<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The present invention relates to a display device in which a support carrying several posters scrolls under the control of a mechanism so as to successively present each of the posters in a viewing area.
In known display devices, the poster support is moved in the vertical direction so as to successively display each poster in a static position.
However, it would be interesting to scroll the posters in the horizontal direction, which would scroll through the posters in the direction of the passersby and in the direction of movement of traffic. The presentation of mobile posters has the advantage of better catching the attention of the passer-by and having a greater impact on the public. Horizontal scrolling also has the advantage of allowing a shorter displacement than in the vertical direction. Finally, the presentation of mobile posters allows a better exploitation of the sites best exposed and therefore the most sought after by advertisers.
On the other hand, in a scrolling display device it is important that the scroll speed is constant and it is furthermore essential that the poster carrier is at all times under constant tension. Indeed, a variation of the voltage exercised on the madness inevitably leads to movements of the poster on the support, which can lead to a detachment of one or more posters, or even a tear of poster, a fatigue of the paper, the destruction of the ink of poster printing, etc.
As a poster and poster support section wraps around a roll, the actual winding diameter around which the poster stand is wrapped increases. Conversely, as a poster support section unrolls from a roll, the actual unwind diameter from which the poster stand unfolds decreases. This continuous variation in the effective diameter of each roll during a scrolling session produces a continuous variation in the effective rotational speed of the winding perimeter or unwinding of the poster support on the rollers.
To maintain a constant tension and a scrolling speed
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Therefore, it is important to take into account these variations in the effective winding diameter, on the one hand, and the effective unwinding diameter, on the other hand, to control the rotation of the winding and unwinding rollers.
The invention solves this problem by means of scroll control device of the integrated poster holder with the control of the drive of the reel and unwinding rollers. A scrolling display device according to the invention comprises a poster support ribbon stretched between a first roll and a second roll so as to be able to unwind from a first roll and wrap around the second roll by scrolling past a viewing area, and vice versa, and a display stand scroll control device which comprises a mechanical transmission cable driven by a drive pulley to wind around a first pulley and unwind from a second pulley, and vice versa, the aforementioned first and second pulleys being mounted to drive the first and second rolls in rotation.
In one embodiment, the mechanical transmission cable is tensioned between a first pulley mounted on the axis of the first roller and a second pulley mounted on the axis of the second roller so as to wind around a first of said pulleys. and unrolling from the second pulley, and vice versa, during each rotation of the first and second rollers, each of said first and second pulleys having a peripheral surface oblique to the direction of the axis of the pulley.
The angle of obliquity of the peripheral surface of the aforementioned pulleys is chosen so that the variation of the winding perimeter of the transmission cable on each of the pulleys is proportional to the variation of the effective diameter of the corresponding roller, that is to say ie, proportional to the length of the poster stand rolled up on the roll and to the thickness of the posters rolled up with the stand on the roll concerned.
During the rotation of the pulleys, the winding perimeter of the transmission cable is always proportional to the winding diameter or actual unwinding of the corresponding roller, that is to say to the length of the poster carrier actually wound around the concerned roll. This ensures a constant speed of scrolling poster support under constant tension.

Other features and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description, accompanied by drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view, broken away, of the internal mechanism of an exemplary display device according to the invention; Fig.2 is an enlarged view of an example of a fastening device for fixing a poster on its support; Fig.3 is a plan view of the scroll control system integrated in the display device shown in Fig.1; Fig.4 shows schematically the state of the scroll control system at the beginning of a scroll session of the poster carrier and the corresponding winding state of the poster carrier on the unwinding and winding rollers;
Fig. 5 schematically shows the state of the scroll control system at an intermediate stage during the scrolling of the poster holder and the corresponding winding state of the poster holder on the unwinding and winding rollers; Fig.6 schematically shows the state of the scroll control system at the end of a scrolling session of the poster carrier and the corresponding winding state of the poster carrier on the unwinding and winding rollers.
In the display shown as an example in FIG. 1, the posters are fixed on a support 100 which will be called in the following madness. This may be made of any material, for example a polyester film. The posters 110 are for example asked on the madness using double-sided stickers. The positioning of each poster is maintained by the static electricity between the madness and the poster. The lateral edges of the posters are for example maintained by longitudinal tabs 20.
Fig. 2 represents, on an enlarged scale, a section in a tab 20 holding the adjacent edges of two adjacent posters 110 which are positioned on the madness 100 by means of stickers 111. The holding tab 20 is attached to the madness via An adhesive tape 21. The madness 100 is fixed at each of its two vertical ends on a roller arranged vertically in a frame.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In FIG. 1, the madness 100 is wrapped around a first roll 11 and, when the device is running, the madness rolls from the roll 11in the direction of the arrow A and wraps around the second roll 12. When the entire madness is wrapped around the second roll 12, the direction of scrolling is reversed and so on. Each roll alternately plays the role of reel and reel roller.
