<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The presence of mosquitoes in a region requires precautions to guard against this scourge.
Until now, the openings of dwellings have been lined with wooden frames on which have stretched wire cloths which deteriorate easily as a result of being continuously exposed to the elements. These frames are fixed and remain permanently, which can be a drawback when one wishes to ventilate the protected room more perfectly, which can be done at certain times of the day.
The idea of making this protection more practical suggested me to make a removable mosquito net, easy to handle, and this perfectly waterproof to the passage of mosquitoes and sheltered from atmospheric influences, being made of fabrics made of materials. synthetic which can withstand fluctuations in bad weather without damage.
EMI1.1
Description of the avpeàln
The device is placed permanently on the frame giving the window or any other openings, it is made of wood or metal.
It consists of a curtain (I) made of fabrics, woven as for the use of a sieve ie. that the son are regularly spaced from each other thus forming a close-meshed mesh identical to the metal mesh used for the same purpose.
This fabric (1), at the top, is fixed on a metal pipe (2) which can rotate on a fixed axis (3) supported by two chairs (4-4 ') screwed at the top on the sleeping frame (5) of the opening to protect. This fixed axis is held in this position by a nut (3 ') and a lock nut (3 ") tightening the right chair.
This fabric (I) is cut slightly in a trapezoidal shape (6), the narrowest part of which is fixed to the aforesaid pipe (2) and is hemmed (7) on each side, on its edges; in the hem (7) is placed a cord (8).
The trapezoidal shape (6) has been adopted to allow the cord (8) contained in the hem (7) to wind in a spiral (9) on the fixed axis (3) in two notches (la-la ' ) provided for this purpose, this in order to avoid, when the fabric (I) is raised and completely wound up on the support pipe (2) that it does not make an extra thickness (II) which could affect the correct functioning of the device .
Along the uprights of the fixed frame (5) are fixed, on each side, a slat (12), of wood or metal carrying a special slot that serves to guide and maintain the fabric of the curtain (I) in its rise or its descent depending on whether you want to clear or close the opening.
The wooden guide (12) is made by two slats (14-14 ') juxtaposed and profiled in such a way that joined one against the other, they leave a slot (13) on the outside of the width of the thickness of the fabric (I) and inside, a cavity (15) allowing the passage of the cord (8) contained in the hem (7) of the curtain (I) which therefore cannot come out of the slit ( 13); this design guides the curtain in its up and down movements and allows sealing along the uprights (12) of the device.
At the bottom of the curtain is fixed a metal rod (16) which maintains the rigidity of the latter at this location; this rod (16) carries two sockets (17) for handling the curtain.
At the bottom of the fixed frame, on the water outlet (18), on its spherical part are placed two metal plates (19) intended to hang the rod (16) of the curtain (I) in order to keep it in place when it is went down; due to the tension of the coil spring (20) contained in the pipe (2) support the curtain (I), the rod (16) fixed to the bottom
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
thereof, gets wedged in the angular notches (2l) formed by the aforesaid plates (19), which has the effect of energetically pressing the fabric (I) held rigid by the rod (16), against the rejection of water (18) which hermetically closes the entry from below and creates on this side also 1'ttightness to the passage of mosquitoes.
The curtain (I) is raised automatically as a result of the tension of the coil spring (20) which takes its point of tension (22) on the fixed axis (3) supporting the mobile pipe (2) and its point d action (23) which is integral with it. The curtain being lowered and held in place by the plates (19) of the water discharge (18) it suffices to release the rod (16) thereof, so that the ascent occurs automatically.
The cross members at the bottom of the opening frame are also provided with water discharges; these by their shape could come, by pressing on the fabric of the curtain (I), deform it, tear it, etc .; to obviate these drawbacks, the grooved slats (12) guiding the fabric are, downwards, slightly deviated from the vertical (24) and come flush with the end edge of the water discharge (18) of the fixed frame (5), so that the curtain by its rod (16) can be placed exactly under the retaining plates (19).
The lowered curtain allows to leave the opening open or closed.
Above the chairs (4) supporting the fixed axis (3) and the mobile pipe (2) on which the curtain (I) is placed, a covering (25) is placed which protects it from bad weather, water, snow, ice, dust, etc .; this covering (25) will be folded and curved on itself following the profile of the chair so that its lower edge (26) comes flush with the fabric of the curtain (I); Again, the mosquito cannot penetrate.
CLAIMS.
