<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Le poussoir exerçant son action sur le fil possède de pré- férenoe la forme d'une fourche dont les branches se déplacent, après casse du fil, entre des griffes fixes de telle manière que le fil prend la forme d'un serpentin, ce qui met le bout flottant cassé hors d'atteinte de tout autre organe de la ma- chine;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Device for automatically stopping the feed of the yarn in twisting looms and other similar looms.
The present invention applies to twisting looms and other looms of the same type and its aim is to make it possible by particularly simple and certain means to automatically stop the feeding of the yarn when the yarn breaks.
It also aims to radically eliminate the waste that occurs in existing looms in which the broken thread is wound around a special cylinder covered with lint called "pick-up".
Another object is to make it possible to put in place a warning signal which is visible from a distance and which is capable of indicating the location of the loom where the breakage has occurred.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It is also an object to regulate the tension of the threads during the period of twisting.
Finally, the invention tends to allow faster repair of the broken wire.
With a view to achieving these aims, the device which is the object of the invention is essentially characterized in that a pusher, which, in normal operation, exerts minimal pressure on the wire, is connected to an assembly of 'pivoting members, whose tilting, produced automatically when the wire breaks, releases the pusher and determines the intervention of members causing the stopping of the feed of the wire.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, this assembly of pivoting members comprises a rolling mass which, at the moment of the breakage of the thread, produces a displacement of the center of gravity of this assembly and an increase in torque by determining the release. of the pusher and actuation of the feed stop devices.
This assembly is usually formed of two plates which are connected to the pusher and which can oscillate around an axis carried by two fixed flanges and between these plates is provided the rolling mass placed on a solid inclined plane. plates. '
The pusher exerting its action on the wire preferably has the shape of a fork whose branches move, after breaking of the wire, between fixed claws in such a way that the wire takes the form of a coil, which puts the broken floating end out of reach of any other part of the machine;
The accompanying drawings show purely by way of example how the invention can be implemented in practice:
Figures 1 and 2 are overall schematic views.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 1 shows all of the organs in the positions occupied when operation is normal. Figure 2 shows these same organs after the breakage of a thread.
Figure 3 is a section through the line III-III in Figure 1. '
FIG. 4 is a detailed perspective view showing the tilting plates between which the inclined plane is provided.
FIGS. 5 and 6 are detail views of the pusher and of the fixed claws and showing this part of the mechanism respectively in the normal position and in the position after breaking a thread: '
Figure 7 is a detail view.
As emerges from the appended drawings., The apparatus object of the invention comprises two flanges 1 and 2 forming a frame connected by spacers 3, 4, 5, 6 61 and between which is mounted an assembly capable of pivoting around it. a pin 7 made integral with each of the flanges 1 and 2. This assembly is made up of two plates 8 and 9 which are also braced at 10, 11 and 12; between these plates is provided an inclined plane 13 which is made integral with the latter by means of tabs 14 with which it is provided and rivets or other fasteners 15.
On this inclined plane is placed a roller or a mass 16; '
To each of the plates 8-9 is hooked a rod 17 (figures 1, 2 and 3) and these rods 17 extend parallel to each other so as to pass between the spacers 3-4 and to project towards the end. 'outside at the place of the passage of the wire where they are connected by a branch 18 forming part of a fork-shaped pusher. In the example shown, this pusher comprises three branches: the branch 18 and two branches 19 connected to the branch 18.
With the fork 18-19 cooperate claws 20 which make
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
projection on a plate 21 fixed to one of the flanges 1 or 2, for example by screws 22.
The wire 23 passes as usual through a wire guide 24, then between the feed rollers 25 and 26 and then between the teeth 20 and 18-19 of the device, object of the invention and retains by its tension the pusher 18-19 in the retracted position shown in figure 1:
In this position, the pivoting assembly 8-9-13-16 has its center of gravity very close to the pivot axis 7 and exerts on the wire strand a minimal but adjustable pressure to within a range fraction.
