<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Bicycle frame with overhanging stirrups.
The invention relates to a bicycle frame with rear fork reinforcements, rear fork tube and, at the converging end of the latter, the projecting stirrup.
Usually, a bicycle frame consists of a handlebar axle tube with upper and lower handlebar sleeves, an upper frame tube and a lower frame tube connecting the axle shaft sleeves. handlebar to the seat pivot sleeve and the bottom hub housing, as well as two rear fork stiffeners and two rear fork tubes extending respectively from the seat pivot sleeve and the bottom hub housing to join the overflowing stirrup. The protruding stirrup has a recess for receiving the axis of the rear wheel, an arrangement in which for touring bikes the protruding stirrup generally has a recess for the hub open rather towards the rear, while for sports and racing bikes the receiving cutout is rather open towards the front.
While a receiving cutout of the overhanging open caliper rather towards the rear allows with a small effort to fix precisely and without the possibility of displacement the position of the wheel and the chain tension, the receiving cutout of the he overhanging stirrup open towards the front has the advantage of allowing faster mounting and dismounting of the wheel.
Basically, for known bicycle frames, the protruding stirrup rests almost on the axis of the wheel so that, when loading the wheel, considerable bending forces are exerted on the protruding stirrup and thereby on the axis of the wheel through the roughly horizontal rear fork tubes. This can be disadvantageous since, in particular for mountain bikes and mountain bikes, there is an increased danger of breaking with regard to the rear fork tubes. The force regime applying to the rear fork tubes and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
rear fork reinforcements is generally unfavorable.
The invention remedies this.
Consequently, the object of the invention is to produce a bicycle frame of this type, in which the bending stresses generated in particular in the rear fork tubes during the appropriate use of the bicycle are reduced, and which makes it possible to improve the regime of application of the forces exerted on the overhanging stirrup and by means of the overhanging stirrup on the wheel axle.
To achieve this object, the invention proposes that the protruding stirrup has above the cutout for receiving the axis of the wheel an extension to which the ends of the rear fork reinforcement and the rear fork tube are attached.
Because the connection, for example welding, of the rear fork support and the rear fork tube to the protruding stirrup takes place in a position located above the receiving cutout of the wheel axle, we realize that the overhanging stirrup is located practically on the axis of the wheel arranged in the receiving recess of the wheel, so that here the forces exerted can be directed from top to bottom in the overhanging stirrup and in the wheel axle located at the lower end of the overhanging stirrup. The disadvantages presented by the current state of the art are thus greatly reduced and the stability of the framework generally improved.
Preferably, it is further provided that in the stirrup extending beyond the receiving cutout of the wheel axle is
EMI2.1
realis'ture directed towards carried out with its opening directed towards the housing of the bottom bracket and oblique with respect to the horizontal of the frame since the connection of the reinforcement of rear fork and the tube of rear fork.
Preferably, the angle of inclination relative to the horizontal is greater than 30.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the angle
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
tilt is less than 90.
The term "horizontal frame" means the plane extending between the axes of the front wheel and the rear wheel of said bike. For the compensation of the chain tension and the alignment of the wheel, an arrangement inclined obliquely towards the front of the receiving cutout of the wheel axle is preferred here.
With a view to further strengthening and improving the system of application of forces via the overhanging stirrup, it is provided that the rear fork reinforcement is oriented along a straight line connecting the overhanging stirrup to the pivot sleeve of the frame seat and that it is connected to this sleeve, that the rear fork tube extends in a straight line between the protruding stirrup and the seat tube and is attached to the latter in the area between the housing of the bottom bracket and the seat pivot sleeve, and the rear fork tube is arranged in near coaxial alignment with the bottom tube of the frame disposed between the seat tube and the handlebar axle tube.
In this arrangement it is conceivable that the lower tube of the frame is extended into two tubes forming the two rear fork tubes, or that the two rear fork tubes are attached to the seat tube, and in particular are welded to it, and that the lower tube of the frame formed by a tube extends in the direction of the handlebar axis from the position of this assembly. There must therefore not be an exactly coaxial arrangement of the lower tube of the frame and the rear fork tube, but only an almost coaxial arrangement, in a way mutual convergence.
