<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Valve control device for the flow of fluids.
The present invention relates to a simple and efficient valve control device, capable of operating in all directions and ensuring, in the open position, the free flow of fluids. Such a device will find its application in particular in the control of flow valves ensuring automatic operation of reverse float water traps.
In such devices, the operation of an unbalanced valve requires, in an initial phase, the application of a force capable of detaching the valve applied to its seat by the pressure prevailing in the enclosure and, in a second phase. , obtaining a valve stroke sufficient to ensure full release of the passage section and with a reduced force.
Now, as in any lever control device these two phases require exactly opposite arrangements, we have to choose a bastard solution, generally made of a compromise determined by the average dimensions of all the components, but which leads to serious drawbacks, such as the limitation of the passage section with regard to the pressure, the

reduction @ its minimum, or at least to an insufficient value, of the stroke of the valve, the need for a high control power, causing a: the; external dimensions of the device.
The present invention consists essentially in the provision of a lever whose arms are variable during operation and capable of ensuring initially the maximum power at the time of separation Thanks to a large gear ratio that, in the second time, the The amplitude of the stroke is increased by a decreasing gear ratio; or reduced.
The invention will be better understood from the following description of some of the embodiments given by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 schematically represents a first application of the principle explained above, according to which the lever 1 which carries the valve 2 is provided with a cam 5 which can roll on a fixed base 4 so that when the valve detaches this cam takes point support at a to then move it to b during operation. The lever arm on which the valve lifting force is exerted is therefore initially at its maximum to overcome, while requiring only a small power, the separation force, then this reduction decreases while increases the amplitude of the stroke of the valve in order to provide passage for the liquid to be flowed as seen at the position indicated in phantom.
A variant is shown in fig. 2 depending on which the lever 1 is provided with two or more bosses 3, 3 'bearing on the base 4 at different points a, b by determining, as in the previous example, different ratios of the lever arms with a view to firstly facilitate the lifting of the valve 2 out of its seat, then its rapid separation which largely unmasks it.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show the application of the device to an inverted float trap, respectively in the closed, take-off and open position of the valve. The lever 1 is then mounted on the wall 7 of the trap by means of a pin 8 capable of moving in the buttonhole 9 of a lug 10 integral with this wall.
The lever 1 is angled at right angles and its other end is connected by an articulation 11 to the bell 12 of the trap.
On the other hand the branch of the lever parallel to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
wall 7 of the trap carries the valve 2 as well as a boss 3 arranged between this valve and the axis 8.
During the rest period (fig. 3) following a purge, the bell 12 is in its high position, the boss 3 presses on the wall 7 of the purger, the pin 8 is pushed fully to the right in the buttonhole 9, and the valve 2 rests energetically on its seat.
As soon as the bell, under the influence of the condensations begins to fall, the lever 1 supported by the boss 3 against the wall 7 tilts causing the separation of the pet valve 2 and its axis 8 gains at the same time the end opposite the buttonhole (fig. 4) next to the wall.
The downward movement of the bell is accentuated, the lever 1, then articulated on the axis 8, causes a large retreat of the valve 2 to fully free the orifice 13 for the water discharge and perform a new one. bleed under the influence of the pressure in the bleed valve (fig. 5).
It can therefore be seen that this arrangement makes it possible to perform the opening of the valve in two stages, the first with a great force on this valve and short stroke, the second without effort and with a large stroke of the valve. Closing is also done in reverse order.