When the yarn breaks at the twisting slider, the pusher 18-19 is released and the swivel assembly 8-9-13-16 rocks about the axis 7 to such an extent that the inclined plane 13 supporting the roller. 16 protrudes from the horizontal and is brought into the position shown in FIG. 2 while the mass 16 performs a rolling movement backwards until it is stopped by the cross member 12. This movement displaces strongly the center of gravity of the whole which continues its course by a couple several times a hundredfold.
Breaking the thread anywhere has the same effect.
This movement of the pivoting assembly, however, has another consequence linked to the presence of rods 27 which take by buttonholes 28 on tenons 29 carried by the flanges 8-9 and on which are articulated, by the intermediate of a pin 30, free between the flanges 1-2, rods 31 articulated in turn on a pin 32 connecting the flanges 1 and 2. On this spacer 32, rods 33 are mounted ending in hooks 34 for fixing a cleat 35 which can be inserted between the cylinders 25 and 26.
Each return linkage 27-31-33 can be formed by
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a single piece of elastic metal taking around the axes 30 and 32 by means of eyelets 36 and 37.
In the position shown in FIG. 1 for the tilting assembly, the linkage 27-31-33 occupies the position also shown in this figure but, when the release produced by the breakage of the wire., This linkage is brought. in the position of FIG. 2, so as to allow the engagement of the stopper 35 between the rollers 25 and 26, which stops the arrival of the thread.
This device for stopping the power supply could, however, be designed and produced in any other suitable manner.
An important consequence of the arrangement adopted with regard to the shape of the pusher 18-19 and its cooperation with the claws 20 is that the pendant wire takes the form of a serpentine 231 (figure 2), which therefore puts the floating end out of the reach of any other part of the machine.
In addition, the pusher 18-19 can carry a disc 38 provided with an indicator member and connected to the pusher 18-19 by a branch 39. This indicator member can be constituted by an indicator, an index or a signal, for example. luminous (glass or other transparent material) which, invisible before triggering, becomes visible after operation of the safety device.
The apparatus is completed by a lever 41 (figures 2 and 5) which can oscillate on the plate 21, and which serves by a projection 42 to individually wedge each apparatus in order to allow the repair of the broken wire. This wedging action s' exerted on the disc 38 integral with the pusher 18-19.
The position shown, in solid lines, in Figure 1 corresponds to that of the wedging, while the position 421 (Figures 1 and 2) is that of offset.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Maintaining in the wedging position is produced by a leaf spring 43 fixed to a cross member 44 of the flanges 1-2 and gives rise to sufficient pressure via the spacer 12 on the pusher 18-19 for keep lever 41 up.
After connecting the wire to the spindle and restarting the spindle, the wire is slipped between the claws 20 and the fork 19, as shown in figure 5, and pressure is then exerted on the pusher 18- 19 in the direction indicated by arrow F in FIG. 5, which automatically shifts the apparatus. The wire then assumes its normal position of FIG. 5, while simultaneously the lever 41 falls into the position also represented by FIG. 5, since it is no longer retained by the pusher which has been moved.
The stroke of the spring 43 is limited by a stop 44.
A general control device comprises a flat bar 46 pierced with oblique slides 47 (FIG. 7) in which are engaged studs 48 of pawls 49 which, when they are pushed inwards, prevent the triggering of the device. that the spacer 12 comes into its path, abut on the point 50 of the pawl.
When the device is triggered, this spacer can be placed below the tip of the oliquet and can be brought back to its upper position due to the fact that the tip of the oliquet can be lifted thanks to the presence of the clearance 51 (figure 1 ).
This arrangement therefore makes it possible to restart the device with the general control in the stalled position, but does not allow tripping until the general control has been released.
The longitudinal movement of the bar 46 therefore makes it possible to push together the pawls of all the devices in line.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
and remove them. This longitudinal movement can be achieved by a simple reduction lever. hand placed at the end of the machine.
The control bar will consist of elements connecting five or ten devices and these elements are assembled end to end over the necessary length.
Due to the fact that it exerts a slight pressure or a braking on the thread., The pusher is, by its mobility, a very sensitive regulator of the tension of this thread, '
