<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Pour simpli- fier la lecture du dessin, on a représenté à la figure 2 les chemins de roule- ment 18 et 19 décalés d'avant en arrière, bien que pratiquement ils seront portés dans le même plan par la paroi de véhicule ; plus chaque groupe de chemins 18-19 pourra même être remplacé par un chemin de roulement commun pour les deux galets 16-17. Lorsque le châssis 14 est à sa position haute, il peut pivoter autour d'un axe transversal, par exemple autour de ses galets 16 tan- dis que la boîte à ordures bascule et vient s'appliquer par exemple sur la fa- ce extérieure d'une hotte mobile 20 qui tourne à l'intérieur d'une hotte fixe 21 autour du même axe que le châssis 14 et est munie d'une porte pivotante 22;

HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE BOXES AND DEVICE FOR HANGING THEM ON THE
VEHICLES INTENDED FOR THE COLLECTION OF SUCH GARBAGE.
It has already been proposed to establish household garbage cans so as to allow their attachment to vehicles intended for the collection of household garbage as well as their tilting, for example by about 135, to ensure their discharge inside the body of the vehicle, while these are equipped with a special support on which the garbage boxes to be emptied are hung and which allows the tilting mentioned above.
Such a hooking system, allowing the tilting of the hooked box, can be associated in particular with a dumping device with a mobile hood and a pivoting door, against which the box is applied during its tilting and which allows the dumping. garbage inside the vehicle without release of dust to the outside o
In the systems already proposed, the box is generally hooked at two diametrically opposed points, for example by members forming journals which are housed on corresponding pads, thus allowing the box to tilt after it has been hooked o It is then necessary to provide the boxes of two fastening members, which complicates the manufacture of these boxes and increases the price.
these two components run the risk of assuming defective relative positions if the gearbox deforms with use. Finally, the simultaneous installation of two fastening members on their supports is not always easy and complicates the operation of the gearboxes. giving rise to the risk of incorrect maneuvers or accidents.
The object of the invention, by overcoming the above drawbacks, is to allow the easy installation of the box without requiring a complicated box shape or one comprising fragile parts liable to deform or to deteriorate if the box is operated. without special precautions.
The essential characteristic of the invention consists, in that the garbage boxes are provided with a single hooking member constituted by a handle provided towards the upper part of its side wall, while the collection vehicle comprises, of on the one hand, a support capable of oscillating around
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a horizontal axis and provided with a hook intended to receive the hanging handle and, on the other hand, two lateral support surfaces, arranged symmetrically with respect to the diametral vertical plane of the hanging box , intended to receive the lower part of the side wall of the boot while supporting the latter in a substantially vertical position, the box then being supported at three points on which it is automatically centered,
The lateral support surfaces can be fixed on the vehicle, in particular if the box is intended to be tilted by hand, or on the contrary be integral with the oscillating support and accompany the box during its tilting, in particular if the latter. this is provided by a driving force acting on the oscillating support.
The boot is advantageously provided with a hinged cover, including -la. hinge is located opposite the hooking handle and this cover may itself include, opposite its hinge, an operating handle which may cooperate with a hook of the pivoting door of a mobile hood dumping device, if vehicles intended for refuse collection are equipped with such a device. The upper part of the side wall of the box will also preferably be provided with two lateral operating handles, diametrically opposed and positioned 90 from the hooking handle.
Finally, the upper edge of the gearbox body may include a reinforcing flange which will increase rigidity and protect the gearbox body and the cover against shocks, at the same time that it may cooperate with the possible mobile hood of the vehicle to ensure a Perfect waterproof application of the top end of the box against the outside face of this hood.
An embodiment of the invention will be described below by way of example with reference to the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic view of the outer face of a vehicle wall provided with a device for attachment according to the invention; Figure 2 is a corresponding vertical section in which the box is shown in the hooked position and in the course of tilting; Figure 3 is a view of the box in elevation on a larger scale; Figure 4 is a corresponding plan view; FIG. 5 shows in vertical section on an enlarged scale the attachment member of the vehicle with part of the box in the attachment position; and FIG. 6 is a horizontal section of the lateral bearing surfaces of the vehicle and of the box in the hooked position.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the refuse box (Figures 3 and 4) comprises a metal body 1 which is generally frustoconical in shape, flared upwards, and the open upper part of which is provided with a hinged cover 2 rotating around a horizontal axis 3 supported by tabs 4 integral with the body 1 The latter is reinforced at its upper part by a collar 5 which protrudes over the entire periphery, protecting against the bumps or drops, both the top edge of the box and the cover.
According to the invention, the gearbox body 1 is provided towards its upper part with a handle 6 opposite to the hinge of the cover and this handle 6 is intended to be hooked onto a pivoting hook 7 carried by the vehicle which is also provided with two lateral support surfaces 8-9 intended to receive the lower part of the body 1 at points symmetrical with respect to the vertical diametral plane of the box passing through the hook 7, such that the box, hooked up as shown in Figures 2 and 5, is supported at three points which ensure satisfactory centering.
To facilitate this centering of the box and its correct application on the support members, the hook 7 may have an oblique rear face 10, as shown in FIG. 5, so that the handle 6 slides on this inclined plane 10 up to 'so that the box rests without play on its support.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The box body also comprises side handles 11-12 to 90 for operating the hooking handle 6 and the top of the cover may be provided with an operating handle 13 in the region opposite to the hinge.
In the particular example shown, it has been assumed that the hook 7 and the bearing surfaces 8-9 are integral with a frame 14 capable of sliding vertically, then of pivoting about a horizontal axis when it reaches its high position; bearing surfaces 8-9 are preferably made up of resilient shock-absorbing cushions, made of rubber or the like, carried for example by the ends of a horizontal cross member in an arc 15 which is integral with the frame 14 This frame 14 can run by rollers 16-17 on vertical tracks 18-19 and its movement can be ensured by any suitable motor system.
To simplify the reading of the drawing, there is shown in FIG. 2 the rolling tracks 18 and 19 offset from front to back, although they will be substantially carried in the same plane by the vehicle wall; more each group of tracks 18-19 can even be replaced by a common track for the two rollers 16-17. When the frame 14 is in its high position, it can pivot around a transverse axis, for example around its rollers 16, while the garbage box tilts and comes to rest for example on the outer face of the frame. a mobile hood 20 which rotates inside a fixed hood 21 about the same axis as the frame 14 and is provided with a pivoting door 22;
the latter opens by driving the cover 2 of the box, thanks to the action of a hook 23 of this door which engages in the handle 13, while the box tilts to empty.
Although, in the example shown, it has been assumed that the hook 7 is integral with a support which is both sliding in height and pivoting in the high position, it will be understood that this example is in no way limiting and that the hook can be carried by a simple pivoting part provided just below the tilting region, that is to say in a position corresponding to the high position of the frame 14 shown; This arrangement will be particularly useful when the tipping region is at a moderate height, for example in the case of low vehicles, and it will then be easy to hook the box directly by hand to its tipping position .
In this case, the lateral bearing surfaces 8-9 could pivot with the hook 7 or, on the contrary, be fixed, if the tilting is effected by a simple push effected on the box itself.
