Description
AUSTRALIA 6 6 10 6 IfafV 2 Patents Act 1990
ORIGINAL
COMPLETE SPECIFIC.'oATION STANDARD PATENT Application Number,- Lodged: Invention Title: SUPPORT AND CENTERING DEVICE *i The following statement is a full description of this invention, Including the best method of performing It known to :-US 111 1 SUPPORT AND CENTERING DEVICE The present invention relates to a support and centering device, with an elastomer element disposed between two parallel plates and connected thereto, for elastic support and resetting of a tie rod of a centre buffer coupling for track-guided land vehicles, whereby on the vehicle side the tie rod is attached to swivel horizontally about a vertical axis and vertically about a horizontal axis in restricted fashion.
In such a support and centering device with an elastomer element known from DE 10 17 201 the pre-stressed elastomer element (rubber body) is supported by its front surfaces between two horizontal plates and borne on a double-armed steering arm. The plates, and thus the elastomer element, are guided height-adjustably in arms articulated in oscillating fashion on the .t steering arm, such that the axis of the elastomer element is adjusted vertically to the coupling top axis when the coupling head moves perpendicularly. With this arrangelvent the centre buffer coupling is elastically supported and is kept horizontal. At the same time horizontal swinging movements of t!.e coupling head and vertical swivelling out for balancing differences in height between two coupling heads to be coupled can be supported without undue stress.
.15 :This arrangement enables support and centering of the tie rod in a vertical direction only.
To facilitate trouble-free coupling of two centre buffer couplings, it is also necessary to i.i: keep the tie rod constantly it the centre position in the centre longitudinal plane during the coupling procedure, that is, to guarantee centre resetting for swivelling out in the horizontal plane.
A large number of resetting systems is known for this purpose, which facilitate adjustment of the centre position in the horizontal plane either hydraulically or by elastic force.
Since track-guided land vehicles have little installation space available on their front sides for centre buffer couplings, it is often difficult and technically expensive to provide a support device and centering device in the available installation space.
The object of the present invention is to create a technically simple device for supporting and centre resetting both in the vertical and in the horizontal plane, which can be used in 2 restricted installation spaces on track-guided land vehicles in compact construction and with minimal height dimensions.
This task is solved by the support device characterized in Claim 1.
Effective developments of the present invention are given in the sub-claims.
An embodiment of the invention will be explained in greater detail hereinbelow with reference to the diagrams.
Figure 1 shows a support and centering device in partial side elevation; Figure 2 shows the support and centering device in a plan view; Figure 3 shows an elastomer element in partial plan view; Figure 4 shows the elastomer element in partial side elevation; Figure 5 shows the elastomer element in front elevation.
A support and centering device 1 according to the present invention has an elastomer 4'14" element 2 disposed between a first plate 3a and a second plate 3b and connected thereto.
Elastomer element 2 is disposed or aligned in the direction of the coupling axis and in the vertical coupling plane, whereby elastomer element 2 is aligned vertically on both front sides of encompassing plates 3a, 3b and in the centre position obliquely to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
*2tr First plate 3a is attached torsionally to a bolt 4 disposed in the vertical swivel axis. Bolt 4 is also the centre axis for a spherical link 9-flexicoil link steel/rubber link-in which tie rod 8 is swivel-mounted horizontally, vertically and also gimbal-mounted. Bolt 4 is connected torsionally to a bearing 6 integral with the vehicle by means of safety rotation latch 5. Second plate 3b disposed closer to the coupling head is attached to tie rod 8 by way of a detachable fastening 7.
Elastomer element 2 is disposed purposefully under tie rod 8, so that tie rod 8 can then be disposed higher. Elastomer element 2 is also considerably relie"ed of tensile stresses.
Elastomer element 2 imust be suitable for resetting the operatively required swivelling out angle in the centre position in the vertical of 60 and in the horizontal of 150 safely and I \t 3 over lengthy periods. The Shore hardness for suitable elastomer elements lies somewhere between to 80 Shore.
Elastomer element 2 is designed to decrease in cross-section from second plate 3b in the direction of first plate 3a and has the shape of a cone frustum or a truncated pyramid.
Furthermore, on its front sides elastomer element 2 may be formed with rectangular or square basal plane. In the case of a rectangular basal plane elastomer element 2 is disposed to advantage with the short sides of the basal planes in the vertical and with the long sides in the horizontal.
