<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
REVENDICATIONS.

Transportable forestry machine for sawing wood ".
The invention relates to a machine capable of operating on tree-bearing sites and specially combined in order to satisfy, thanks to very simple adaptations, multiple uses such as on the one hand sawing with displacement of the machine, or for transverse sawing, or cutting, either for length sawing and on the other hand sawing, operating as on a stationary machine.
According to the invention, the motor driving the saw, the movement transformation mechanism and the support device as well as possibly guiding the tang are carried by a single frame mounted on wheels.
A particular feature of the invention consists in that this frame can be supported, while remaining possibly capable of transverse or longitudinal displacements, on the one hand.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
by means of road wheels, on the other hand by means of rollers, finally by means of claws which can be raised.
Another particularity consists in that the saw can be adapted for cutting off at one end of a support slide with reciprocating movement capable of pivoting, and for longitudinal sawing at the second end of this slide which moves at a distance of its control axis greater than the distance at which the first end moves.
Various other features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the accompanying drawings which show by way of example one embodiment of the invention.
In these drawings:
Figure 1 is a simplified side view of the machine used for cutting off.
Figure 2 is a simplified side view in the case of use for ripping.
Figure 3 is a simplified side view in the case of use as a stationary machine.
Figure 4 is an end view from the side of the drawbar, the road wheels being offset 90 as for cutting.
Figure 5 shows the protective cage and the removable upright.
Figure 6 is a side view of the machine provided with the protective cage and the removable upright.
Figure 7 shows the articulation of the drawbar and the clamping device, allowing the saw to be temporarily immobilized.
The frame 20 of the machine is transportable thanks to the fact that it is mounted on road wheels such as 2.
The plane of these wheels can be displaced anularly by 90 to bring them in the orientation corresponding to the cutting shown in Figures 1 and-'4.
This frame carries the engine whose axis is visible at 21 (figure 6), as well as the fuel tank 22. It carries
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
plus the mechanism for transmitting and transforming the movement from the motor to the saw.
We see in particular a transmission chain 23 in Figures 4 and 6.
This transmission mechanism drives the transmission shaft 24 (FIGS. 4 and 7) carrying a crank plate 25 on which the head of the connecting rod 26 is articulated, the foot of which is articulated at the end 6a of a slide 6 which can receive silk 1 either on said end 6a or on the opposite end 6b or second end.
End 6a moves closer to axis 24 than does end 6b.
The slide 6 can pivot around the axis 24 in particular for its location at the start of sawing or in certain phases, or during the progress of sawing.
Other peculiarities of the machine will be explained below, indicating different uses. By fixing the saw 1 to the end of the slide 6 on the connecting rod end side and by pivoting the road wheels 2 to 90, an ordinary chainsaw is obtained (figure 1).
The tiller 3 of the maohine is adjustable according to the height of the saw log and provided with a claw 4 able to engage in the wood.
On one side of the handle 3b is placed a hardwood stopper 5 (Figure 4) which serves as a lateral guide for the tang. The handle 3b is sliding so that it can be fixed on the side for cutting or in the middle for cutting lengthwise.
When sawing to length, the saw plates are placed with a slope of about 5% (figure 2) towards the rear to facilitate the penetration of the blade. The saw is fixed on the second end of the slide (6) and the protective cage 27 (figure 5) provided with a handle (27a) is placed, as well as the lower upright 28 on which are mounted a thrust roller 14 and
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the saw guides 29. To start sawing, the machine is fixed with the two claws 7 (figures 8 and 4) and while sawing, the saw blade is made to make an arc from top to bottom (V X W).
When the blade is vertical, we fix the saw with the nut lever 9 and the lock 10 (figure 7) and we lift the 1-riffs 7. We then place the guide roller (11) in the line and 1. 'we continue to saw until the end, finishing by making the blade an are of a circle from bottom to top WX.
The disc guide roller (11) is freely mounted on axis 11a between two opposing springs llb. The two front rollers 13a are made of hard rubber and retained on each side by a spring, which allows them to move longitudinally on the axis and thus keep the correct orientation of the kerf.
Depending on the sawn requirements, it is possible, by moving the rings 15a which retain the springs, to slightly change the spacing of the rollers.
As far as possible, reciprocating movement parts will be made of lightweight materials.
It is equally possible to use saw blades sawing in one or both directions.
The blades will be perforated to allow better evacuation of the sawdust.
Engine ventilation will maintain visibility of the kerf. On the lower part of the upright 28 a roller 14 maintains the thrust of the saw.
By fixing the drawbar 3 downwards by the clamping device 3a (FIG. 7), the direction of the thrust is changed, which makes it possible to run the machine effortlessly.
The slide 6 will preferably be made of stainless steel tubing with a square section and adjustable pads.
The vertical movement can be balanced by
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a heavy flywheel or, to reduce the weight, by long compression springs placed in the upper part of the uprights. These springs, not shown, remain compressed at will by a lock, not shown; for parting off.
By fixing the machine on a roller table 29 FIG. 3 and turning the saw over, teeth on the drawbar side, an ordinary stationary saw is obtained.
Under the table 29, an additional hardwood or roller pusher 14 is fixed to allow greater thrust on the saw,
To place the roller disc 11 mentioned above during length sawing, the axis must be moved longitudinally to the right of FIG. 4 until this disc 11 is brought into the plane of the surface of attach the saw to the second end 6b of the slide $ 6. Next, the disc is rotated down. Once the disc 11 is engaged in the line of silk, it is fixed with the flywheel 16. On the lower part of the removable upright 28 are placed four guides 29 on the side of silk and two pads for the thrust roller 14 in order to be able to return. floss, teeth forward (Figure 2) or backward (Figure 3).
