Toggle Latch Quick Release - Floating Skirt Dust Shroud
Field of Invention - Specification
People engaged in surface preparation commonly use dust shrouds on angle grinders to flatten and hone concrete, abrade, sand or remove old coatings from walls and floors for new coatings to bond too, whereby a variety of dust shrouds exist in the marketplace the perform these tasks, however some people skilled in the art of floor coverings placement, prefer dust shrouds that have a floating shroud shirt feature for grinding floors that incorporate a fully enclosed dust skirt with downward movement of between 10 - 20mm on the floor, that better maintains “skirt contact and seal on the floor”, that better minimises asbestos dust and other dangerous particles from escaping and becoming airborne, which escapes as a result of uneven grinder movement, uneven surfaces, or loss of vacuum suction related to use of an open ended dust shroud design, hence the floating dust shroud design provides superior dust extraction capabilities, the few floating shroud designs on the market however either have a poor skirt attachment design that relates to its attachment to the body of the dust shroud, which inhibits effective dust extraction or alternatively uses a weak screw collar attachment that attaches the dust shroud to the angle grinder, whereby the weight of the attached hose, “creates unwanted shroud movement” and the operator needs to constantly stop work to realign the shrouds and place it in the correct working direction to undertake grinding of wall edges, this new dust shroud design therefore solves all of these dust shroud design, movement and skirt attachment problems and therefore represents new useful art and inventive step for a dust shroud, that specifically relates to use of a better attachment means that uses a toggle latch dust shroud design as currently registered in Au 200813882, in combination with a new with path slot mating cylindrical pin, floating dust skirt invention, of various designs, configurations and ordinations, that can incorporate various, shroud and skirt bristle designs, of a weighty plastic, nylon or metal floating skirt design, that is of sufficient weight to keep the skirt on the floor, that may include spring retraction, as shown in the various attached picture representations.
The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which:
