 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Tennis racket, squash racket or similar sport"
The present invention relates to a tennis, squash or similar sport racket essentially comprising a handle and a basket-forming head, the handle being able to be connected directly to the head or by means of two arms.

The object of the invention is to produce a racket, the striking characteristics of which, due in particular to the greater flexibility of the racket, are considerably improved by comparison with tennis or squash rackets or the like.

To achieve this objective, in accordance with the invention, the aforementioned handle, where appropriate the aforementioned arms,
 EMI1.1
has an area of smaller section, the section of the handle, if any of the aforementioned arms, gradually increasing towards the head of the racket.

Still according to the invention, the area of smallest section is located approximately two-thirds of the distance between the end of the handle and the place where the latter connects with the basket head.

In a preferred embodiment, the area of the aforementioned smaller section, measured along a plane normal to the geometric axis of the handle, is approximately 16.5 mm when the section of the head is approximately 25 mm and the section of the handle, ie where appropriate of the aforementioned arms, gradually increasing from the zone of smallest section in the direction of the aforementioned head over a distance between about 90 and 120 mm.

Other details and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which will be given below of a tennis, squash or analog sports racket according to the invention. This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention.

 tion.

Figure 1 is an elevational view of the racket according to the invention.

Figure 2 is a side view of the same racket.

The racket according to the invention is essentially characterized by an area of smaller section which appears in the handle at about, but not exclusively, two thirds of the distance which separates the end of the handle 1 from the area where the handle 'erraccorde a Ia tête 2. This connection can be made if necessary, by means of two arms. In the attached figures, the arms seen laterally are designated by the reference 3 and the zone of smallest section extends in the plane A-A 'or in the immediate vicinity of this plane.

From this zone generally determined by the plane A-A ', the section of the handle or of the arms
 EMI2.1
 - --- - - - - --- 3 gradually increases towards the head 2.

The smaller section Ja, measured along the plane A-N, normal to the geometric axis of the handle of the racket, is approximately 16.5 mm. This section increases in the direction of the head 2 over a distance which can vary between 90 and 120 mm to reach a value located around 25 mm.

In the drawing we note the progressiveness of the increase in section from the handle towards the head. This structure considerably increases the flexibility of the racket which affects the quality of the game. For a constant effort, the acceleration of the ball is greater when using a racket of the type according to the invention only when this is not the case.

It is understood that the dimensions and the relationships between them, as given in the present patent application, may be subject to modifications, but it will also be understood that they are limited by the nature of the materials used for the production. a racket of the type according to the present application.

It is also understood that the invention applies in principle to snowshoes of all types and made of materials of all kinds.
