caractéristique essentielle de l'invention, réalisé par le fait que des fentes, obliques par rapport à l'axe longitu- dinal de la pince, sont pratiquées sur la face incurvée de chaque flasque, à des emplacements coïncidants de l'une et l'autre flasque, avec une obliquité en sens inverse pour chacune d'elles ;

Binding pliers for leaflets and documents
The present invention relates to a binding clamp for leaflets.
The clamp according to the invention is essentially constituted by two elongated flanges which are the two jaws of the clamp. Each of these flanges is shaped so as to have two faces: a flat flange, intended to be applied against the documents to be bound, and a curved face in the form of a gutter, of the same curvature for each of the two flanges.
These two flanges being in contact with one another by the said curved faces, the simultaneous movement of the said flanges, which determines the opening and the closing of the clamp is, in accordance with the

essential feature of the invention, achieved by the fact that slits, oblique with respect to the longitudinal axis of the clamp, are made on the curved face of each flange, at coincident locations of one and the another flange, with an obliquity in the opposite direction for each of them;
a pin, formed on a rod capable of sliding in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the clamp, is engaged in the superimposed slots of each of the two flanges, so as to determine, under the sliding effect of the rod, the movement of scissors which brings the two flanges closer together or away from each other.
The binding clamp which forms the subject of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings.
- Figure 1 is a plan view; FIG. 2 is a view in axial longitudinal section; - Figure 3 is a sectional view taken along the line AA of Figure 2.
- Figure 4 is the plan view of a variant of the embodiment shown on the figures! to 3; - Figure 5 is an axial longitudinal sectional view corresponding to Figure 4.
- Figure 6 is a sectional view taken along the line BB of Figure 5.
The clamp (fig. 1 to 3) consists of two elongated flanges each comprising a flat cheek, respectively 1 and 1a ;, and a curved face, respectively 2 and 2a, these two faces having the same curvature and resting

one over the other. A fold 3, formed at each of the ends of the face 2, encloses the face 2a and prevents the two faces 2 and 2a from sliding longitudinally on one another without opposing their circular transverse sliding with a view to the closing or opening of the clamp.
The simultaneous movement of the flanges is achieved by the fact that oblique slots 4 and 4a are made, respectively on the face 2 and the face 2a, at locations which coincide with one and the other flange, but with an obliquity. in the reverse direction for each of the slots 4 and 4a; a lug 5, provided on a sliding rod 6, is engaged in the two coinciding slots 4 and 4a, so that the sliding of the rod 6 causes a scissor movement which determines the opening or @ closing of the clamp, the curved faces 2 and 2a of the same curvature, then sliding transversely in contact with one another. The rod 6 forms, at its ends, tabs 7 which allow it to be grasped by hand for its operation.
Figures 4, 5 and 6 relate to a variant of the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3. In this case, the rod 6, instead of being mounted on the outside of the back, is housed in the 'inside the thin, the lugs 5 being directed outwards. The rod 6 is operated by one of its ends, provided for this purpose, with a tab 7a.
It is understood that the device may have a single or any number of pairs of slots 4-4a.
The clamp is fixed to the cover by any suitable means (tubular rivets in holes 8 provided for this purpose, stapling, etc.).
