<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
fauteuil.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
vis 6.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

" Seat
The invention relates to chairs intended more particularly for use with work tables, for example office chairs, the seat of which itself is not only rotating, but also tilting in order to lend itself to a convenient sitting position.
To achieve a smooth rocking motion and increase the feeling of safety during the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
tilts of the seat itself, we have already fitted sets of springs under the latter. The sets of springs were then arranged parallel to the surface of the seat itself and this, in combination with their cumbersome fixing and locking device and with the separate pivoting device, for example a support screw, was so harmful. the appearance of the rocking chairs that their use for representative purposes was problematic. A very big disadvantage was also the very heavy weight and the consequent lack of maneuverability.
Furthermore, this embodiment comprising the use of a large number of additional fittings made the rocking chair so expensive that its cost price was in no way commensurate with the advantage provided by the convenient position of the chair. the user seated.
The present invention relates to an arrangement making it possible to overcome these drawbacks and applicable to swivel and tilting chairs; which arrangement comprises a simplified elastic device mounted, with the pivot bearing inside the support element of the rocking chair, this support element preferably being a hollow body. The construction is thereby considerably simplified and from an aesthetic point of view it is also possible to give this chair a particularly forward presentation.
According to the invention, the adjustment of the rocking movement of the upper part of the chair is provided by an elastic member, for example a simple tension or compression spring, a rubber tie rod, etc., housed in the seat. interior of the hollow body or support element, so that it is not visible from the outside. Suitable adjusters allow adjustment of both the spring tension or pressure and the amplitude of the rocking motion of the upper part of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
armchair. The hollow body can be closed at the upper end by means of a ball bearing which allows the wheelchair to be moved in rotation without compromising its external appearance. In the latter case, the arrangement may be such that the hollow body or support element does not participate in the rotation.
However, it is possible to make the hollow body itself participate in the rotation by providing a pivot bearing which surrounds the hollow body and which rests on the foot. The rocking and swiveling movement of the seat itself is thus silenced and gives the seated person a feeling of safety and great comfort.
Several exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the appended schematic drawing in which: FIGS. I and 2 represent in section a tilting chair in the normal position and in the tilted position, respectively; Figures 3 and 4 show two other embodiments of the rocking chair; FIG. 5 represents a variant of the elastic suspension of the chair; Figures 6 and 7 illustrate other simpler embodiments of the rocking chair; FIG. 8 represents a variant.
In the embodiment shown in the figure, the upper part I of the chair comprises, for example, a steel tube casing and the lower part or support is constituted by a hollow body 2 supported by a roller foot 3, this foot also being made of tubular steel. The hollow body 2 contains an ordinary tension spring 4 fixed, on the one hand, to the traction lever 5 integral with the upper part of the chair and, on the other hand, to the lower adjustment device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
screw 6. The upper end of the hollow body is closed by a ball bearing 7 on which the bearing 8 of the seat itself rests.
The upper part of the wheelchair is mounted to tilt on the axis 9 secured, on the one hand, to said upper part of the wheelchair and, on the other hand, to the traction lever 5.
The operation of the tilting chair is illustrated in figure 2. The overturning of the seated person causes the upper part of the chair to tilt around the axis 9 and the traction lever 5 tightens the traction spring 4, so that the rocking movement remains subject to sufficient elastic traction.
It is then possible to make the seat itself pivot on the ball bearing 7, both in the normal position and in the tilted position of the upper part of the chair, without changing its height position. , as happens for example in screw connections and is felt to be a disadvantage. So that the rotation of the chair can always take place at will in the same direction, without causing distortion of the tension spring 4, the lower fixing member is mounted on the pivot 10 so that it can be easily rotated. . An adjustment device 11 enables the amplitude of the tilting movement of the chair to be adjusted.
The bearing 7 is established so that the normal position of the chair is defined by the application of the traction lever 5 against the straight face 12 of the passage formed in said bearing 7, while the extreme amplitude of the movement of rocker is delimited by the application of said traction lever 5 against the inclined face 13 of the bearing.
It is not essential to delimit the positions, in abutment, of the traction lever 5 by the bearing 7 itself; on the contrary, by employing a normal thrust bearing with a larger bore, one can limit the movement of the thrust lever.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
any other way, for example by means of a sheet steel disc comprising corresponding recesses and arranged under the aforementioned bearing.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the tilting axis 9 of the upper part I of the tilting and rotating chair is offset relative to the geometric axis of the hollow body 2 so that, during tilting, the traction rod 5, articulated at point 14, vertically lifts the tension spring 4 which thus eliminates any movable or / or articulated assembly in the base. In order to allow rotation, provision has been made in this case, for example, for a ball bearing 15 resting directly on the rolling frame 16, here constituted by hollow feet. In this way, the hollow body 2 rotates here with the upper part I of the chair, and the spring is not subjected to a rotational stress.
