<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

EMI1.1
20 25 30 "Unloading device".
The present invention relates to an unloading device for unloading bulk material from a silo.
EMI1.2
The term "silo" as used throughout this description is given for the purpose of understanding boxes, hoppers and any other storage structure for bulk materials, such as grain, fodder, etc.
According to the invention, there is provided an apparatus for unloading bulk material intended to be mounted at the location of an unloading opening arranged centrally in a base part of a silo, comprising a support for rotationally controlled support incorporating a unloading duct communicating with the outlet of the silo and a radially arranged spinning tendon mounted on the casing for distribution to the unloading duct, characterized in that there is a cap which rotates independently above 1 ' envelope, extending over it. The cap preferably has a conical shape.
According to one embodiment of the invention, an unloading spin is mounted in the unloading duct to unload the material towards the outlet of the silo. Typically, the pickup tendon and the unloading tendon are mounted on the support casing with their axes of rotation substantially perpendicular.
According to another embodiment, the pickup tendon and the unloading tendril comprise a common control means. The control means preferably comprises a chain control intended to actively connect the unloading gimlet and the pickup gimlet.
According to another embodiment, the support envelope is rotatably mounted on a support frame by means
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of a set forming a turntable. The turntable assembly preferably includes a drive ring rotatably supported on a number of rollers mounted on the support frame with control means for rotating the drive ring.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description below, given by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

Figure 2 is an elevational and sectional view of the unloading apparatus mounted in the silo.
Figure 3 is a plan view of part of the unloading apparatus.
Figure 4 is a detail view, partially in section showing a support showing an outer end of a portion of the swirling spout of the unloading apparatus.
Referring to the drawings, there is illustrated an unloading apparatus according to the invention, shown in a way
EMI2.1
general by the reference numeral 1. In Figures 1 and 2, the unloading device is shown mounted in a silo 2 at the location of a centrally disposed unloading opening 3 in a base part 4 of the silo 2. L the unloading apparatus 1 comprises a support for rotationally controlled support 6 incorporating an unloading conduit 7 communicating with the outlet of the silo 8. A radially arranged pickup girder 9 is mounted on the envelope 6 to bring the material to the unloading 7. Mounted vertically inside the unloading duct 7, there is an unloading spin 11 for unloading the material towards the outlet 8 of the silo.
A conical cap 12 driven in rotation independently is mounted above the casing 6. The casing 6 is fixed to a turntable assembly 13 mounted on a support frame 14 fixed inside the opening unloading 3 of the base part 4 of the silo 2.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The casing 6 has a cylindrical side wall
17 with a conical cover 18 fixed to the latter. At a top of the cover 18, a pivot shaft 19 is rotatably supported in a thrust bearing 20. A bush arranged centrally
21 in the cap 12 engages an upper end of the pivoting shaft 19 for rotatably supporting the cap 12 above the casing 6. It will be noted that the cap 12 extends outwards and downwards above the cover 18 and that an outer peripheral edge 22 of the cap 12 projects downwards around an upper part of the side wall 17 of the casing 6. An inlet opening 23 in the side wall 17 of the envelope 6 gives access to the unloading duct 7, which has the general appearance of a box and which has an outlet 24.
A distribution chute 25 is fixed to the chassis 14 below the outlet 24. An inner end 26 of the pickup girder 9 projects through the inlet opening 23 and is rotatably supported inside the duct of unloading 7. The pickup swivel 9 projects radially outside the casing 6 towards a side wall of the silo 2 and an outer end 27 of the pickup swivel 9 is rotatably supported in a bearing 28 mounted on an arm support 29 fixed to the side wall 17 of the envelope 6 and extending upwards

from it.
A control means for the tendrils 9, 11 is constituted by an electric motor 31 with an associated reduction gearbox mounted below the turntable assembly 13 and actively connected to a lower end 32 of the unloading tendril 11 An upper end 32 of the unloading spin 11 is connected to the right angle gear 34 mounted above the unloading duct 7. A chain drive 35 actively connects the right angle gear 34, a drive shaft 36 being fixed to the inner end 26 of the pick-up swivel 9. It will be noted that the axes of rotation of the pick-up swirl 9 and of the unloading swivel 11 are substantially perpendicular.
The turntable assembly 13 comprises a ring 44 supported by nine pairs of rollers fixed in rotation
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to the support frame 14. Each pair of rollers comprises a lower roller 45 on which rests a lower face 46 of the drive ring 44 and an upper roller 47 which engages an upper face 48 of the drive ring 44. A pinion control 50 engages the drive ring 44 to rotate the drive ring 44 and is controlled by an electric motor (not shown).
In use, to unload the material from the silo 2 with the engine 31 running, the pick-up spin 9 brings
EMI4.1
the material inside, in the direction of arrow A in the figure
2, in the unloading duct 7 of the casing 6 and the unloading spout 11 directs the material down and outside the unloading duct 7 through the chute 25 in a carriage or on a conveyor arranged below the exit from the silo. By actuating the pinion 50, the drive ring 44 and, consequently, the casing 6 can be rotated so that the pickup girder 9 traverses the entire silo 2, thereby allowing at silo 2 to be completely unloaded.
If there is enough material in this silo 2 to cover the unloading device I, the weight of the material will keep the cap 12 in a stationary position while the casing 6 and the pick-up spinner 9 rotate below that -this.
Note that as the cap 12 is not driven by the material when the envelope 6 rotates, less power will be required to rotate the envelope.
It will also be noted that the presence of an unloading tendril inside the unloading duct ensures positive passage of the material all the time.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, which can be modified both in terms of arrangement and details.
