<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"Elastic junction member between turbine disc and shaft." Priority of the patent application in Germany filed July 25, 1938 n S.133 150 1/14 c. in the name of SIEMENS-SCHUCKERT- WERKE AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, and of which the aforementioned Company is the beneficiary.
In steam turbines, especially in those for high temperatures called upon radially, it has been shown to be necessary to detach from the rigid junction between the disc and the shaft and instead of combining these two parts through the intermediary of 'an elastic junction member.
Similar reflections also apply to combined turbine disks.
Until now, it has been the custom to machine, the elastic member of the junction of the material of one of the two construction parts, which had to be allied *
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
When the required elsticity is guaranteed only in the case that the connecting members are relatively thin, it happens that these members are during assembly and disassembly exposed to the danger of being damaged.
Due to the fact that the steam acts attacking and that also corrosions can enter, it is obvious that these two parts are also exposed to danger during the exercise.
A greater safety is obtained when the junction member is not made up of a single piece with the parts to combine, but that it is made separately in the case of two parts.
From here the invention takes off.
It consists in that at least one of the two joints is constituted by a screw connection.
In this case, there is the possibility of choosing for the junction member another material such as that of the disc or of the shaft, so for example a material with another coefficient of thermal expansion or a material of extremely high elasticity or a material resistant to chemical or mechanical influences and the like.
It is furthermore advantageous that when employing the invention, the sensitive, elastic joint parts can easily be changed and that they allow a construction which guarantees a vapor-tight closure. the centering of the disc vis-à-vis the shaft or to the parts of the disc between them is impeccable, without any additional forces occurring due to the junction of the disc and the shaft.
More advantageous is in addition that by the appropriate construction, the elastic junction member can be relieved of torsional forces. several examples of execution of the invention are shown

shown in the illustrations.
In figure 1, 1t shaft is designated with 1, the turbine disc with 2 and with 3 the intermediate member connecting the shaft with the disc.
This latter member is according to the invention not machined either from the disc 2 and neither from the manufacture limais shaft for itself and alloyed in 4 with the disc 2 by means of a weld.
The alliance with ltarbre 1 is effected by a bayonet-style firm 5 5, the application pressure of which is carried out by a 6.
In the execution example of fig. 2, a kinematic bending aorta is adopted as much as the screwing 7 is between the disc and the elastic sealing member, while the welding alliance 4 performs the connection with the tree
The example in fig. 3 shows the use of a seal 9 instead of welding or screwing
Fig. 4 shows the case in which by the elastic packing member 3 a large torque should be transmitted4
The connection between the shaft 1 and the disc 2 is effected by means of the screw connection 10 and the screw connection 12, on the other hand comes the torque taken by means of pawls 13 between the disc and the shaft.
Summary.
1.Elastic junction member between disc and shaft or between parts of disc, which is not made in one piece with the parts to alloy, but made separately from these parts and alloyed with the same parts, characterized in that 'at least me of these two connections is a screw connection.