With a view to further strengthening and improving the system of application of the forces, in particular of the force transmitted via the bottom bracket, when using such a bicycle, it will preferably be proposed that the lower tube of the frame is connected to the housing of the bottom bracket by means of a tube
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
reinforcement attached to it between the seat tube and the tube of the handlebar axis, the point of attachment of the reinforcement tube to the lower tube of the frame being preferably disposed near the seat tube, at a distance from the tube saddle located about a third of the length of the lower tube of the frame.
In addition, provision will preferably be made for the stirrups projecting from the frame to deviate slightly from one another at a small angle, so that at least near the cutout for receiving the axis of the wheel, the two projecting stirrups extend parallel to each other.
For additional reinforcement, it is planned to connect the rear fork reinforcement to the rear fork tube via a frame reinforcement fixed to the rear fork reinforcement and to the rear fork tube at a distance from the protruding stirrup and seat tube.
Provision is preferably made to make the frame reinforcement in the form of an arc having a contour following at least approximately the circumference of the rim of the wheel taken up by the projecting stirrup.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is described in more detail below. In the drawing: fig. 1 illustrates, seen in plan, a bicycle equipped according to the invention; fig. 2 and 3 illustrate the right overhanging stirrup in two different views; fig. 4 and 5 illustrate the left projecting stirrup, also in two different views.
Among other constituent parts, the bicycle frame of the bicycle illustrated in FIG. 1 has reinforcements 1 for the rear fork and tubes 2 for the rear fork, at the parallel ends of which the projecting stirrups 3 are fixed, and more specifically welded. The overhanging stirrup 3 has, above the cutout 4 for receiving the axis of the wheel, an extension 5, at which
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the ends of the reinforcement 1 of the rear fork and of the tube 2 of the rear fork are welded.
The cutout 4 for receiving the axis of the wheel on the overhanging stirrup 3 is, by way of example, carried out with its opening turned towards the housing of the bottom bracket hub 6 of the frame and inclined rather downwards by relative to the horizontal of the frame, starting from the connection of the reinforcement 1 of the rear fork and the tube 2 of the rear fork. The angle of inclination from the horizontal is greater than 30 and less than 90. The reinforcement 1 of the rear fork is oriented along a straight line connecting the protruding stirrup 3 to the sleeve 7 of the seat saddle pivot, and is connected to this sleeve.
The rear fork tube 2 likewise extends in a straight line, but starting from the protruding stirrup 3 towards the seat tube 8, and is attached to the latter in an area located between the housing 6 of the bottom bracket hub and the seat pivot sleeve 7. The rear fork tube 2 extends for the rest almost coaxially in the extension of the lower tube 10 of the frame disposed between the seat tube 8 and the tube 9 of the handlebar axis. The point of attachment to the seat tube 8 is also disposed at the same height and the angles of inclination of the lower tube 10 of the frame and of the tube 2 of the rear fork with the horizontal and the vertical are equal.
The lower tube 10 of the frame is connected to the housing 6 of the bottom bracket hub by means of the reinforcement tube 11 fixed to the lower tube 10 of the frame between the seat tube 8 and the tube 9 of the handlebar axis; the point of attachment of the reinforcement tube 11 to the lower tube 10 of the frame is located in an area of the lower tube 10 of the frame close to the seat tube 8, and is disposed about one third of the length of the tube of the frame counted from the seat tube 8.
As shown in particular in FIGS. 3 and 5, the protruding stirrups 3 of the frame converge towards each other at a small angle, the two protruding stirrups 3 extending parallel to each other at least at
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
proximity of the cutouts 4 for receiving the axis of the wheel.
The folding is carried out at an angle of about 70 relative to the plane formed by the reinforcement 1 of the rear fork and the tube 2 of the rear fork. In addition, the rear fork reinforcement 1 is connected to the rear fork tube 2 by means of a frame reinforcement 12, which is fixed to the rear fork reinforcement 1 and to the rear fork tube 2 at a distance from the stirrup overhanging 3 and seat tube 8. The frame reinforcement 12 is made in the shape of an arc and follows, at least approximately, preferably precisely, the circumference of the rim of the wheel 13 taken up by the overhanging stirrup 3, and in particular follows the tire mounted on the rim , so that the reinforcement 12 hides the tire in lateral view, possibly including the rim.
The invention is not limited to these exemplary embodiments, and has, within the framework of its disclosure, numerous variants.
All the individual characteristics and combinations of characteristics presenting a novelty character, in the descriptive part and / or in the illustration are considered to be an integral part of the invention.