What is essential in this embodiment is that, unlike the embodiment shown in Figures I and 2, the thrust ball 15 is not subjected to the constant load due to the tension of the spring.
It is therefore sufficient to size the thrust ball bearing only taking into account the seat load. The embodiment according to FIG. 3 comprises, as an elastic member, for example a compression spring 17 resting, on the one hand, on the lower cup 19 held by two rods 18 and, on the other hand, against. the bowl 21 held by the rod 20.
While the rods 18 with the cup 19 are carried by the connecting rod 5, the pull rod 20 with the cup 21 is held by the lower adjuster 6 which serves to adjust the rocking movement and which can be achieved under a particularly simple shape due to the uniform vertical bias of the compression spring.
Figure 4 is a vertical section through the hollow body (forming a support) of another embodiment of the chair
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
tilting and rotating. The curved lever 22 secured to the tilting axis 9 is based on a transmission system that multiplies the traction or the spring pressure, in this case on the push arm of an angled lever 23 for example, the traction arm of which is connected to the tie rod 24 of the spring device 25. The latter device here comprises for example two endless elastics (rubber rings) 26 hooked up and down on the fixing bars 27.
In its lower part, the hollow body 2 comprises a spherical cap 28 held with play in the studs 29 not the aforementioned elastic bands. A spherical segment 31 carrying the adjustable spring holder 30 rests against the spherical cap 28.
This device participates both in the oblique position of the tension spring and in the rotation of the upper part of the chair, according to the embodiment shown in fig I.
The operation of the embodiment according to figure to is as follows: Under the effect of the rocking movement of the upper part I of the auteuil, the lever 22 (integral with the axis 9) actuates the angled lever 23 articulated at the point 32 located approximately in the geometrical axis of the hollow body 2. Due to the transmission ratio greater than that of the simple displacement of the lever 22, the spring device 25, articulated to the traction arm of the angled lever, is urged in an increased measurement, which has the consequence of substantially increasing the effect of traction or compression of the spring device. The adjustment device 33 makes it possible to adjust the rocking movement of the upper part of the chair within the desired limits.
Figure 5 shows another possible embodiment of the elastic suspension for adjusting the amplitude of the rocking motion of the upper part of the chair.
Two tension or compression springs 34, resting transversely against the lever 35 integral with the upper part
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
chair, are used here to adjust the rocking movement. The tension of the springs 34 can be adjusted by means of the adjuster 36, while the rocking movement is limited by means of the adjuster 37.
A simplified embodiment of the swivel and tilting chair is shown in figure 6. The upper part I of the chair is mounted on the axis of rotation 38, directly inside the hollow body 2, so that the movement of The rocker is limited by the support of the cam 39 on the edge of the hollow body. During the tilting movement of the chair, the eccentric cam 41 secured to the rocking bearing 40 slides on the spherical cap 42 which, in turn, acts on the compression spring 43. The spring pressure can be adjusted. using the adjustment device 44.
The hollow body with the spring device is supported by the outer bearing 15 so that here again the rotational movement occurs in solidarity with the hollow body 2, without the bearing 15 being exposed to bear a load from. spring pressure.
Instead of the bearing 15 placed on the side, it is also possible, in this embodiment, to arrange a suitable bearing stop in the bottom of the hollow body 2, in the rolling frame of corresponding conformation. The embodiment shown in FIG. 4 can thus still undergo numerous modifications.
Figure 7 shows another simplified embodiment of the tilting chair, embodiment consisting essentially in the fact that the lever 5 fixed on the tilting axis 9 acts on a torsion spring 45 made of rubber or steel arranged at the interior of the hollow body 2, the operation being particularly advantageous to the rocking movement of the upper part of the chair when the torsion spring used is a rubber spring.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
Figure 8 shows another embodiment of the rocking chair, in which a torsion spring 50 of rubber or steel is mounted on the tilting axis 9 of the bearing 8 of the seat and directly causes the adjustment of the seat. rocking movement. The axis 9 is housed in an internal sliding housing 46, by its ends bearing bumps 47, in the hollow body 2 and resting on a support ball 48 in the hollow body 2. The adjustment of the amplitude of the rocking movement is ensured by means of an adjustment device 49 arranged on the edge of the hollow body 2.
Instead of the support ball 48 mounted in the hollow body 2, it is also possible to transfer the support point in the foot: of the rolling frame, by means of a support rod fixed to the sliding housing 46.
The various embodiments described show that, without departing from the spirit of the invention, simple elastic devices can be widely used in cases where hollow bodies are provided as supports for the suspension system. elastic swing and swivel bearing. Thanks to the use of light construction elements, the invention makes it possible to produce a tilting and rotating chair which is particularly convenient, easy to handle, with a low cost price and which also meets the most demanding requirements in the field. aesthetic point of view.
