<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 1 est une vue en élévation de côté, de la portion arrière d' un véhicule comportant application de l'invention, qui montre, dans deux posi- tions différentes,un container en chargement (ou déchargement) ;
Fige 2 est une vue plus détaillée, à échelle agrandie, partie en coupe, d'une portion de la fig. 1;
Fig. 3 est une vue partielle, à échelle encore agrandie, d'une portion de la fig. 2, montrant en particulier les organes de butée;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

IMPROVEMENTS IN THE HANDLING AND, OR TRANSPORT OF,
AND BY CONTAINERS.
The transport of goods by containers is well known and widely used. In general, the containers are transhipped from vehicle to wagon and vice versa, the vehicle ensuring the pick-up at the shipper and delivery to the recipient of this pick-up and delivery involving the loading and unloading operations of the containers. and from the vehicle. If the shipper or recipient does not have ad hoc equipment, or if the transport unit is not designed for this purpose, these loading and / or unloading maneuvers present serious difficulties, not only because of the dimensions and weight of the containers, but above all because they must be kept in a specific position or, in other words, cannot be tilted.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks or at least to mitigate them to a large extent.
Its object is a device which is adapted to the transport vehicle and capable of allowing the loading, or unloading, of at least one container in an easy manner or which, at the very least, is neither laborious. , nor painful, and which also makes it possible to incorporate said container into the loading of the vehicle while maintaining an acceptable distribution of this load.
The invention consists in using as a support for at least one container, arranged with its main axis parallel or more or less to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, the rear panel of the body of this vehicle, this panel being made movable in parallel. to itself to be brought to the ground or moved away from it for the maneuvers of loading or unloading of the container onto or from the vehicle.
As the said panel does not generally have, along the axis of the vehicle, a development equal to, or close to that of the support base of a container, according to the invention, means are provided which in association with said rear panel are suitable for providing a support for the cantilevered part of the support base of the container, these means being to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
preferably constituted by mobile and removable auxiliary members, which can also serve as movement guides and come to occupy different positions in the transverse direction of the vehicle,
According to another characteristic of the invention, stop members are provided to prevent the movement of the container during transport and, or its loading or unloading operations,
these stop members being able to be combined with the mobile auxiliary support members, and being able to be organized to serve as access ramps to these members.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the more detailed description which follows of certain preferred embodiments or embodiments, given by way of example and illustrated more or less schematically by the accompanying drawings on which :
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the rear portion of a vehicle incorporating the invention, which shows, in two different positions, a container being loaded (or unloaded);
Fig. 2 is a more detailed view, on an enlarged scale, partly in section, of a portion of fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a partial view, on a still enlarged scale, of a portion of FIG. 2, showing in particular the stop members;
Fig. 4 is a schematic plan of a portion of FIG, 1.
With reference to the drawings, at 1 (fig. 1) can be seen the rear of a transport vehicle, for example a motor vehicle, comprising a body 2 provided with a rear panel 3.
For the purposes of the invention, this panel 3 is organized in such a way that it can be maintained in a position substantially parallel to the floor 4 of the body, where appropriate in the extension thereof, and brought to from this position, moving parallel to itself, to the ground or so. For this purpose, any known mechanism may be provided, for example the one shown and which comprises, on each side of the body 2, an upright 5 connected by parallel connecting rods 6 to pivot pins 7 suitably fixed to the body and, or to the chassis of the vehicle, the lengths of the connecting rods 6 and their points of articulation being chosen to obtain the desired displacements of the panel 3, which is connected to the uprights 5, pivoting at 8 and by chains or other similar links at 9.
Any suitable control is provided to allow the execution of the up and down movements of the panel 3, in particular under load.
This control is exemplified by a lever 10, fixed to or integral with one of the connecting rods 6 and cooperating with a collapsible stop 11 and, where appropriate, a fixed stop 12, but it could be any other mechanical or hydraulic control. or even electric.
FIG. 1 shows, which is the most general case, that the panel 3 has, along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, a development less than the length of the container 13 (or of its load wheel set 14), that one intends to load onto, or unload from the vehicle.
In order, under these conditions, to allow this loading (or unloading), auxiliary members 15 are associated with the panel 3 which are suitable for providing a support for the part of the container extending beyond the panel 3.
These auxiliary members 15 are formed by lengths of profiles, for example of U-shaped section, which can serve as a guide for the carrying wheels 14 of the container, and they are suitably secured to the panel 3, in particular by hooking onto said panel in its zone. next to the cash register 2.
Fig. 2 shows such a fastening produced by having at one end of the section 15 a tenon 16 in the form of a hook, engaging in a notch 17 made in the panel to bear against a fitting 18 partially covering it, which can form an integral part of the framework of panel 3 or be fixed to the latter.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
I1 is advantageous, fig. 4, to provide in the panel 3, depending on the width of the vehicle, a series of notches such as 17, thus making it possible to choose the replacement to be occupied by the auxiliary members 15, and therefore by the container, in order to coordinate or properly balance the overall vehicle loading.
As can be seen in this figure, each auxiliary member 15, consisting of a U-shaped profile, is provided with two tenons 16 extending from its side wings, and the notches 17 are equally spaced along the transverse dimension of the panel.
