<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig.l une coupe verticale du mécanisme.
@
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
22 teur a.

Improvement in reduction gears.
The present invention relates to speed reduction gears or type in which an eccentric fixed to a motor shaft (or to a similar element) carries, freely mounted on, him, an outer toothed wheel which meshes with a toothed wheel lower fixed to a controlled shaft, and located on the same center line as the motor shaft; spaced stationary knobs engaging with holes drilled in the outer tooth wheel so that when the drive shaft rotates the outer tooth wheel gyrates and turns the inner tooth wheel and tree ordered.
The object of the invention is to provide a gear of the above-mentioned type in which the forces on the inner toothed wheel are equally distributed and in which the load
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the gear teeth is relatively small.
This gear is characterized by the use of several eccentrics which are suitably mounted on the motor shaft (or the like), an outer toothed wheel freely mounted on each eccentric, and a single inner toothed wheel with which all Outer toothed wheels are in gear and in a balanced condition.
An exemplary embodiment of this type of gear is shown in the accompanying drawing which indicates:. Fig.l a vertical section of the mechanism.
Fig. 2, a section along line A.A of figure 1.
On a motor shaft a carried in a bracket b, are mounted, and diametrically opposed, eccentrics c, d fixed by means of keys e, e1.
On the eccentric c is freely mounted a toothed wheel f, and on the eccentric d is also freely mounted a toothed wheel; these two wheels f and, the teeth of which are external, mesh with the diametrically opposed teeth of a wheel h with internal teeth, which is wide enough to receive one and the other of the wheels f, g.
The wheel h with internal teeth is fixed to a plate by means of bolts k; this plate has a bulge j1 which is fixed by a key e to a controlled shaft 1 located on the same central line as the motor shaft. A console m carries the ordered tree 1.
The console b has four round knobs n located on diameters perpendicular to each other. In each of the outer toothed wheels f, g are drilled four respective circular holes c, c1 which receive the buttons n and are of a larger diameter than these buttons, depending on the difference between the diameters of the toothed wheel h internal and f, g wheels with external teeth. The aforementioned buttons being fixed, resist the rotational movement of the wheels f, g but allow their gyratory movement.
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The entire gear mechanism is in a sealed p oil bath; the eccentrics c, d and the knobs are lubricated using grease channels g.
The operation takes place as follows:
The motor shaft a rotates by the effect of any motor means, at the desired speed; the eccentrics c, d which it rotates, cause the wheels with external teeth f, g to rotate around the fixed resistance buttons n. This gyratory movement of the wheels f, g determines the rotation of the wheel h with internal teeth, so that the controlled shaft 1 rotates in the same direction as the drive shaft, but at a lower speed.
It should be noted that, due to the use of a pair of wheels f, g with external teeth, and their engagement, under the described balancing conditions, with the internal toothed wheel which is common to them, the load or torque forces on the latter wheel are uniformly distributed and the load per tooth is relatively low.
The practical advantages of the structure and arrangement described are as follows:
1- The gear mechanism takes up little space with regard to the force that can be transmitted.
2- The uniform distribution of the forces on the internal toothed wheel ensures good transmission conditions.
3- As the gears are constantly in equilibrium, there are no peri odic vibrations.
4- The relatively low load on each tooth results in a significant reduction in tooth chipping.
In the example shown in the drawing, the inner tooth wheel h has 44 teeth, and the outer tooth wheels f, g each have 42 teeth; consequently, the eccentrics c, d (thus also the motor shaft '!) will make twenty-two turns for each revolution of the shaft 1 ordered. In other words, @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the angular movement of the inner tooth wheel h is 360-16.36 degrees for each full revolution of the mo-
22 tor a.
If the number of teeth of the respective wheels varies, the reduction ratio will also vary. For example, if the outer toothed wheels have 40 teeth and the inner toothed wheel has 44 teeth, the reduction ratio will be 11, to 1.
It will be noted that the wheels with external teeth f, g have a gyratory movement, and that the wheel h with internal teeth rotates around a common center which is that of the two shafts, the motor shaft and the driven shaft.
It is understood that the applications of the invention are not restricted to the precise observation of the embodiment described, since various modifications can be made to this shape as required, without this constituting a departure from the spirit. and the purpose of the invention.
For example, it is possible to increase the number of eccentrics and of the externally toothed wheels to which they impart a gyratory movement, the internally toothed wheel naturally having the width necessary to contain the revolving wheels which are equally spaced with respect to the internally toothed one. , so as to maintain balance. The number of fixed resistance knobs n and the number of corresponding holes made in the spinning wheels can also be varied.
