<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
Le réservoir suivant l'invention pourra être également du type ouvert aussi bien que du type fermé et 1'on pourra utiliser avec ces deux types de réservoirs le même système de décharge qui comporte, en combinaison avec le poussoir 10, un orifice 8 de décharge pour permettre de supprimer l'excès de pros sion à l'intérieur de la cavité 6 du réservoir 5 quand on appuie sur le bouton 15 pour provoquer la décharge;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Cistern for sanitary basins and other similar applications".
The present invention relates to a new cistern provided with a shutter constituted by a free sphere, and intended more particularly for cleaning sanitary bowls and other similar articles, by means of a flushing device.
It is known that the devices which are used for this purpose have many shortcomings, among others, of having a complicated mechanism, of deteriorating easily, of being excessively noisy, of requiring a lot of water for each use and, therefore, to be very expensive.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
To avoid these various drawbacks and others which are not indicated, the device according to the invention, which will advantageously replace the devices existing to date, is particularly remarkable in that it comprises a closure by means of 'a sphere 1, completely free, which closes the orifice 2 of the discharge channel 3 through which the flushing water column is driven and in that an external bypass channel 4, in communication with the aforementioned channel 3, allows the supply of supply air necessary for proper operation.
We know that we have already used for similar purposes a cistern provided with a closure by means of a sphere connected to a chain, which sphere can be lifted and moved away from the orifice of the channel. evacuation to cause the emptying of the tank.
. This sphere has the disadvantage that when it floats in the tank, attached by a chain, the latter can wrap around the float arm of the inlet valve and prevent its normal operation.
Another drawback is that the continual use of the same sphere causes its wear on the lower one, which ends up blocking it defectively and letting the water escape through the discharge channel.
This is the reason why, according to the present invention, an obturation by means of a completely free sphere is used, which cannot therefore @
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
not wrap around the arm of the inlet valve, and which does not wear out on a given hemisphere either, since it is completely free and can seal port 2 with any side of the valve. that it is not held up by chains or other similar means.
By way of example, and with a view to showing an embodiment of the present invention and one of the means of implementing it, there is attached a drawing board on which the like parts are indicated by the same reference numbers on the figures. different figures, the new parts being shown in strong lines and the known parts in thin lines.
Figure 1 shows a cistern with a free sphere, seen in vertical section through a plane passing through the axis of the discharge channel 3 and the supply channel 7.
Figure 2 shows the same tank, seen in vortical section along a plane passing through the axis of the evacuation 3 and suction channels 4. We can distinguish in this fiure other less important characteristics such as the arrangement of the outlet of the discharge channel 3 which is immediately vertical, which eliminates the curves and other sinuosities characteristic of the discharge channels which are currently used and which cause a pressure drop at the start of the water column, during its descent through the channel 9.
Figure 3 shows a detail of the mechanism
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the discharge valve with the control button 15 acting on the pusher 10 which ectrically pushes the sphere 1 away from the seat 2 of the discharge valve. It can be seen in this figure that the pusher 10, before lifting the sphere 1, clears the passage 8 so that the water contained in the interior 6 of the reservoir 5, in the case of a tank of the hermetic type, can already escape through said orifice without there being an excess of pressure.
The main components which constitute the cistern according to the invention are the following t
The free sphere 1 which is preferably made of rubber, and of lower density than water; it is intended to close the orifice 2 of the discharge channel 3 but communicates with the discharge channel 9.
4 is a channel which extends outwards and one end of which is directed towards the upper part of the reservoir 5 and the other end of which is in communication with the discharge channel 3. This channel serves to hold the sphere 1 on the orifice 2 and to close it by maintaining it on said orifice by suction without interrupting the air supply in the channel 3 so that the water column descends normally, without causing unpleasant noises, because the liquid stream formed by the water column has no interruption during the emptying operation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
5 is the reservoir or container with its cover. It forms a cavity 6 in which accumulates the water coming from the channel 7 with its inlet orifice and its valve 8 provided with any type of float.
This reservoir may have the most suitable shape, its bottom may include converging slopes towards the orifice 2 which communicates with the channel 3 of the tubing 9 and the channel 9.
The channel 3 will preferably be rectilinear, or it will comprise a curve starting from the reservoir 5 and will continue vertically until 9 "to finally join, by a suitable connection, the sanitary basin 16, or other similar article, in a manner thus preventing the loss of speed of the flushing water column.
This reservoir 5 is preferably made of cast iron or comes in one piece with its extension 9, or else it comprises at its lower part a threaded part to which can be fixed, by means of the thread 9 ', the tubular extension 9 with the mechanism of the discharge valve.
The tank according to the invention can also be of the open type as well as of the closed type and the same discharge system can be used with these two types of tanks which comprises, in combination with the pusher 10, a discharge orifice 8. to make it possible to remove the excess of pros sion inside the cavity 6 of the reservoir 5 when the button 15 is pressed to cause the discharge;
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
this facilitates the lifting of the sphere 1 which closes the orifice 2 by removing excess pressure on the latter.
Inside the channel 3 of the extension 9 is arranged an appropriate pusher 10 of any kind which can be directed towards the center of the sphere 1 or on its periphery so as to push said sphere and move it away from the orifice 2. when causing the discharge of the water contained in the tank 6.
The pusher 10 will preferably be constituted by a rod with an axial displacement guided by a support 12, and it will be controlled by an eccentric 13 which pivots on an axis 13 'under the action of a rod 14 with a control button. command 15, but, as has been said, any other type of push-button can be used.
16 is the sanitary basin or any other article intended to receive the water discharge.
It is quite obvious that, without departing from the object of the present inention, it is possible to use other members which will be more suitable and to introduce modifications of detail, provided that the essential characteristics of the present invention are retained.