Although generally, the securing described above or an equivalent securing is sufficient, it is preferable to prevent any floating or transverse displacement of the auxiliary members 15, by providing them, at a certain distance from the tenons 16, with a lug 19 fitting into a corresponding opening or cell 20 of panel 3.
.When the container 13 is loaded on the panel 3, whether the latter is in its raised position or is moving towards or from its lowered position on the ground, the container should not be able to move while rolling on its carrier train.
Although various means can be used to prevent this displacement, as the auxiliary members 15 are immobilized relative to the panel 3, it is preferable in turn to immobilize the container relative to the auxiliary members 15, which one can advantageously carry out as follows:
At the end of such a member 15 which is remote from its tenon (s) 16, a fitting is fixed comprising an axis or the ends of the pivot axis 21 substantially parallel to the adjacent edge of the profile constituting the member 15. , and a guide 22 substantially flush with said bors. Such a fitting can be formed, for example, by a section of profile, in particular U-shaped, of which the end extensions 23 of a wing are bent outwards to serve as brackets for fixing to the axle or axle ends 21. ..
On the other hand, a plate 24 of appreciable length, in principle at least equal to the radius of the carrying wheels of the container, and of a width practically equal to that of said section, is provided at one of its edges. transverse of one or more elongated loops 25, adapted to pivot on the axis, or the ends of the axis 21 and to slide on this axis or ends of the axis and against the guide 22,
Thanks to such an arrangement, it will be possible, as shown in FIG. 2 and even more clearly in FIG.
3, bring the plate 24 into an upright and locked position relative to the member 15 along the solid line, thereby opposing any outward movement of a container wheel engaged on. said member 15, and it will also be possible, by means of a lifting and tilting movement (following the line in phantom), to release the end of said member 15 to allow the said wheel to move outwardly. container.
When the panel 3 is brought to the ground, as shown in phantom in Figure 1, the plate 24 of a member 15, tilted as described above, will come to rest on the ground by its external transverse edge, and may serve as an access ramp for engaging the wheel of the container from the ground on the member 15 of the panel 3, or vice versa.
While it is on the panel 3, the container prevented from moving outwards by the means described above, could however still move inwards, which must be avoided. Various means could be used to prevent this last displacement, but it is however advantageous to use a device such as that described above, which does not include any detachable member liable to get lost or get lost,
Towards one end of an auxiliary member 15, preferably its external end, it is fixed in and in external projection on a wing of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
section which constitutes a pivot 26 with a head 27, and at some distance below this pivot, a lug 28 is fixed, also forming an external projection on the wing in question,
On the other hand, the pivot 26 receives, through an elongated slot 29 which it comprises, a fitting 30, consisting for example of a section of flat iron, provided at one end with a notch 31 specific to its s'. engage on the lug 28 to maintain the fitting 30 in a vertical and locked position 1 against any tilting, while by lifting, the notch 31 can be released from the lug allowing the tilting of said fitting . A stop 32 may be provided to support the tilted fitting with its longitudinal axis parallel to that of the section.
The location of the fitting 30 and its development are chosen such that in the locked position, shown in solid lines in FIGS. 2 and 3, it comes to rest on a fixed part of the container, for example the axle 33 of a wheel or of a pair of load wheels, preferably one or more outer load wheels, to prevent it from rolling. moving inward.
In addition, as shown, the arrangement is preferably such that the container locked against longitudinal displacement, does not enjoy any degree of freedom.
A container generally comprises. a fixed carrier axle and a steerable, steerable carrier axle, and the wheels of the steerable axle are generally closer together than those of the fixed axle. As a result, members 15 having to support only the wheels of one of the axles of the container, the wheels of the other axle will bear directly on the panel 3.
To facilitate the engagement or disengagement of these wheels on and from the panel, the free edge of the latter can be provided with a fixed inclined plane 34 as shown in fig. 1, or else as illustrated in FIG. 4, inclined planes which can be moved if necessary and which can be removed 34a can complete the equipment.
Such members can be arranged to slide in a slot 35 adjacent to the free edge of the panel 30.
It follows from the foregoing that a container transported by the vehicle (fig. 1) will be unloaded at the place of destination simply by lowering the panel 3 to the ground by an ad hoc maneuver of the articulated system 6-7, and, afterwards release of the locking members 24 and 30, and, where appropriate, installation of the removable inclined planes 34a, moving the container away from the vehicle sufficiently to free it from the panel 3 and the members 15.
For the loading of a container, we will naturally proceed to reverse maneuvers.
A container thus loaded can be transported on the panel 3, as it could be brought inside the body of the vehicle. In the latter case, during unloading, said container is first brought onto panel 3 in the situation illustrated in solid lines in FIG. 1.
Of course, nothing would prevent: loading more than one container on panel 3, or, where appropriate, in the, ¯vehicle. If loading and transport are carried out only with the container (s) supported by panel 3, the latter does not necessarily have to be raised to the level of the vehicle body floor, but its raised position may be located at any suitable intermediate level.
Although only certain embodiments or embodiments have been described, it is understood that the invention is not limited thereto, but that it encompasses variants and equivalent embodiments and executions.
