Device for guiding and / or distributing a material flow and installations equipped with it.
This invention relates to a device for guiding and / or distributing a material flow, as well as installations equipped with it.
The object of the invention consists in a device which allows to optimally separate part or all of the material from a material flow, whereby all material will automatically flow through when there is no longer any need for further separation.
The invention is primarily intended for liquids, but it is not excluded that they can also be used for solid products, for example for granules, powders and the like.
In order to achieve the aforementioned object, the invention consists in a device characterized in that it is mainly formed of a body with a continuous channelization; collection means arranged in the continuous channelization; and at least one branch co-operating with the collecting means.
When material is passed through the through-ducting, it is wholly or completely led via the collecting means to the branch. When a material is saturated at the branch, in other words when material accumulates therein, it continues in a different way without congestion. It is clear that the device hereby allows to very efficiently separate a product from a material flow in function of the need for this product.
In the most preferred embodiment, the device will be completely static, so that, due to the absence of moving parts, it is very stable and reliable and can moreover be manufactured at a low cost.
The invention also relates to installations using the aforementioned device. In a special embodiment it concerns an installation for collecting material, characterized in that it consists of a pipe through which material to be collected is passed; an establishment, as mentioned above, which is incorporated in the pipeline with its continuous ducting; and a container connected to the aforementioned branch. This installation makes it possible to very efficiently separate and collect material from a stream.
According to an important application, which can be commercialized on a large scale, the whole is conceived as an installation for collecting rainwater, the aforementioned device being formed by an element that can be easily mounted in a rain gutter of a gutter and in which the aforementioned container consists of a rain barrel.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, some preferred embodiments are described below as examples without any limitation, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows in perspective a device according to the invention; figure 2 is a larger-scale section according to line II-II in figure 1; figure 3 represents a view according to arrow F3 in figure 2; figure 4 schematically represents an installation using the device of figure 1.
As shown in Figures 1 and 3, the invention consists in a device 1 for guiding and / or distributing a material flow 2. This device 1 is composed of a body 3 with a continuous channel 4; receiving means 5 arranged in the continuous channel 4; and at least one branch 6 cooperating with the collecting means 5, through which at least a part of the material, indicated by arrow 7, can be discharged from the material flow 2.
The body 3 preferably consists essentially of a tube part. In the example shown this has a round cross-section, but it is clear that pipe parts with a different cross-section can also be used.
The body 3, in particular the aforementioned pipe section, can be provided with coupling ends 8 and 9. As shown in figures 1 to 3, these can be coupling ends 8 and 9, which allow the body 3 to be mounted between pipes with the same nominal diameter as the body 3 itself. The coupling end 8, which is located at the entrance of the continuous channel 4, preferably consists of a widened seat, so that a supply tube with its end can be slid into it. The coupling end 9, which is located at the outlet of the channel 4, preferably consists of a narrowed seat with which the body 3 can be slid into a connecting tube.
The collecting means 5 mainly consist of a basin-shaped or bowl-shaped construction 10 arranged in the channel 4, which is open at the top and to which the aforementioned branch 6 connects at the bottom and / or laterally. The construction 10 is preferably formed by an oblique wall 11 which is arranged in the body 3 and which extends over a part of the passage of the body 3. The wall 11 hereby has a free top edge
12 and a side edge 13 which adjoins the inner wall of the body 3.
The collecting means 5 may additionally comprise a guide which guides the material from the material flow 2 to the basin-shaped construction 10. In the example shown, this guide also consists of a wall 14, which is higher than the wall 11, which only leaves a passage 15 which is located above the basin-shaped construction 10, so that the material of the material flow 2 is initially up to the pelvic structure 10 is forced.
The wall 14 is preferably inclined according to the flow direction. It has a free bottom edge 16 and a side edge 17 which adjoins the inner wall of the tubular body 3.
The walls 11 and 14 are preferably flat, so that the construction remains simple.
In the normal position of use, the wall 14, in vertical projection, extends to the wall 11 or overlaps it, for example, by a distance D.
The walls 11 and 14 each extend approximately to half the transverse direction of the body 3.
The passage that exists between the top edge 12 and the bottom edge 16 is preferably larger or equal to the passage of the passage 15.
As shown in the figures, the device 1 is preferably designed such that the pipe part is upright in the normal position of use. The branch 6 extends horizontally. The diameter of the branch 6 is preferably considerably smaller than the diameter of the tubular body 3.
The device 1 is preferably completely static, although the invention does not exclude it from having moving parts, such as, for example, walls 11 and 14 which are adjustable at an angle to obtain different results.
The device 1 is preferably one-piece, and preferably consists of plastic, for example PVC.
The operation and use is mainly as follows. If material, for example a liquid, is passed through the channel 4, this material initially enters the basin-shaped construction 10 and is discharged via the branch 6. When the branch 6 has no further need for material, because the material can no longer flow away along it, the basin-shaped construction 10 fills up to the top edge 12, after which further supplied material overflows over the top edge 12 and is discharged via the channel 4, more specifically according to arrow 18 in figure 2.
As mentioned in the introduction, the invention also relates to installations using the aforementioned device 1. In a special embodiment, an example of which is shown in figure 4, it concerns an installation 19 for collecting material, in this case liquid, more especially rainwater, characterized in that it consists of a pipe 20 through which material to be collected is passed lined; a device 1, as mentioned above, which is incorporated in the conduit 20 with its continuous channel 4; and a receptacle 21 which is connected to the aforementioned branch 6.
In the installation of figure 4, the pipe 20 consists of a rain drainage pipe from a gutter 22 and the receptacle 21 from a rain barrel.
The top edge 23 of the receptacle 21 is higher than the overflow level H of the device 1, in other words the level of the top edge 12.
The rainwater that flows through the pipe 12 is intercepted in the device 1 and is led via the branch 6 to the receptacle 21 until the level has reached level H, after which further water supplied to the collecting means 5 overflows and is discharged via the continuous channel 4 .
A special application consists in that a cooling circuit 24 for cooling the roof 25 is connected to the receptacle. The cooling circuit herein comprises a pump 26 for pumping up the usually cool water, as well as a spray element 27 or the like for draining the water over the roof 25. It is clear that in this way a closed circuit can be obtained, the only loss being water evaporating. This cooling circuit is especially useful for greenhouses.
It is clear that the device can be used in many applications. Other examples are maintaining a pond by means of rainwater, absorbing peaks at water treatment plants by diverting the surplus of water that cannot be processed immediately, and so on.
The present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described as examples and shown in the figures, but such apparatus for guiding and / or distributing a material flow and installations equipped therewith can be realized in different shapes and sizes without being outside the frame of the invention.
