of said head with respect to the orifice of the same shape that said head is called to pass through;
this fastening element cooperating with two rigid elements, one integral with the first conveyor element, the second integral with the second conveyor element to be joined to the first, the orifice of the first element being of such shape and dimensions that it inscribes the cross section of the body of the hooking element and the orifice of the second element being of shape and dimensions such that it inscribes the cross section of the head of said hooking element. The handle integral with the body of the hooking element also acts as a counterweight so that, by gravity, when the device is in the hooking position, said handle being placed automatically in the low position, the polygonal head is placed in position offset from the opening in the presence of which it is located.
The body of the attachment device will generally be cylindrical and the handle constituted by a rod secured or secured to said body. The attachment head can be prismatic or have a base of any shape allowing attachment: rectangular, elliptical, square, triangular or even non-geometric. Finally, the same operating element will be used by the worker to instantly bring the hooking head to the unhooked position. For this purpose, the device is completed either by a stop, or by a den, or by any other suitable means allowing the worker to bring the operating handle into the position which corresponds to the unhooking position of the head of the device.
More particularly, if a stop is used, the release can be done instantly, even when the device is not illuminated, the worker being able easily, using his hand, to realize that the stopper and the operating handle are free of any dust or mud, bring the handle into contact with said stopper and exert a longitudinal traction on the device.
These different prescriptions can obviously be materialized in infinitely variable forms so that the device of the invention is thus applicable to any kind of element to be joined in a temporary manner.
It is therefore by way of example, without any limiting nature, that an embodiment is described in detail below with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 represents, in perspective view, what can be call up the male part of the hooking device; FIG. 2 shows, in perspective view, what may be called the female part of the attachment device; FIG. 3 shows in perspective view the device of the invention in the hooked position; FIG. 4 is a longitudinal section through the device in the hooked position; Figure 5 is a section along the line V-V of Figure 4;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 6 is a section along the line VI-VI of Figure 4.
In the embodiment shown in these various figures, the device according to the invention is produced as follows: the cylindrical body 1 is terminated at one end by a prismatic head with square section 2 and is provided towards the other end , of an operating handle 3 The body 1 is passed through the orifice 1 of a rigid element ± integral with the spar 6 of one of the sections of the conveyor to be formed by the temporary joining of successive sections.
The head 2 and / or the handle 3 can be attached to the body 1 so as to release at least one of the ends of the latter in order to allow it to be introduced into the orifice of the support element. The latter has a stopper ¯1.
The spar 8 of the adjacent conveyor element has a wall .2 in which an opening 10 has been made, the shape of which is similar to that of the head 2 of the hooking device and whose dimensions are such as to allow the passage with a slight play of said head 2 The distance L between the dorsal face of the head 2 and the operating element 3 is slightly greater than the distance separating the dorsal faces 11-12 respectively from the support elements 5-9 when the side members corresponding, respectively 6-8 are in the correct hooking position.
The stopper is arranged in such a way that, when the operating element 3 abuts it, the polygonal head ¯2 is placed exactly opposite the opening 10 so as to be able to slide there normally. The operating element 3 is arranged in such a way that, when it falls back by gravity, it drives the body 1 and the end head 2 and places the latter in a position offset with respect to said window 10.
The maneuver is therefore basic, fast and comfortable. To engage, simply, with the side members 6-8 being placed end to end, and the coupling element 1-2-3 being at the full left travel, bring handle 3 into contact with stop ¯7, then push said handle 3 towards the support element 5 so as to pass the opening 10 of the support element 9 through the head 2. When the operating handle 3 abuts against the support element, it suffices to l 'to abandon.
It thus falls again by its own weight, bringing said head 2 into a position offset from the opening 10.
This operation can obviously be promoted by exerting a thrust from top to bottom on said actuator 3, in particular to prevent the case where a certain friction or foreign bodies prevent the free rotation of the fastening device around its longitudinal axis.
To trigger, respectively to separate, the side members 6 and 8¯, it suffices to do the reverse maneuver, that is to say bring the operating handle 3 into contact with the stop 1 and remove the latching device in l 'bringing in its left position.
As said previously, the shape, the dimensions and the relative position of the various parts of this attachment device are essentially variable in proportion to the applications to be carried out.
The invention relates to the hooking device per se as well as to carriers and parts of carriers or other devices applying this hooking device.