While scrolling, the madness presents the posters she wears in a viewing area where each poster can be exposed for a predetermined period of time. The device can be provided for a double-sided display.
During scrolling madness 100, the winding diameter on each roll varies depending on the length of ribbon wound with the posters on the roller considered. In order to ensure a running speed and a constant tension of the ribbon 100, the speed of rotation of each of the rollers 11 and 12 must be checked during each run of the ribbon 100. This check is carried out by the control device of the ribbon 100. scrolling, better visible in Figure 3, so as to ensure that the rotational speed of each roller is at all times proportional to the effective winding perimeter on the roller considered.
The scroll control device is based on a direct mechanical connection between the first roller 11 and the second roller 12. In the embodiment shown by way of example in the drawings, the mechanical connection is made by a mechanical transmission cable. Which, when driven by a driving pulley 18, drives pulleys 13 and 14 integral with the axes of the rollers 11 and 12. The pulley 13 is mounted on the axis of the roller 11 and the pulley 14 is mounted on the roller axis 12. The pulleys 13 and 14 are for example grooved pulleys. The rotation of the rollers is effected by means of the transmission cable 15 driven by the driving pulley 18. This is coupled to a motor member, for example a geared motor 19 controlled by a frequency converter.
The direct drive of the driving pulley 18 makes it possible to communicate to the transmission cable 15 a constant running speed.
During the rotation of the pulleys 13 and 14, the transmission cable 15, guided by the grooves of the pulleys, moves on the lateral surface of the pulleys as illustrated schematically in FIGS. 4 to 6 which show three positions of the transmission cable 15 and the corresponding winding state of the madness 100 on the rollers 11 and 12 during a scrolling session. In the example shown, the roll 11
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
plays the role of unwinding roll while the roller 12 acts as a winding roller during the scrolling session described.
More particularly, FIG. 4 shows, at the top, the position of the transmission cable 15 at the beginning of the madness scrolling session 100 when it is fully wound on the unwinding roll 11 and, at the bottom, the corresponding winding state of craziness 100 on rollers 11 and 12. FIG. 5 shows, at the top, the position of the transmission cable 15 at an intermediate stage during the madness scrolling session and, at the bottom, the corresponding winding state of the madness 100 on the rollers 11 and 12. Fig. 6 shows, at the top, the position of the transmission cable 15 at the end of the madness scrolling session when the latter is completely wound on the roll-up roll 12 and, at the bottom, the corresponding winding state of craziness 100 on rolls 11 and 12.
Due to the inclination of the lateral surface of the pulleys 13 and 14 coupled to the unwinding and winding rollers, the winding perimeter of the cable 15 varies as a function of the position of the cable on the lateral surface of each pulley. The variation of the winding perimeter of the transmission cable 15 on each of the pulleys 13 and 14 is proportional to the effective thickness variation of the corresponding roller, that is to say each time proportional to the length of madness rolled up on the roller concerned. and the number of posters thus wound up with madness on the roll concerned.
Any reduction in the number of posters wound on a roll is thus compensated by an increase in the winding circumference of the cable 15 on the corresponding conical pulley and vice versa, and the number of winding turns of the cable 15 on each pulley is equal to number of winding turns of madness on the corresponding roller. This arrangement ensures a constant speed of scrolling madness and posters it carries.
During the course of the madness, the tension on the cable 15 is kept constant by a diverting pulley 16 mounted on the frame. Advantageously, the diverting pulley is mounted so as to be integral with an elastic compensation device arranged so as to take back all the variations of thickness which appear on each roll during the scrolling of the madness and the posters which she wears. These variations in thickness depend on the number of posters wrapped with madness on each of the rollers, the irregularities of the winding diameter on each roll due to the presence of the fasteners fixing the posters on the madness, and any other variation or irregularity. possible.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
In the embodiment illustrated by way of example, the elastic compensation device consists of a gas cylinder 17 on whose head is fixed the diverting pulley 16. It is understood that the cylinder can be replaced by any other device or equivalent arrangement mounted to perform the same function during the scrolling madness and posters.
A particular advantage of the device according to the invention is that the scroll speed can be constant from the first to the last poster fixed on the madness. When the number of posters is greater than two, it is possible to obtain an equal display time and an equal display sequence for all posters by providing the same poster at both ends of the series.
In order to avoid exaggerated temperatures of the posters during prolonged exposure to the sun, the device according to the invention may be provided with a forced ventilation system.
In order to avoid the disadvantages due to frost, humidity, etc., the device can also be provided with an internal heating system.
It is understood that the embodiment described in the foregoing and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by way of example is capable of various variations within the skill of the skilled person. In addition, it goes without saying that the device according to the invention can be integrated in any dressing and in various street furniture.
