Abstract

Individual Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Cells have evenly spaced gaps between and around all four sides which allows for solar radiation to pass through spaces between individual solar cells through to the Prismatic panel at the back or underside of the solar cells and to then be reflected back up to activate the underside of the solar cells creating the effect of 'Total Internal Reflection'(TIR). Solar radiation is captured within both sides of the polycarbonate/acrylic panels which are on the front and back of the solar cells. The clear prismatic panel at the back of the solar module allows solar radiation to be absorbed through the back surface area of the solar module, presenting a bifacial absorption surface area. Solar radiation is reflected back up from the Prismatic panel on the underside of the solar cell. The Prismatic panel consists of three dimensional pyramid shaped profiles. --- s s s A- ____ I ~ ~. 1

Description

PATENT 2016101822 17 Oct 2016
Invention Title:
Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a new renewable energy 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Module'configured into new products and methods of solar energy capture and generation. Featuring a unique new Photovoltaic Solar Cell design and configuration.
Background of the Invention
Traditional renewable energy is generated by solar panels that are secured on the surface area of rooftops. This presents limitations as follows: 1) Large roof and surface area coverage is required for significant solar energy capture and generation, with associated costs involved. 2) Lack of rooftop access for millions of residential apartment buildings and business offices. 3) Associated high labour cost for professional Solar Panel installation.
The 'Enhanced Solar Cell Modules'provide the same method of photovoltaic solar energy capture and conversion as traditional solar roof panels, however our unique product design and configuration offers enhanced and higher solar energy efficiency, and numerous new residential and commercial applications.
The renewable solar energy that has been captured by the 'Enhanced Solar Cell Modules'will be made available for use by way of either direct current electricity or converted from direct current electricity to alternate current electricity to power business and residential appliances and equipment, such as; computers, printers, TV's, lights, fans, heaters, mobile phones etc. relative to the size of the 'Solar System'installed. l
Object of the Invention 2016101822 17 Oct 2016
The 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'will significantly increase the capability of renewable solar energy capture and utilisation and provide unique new applications and products.
The 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'will therefore also enhance or replace the traditional solar roof panel limitations, including reducing the required surface area coverage, and providing alternative placement options other than on rooftops, as well as significantly reducing the installation and labour costs involved.
The object of the invention is to provide a solution to limited or no roof surface areas on high-rise office buildings, residential apartment blocks to which residents and tenants have no access, as well as providing a supplementary source of electricity for commercial and business offices and factories.
The materials comprising the 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'are light in weight with a very slimline profile allowing for installation on structures that cannot hold conventional solar roof panels which are heavy in weight due to the glass panels that are used.
The invention also provides a plug-in and "plug-and-play" business and residential system that can be purchased, easily and quickly installed and operational.
Our 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'presents new product applications for renewable solar energy capture and generation to help offset and significantly reduce and the high cost of commercial grid electricity.
Summary of the Invention
The invention is herein described as an 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Module'which offers new commercial methods, products and applications of solar energy generation and capture due to its unique configuration and design which efficiently and effectively captures solar energy.
The dimensions (length and width) of the individual 'Solar Cell Modules'can be scaled up or down depending on the required sizes or applications, for residential, business or commercial applications.
The 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'can also be inter-connected for compounded energy production and utilisation. 2
The invention comprises any number of'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'which are configured into commercial shapes for various products and applications such as a 'Solar Blades, Solar Shutters, Solar Panels, Solar Slats, Solar Louvres. 2016101822 17 Oct 2016
The unique design and configuration of our 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Module'are detailed as follows: 1) Capturing solar energy from both sides of the individual solar cells which are covered by a polycarbonate/acrylic front panel 2) Prismatic backing panel made from a polycarbonate/acrylic material. 3) The individual PV Solar Cells have evenly spaced gaps between and around all four sides of each and every individual solar cell which allows for the solar radiation to pass through spaces between the individual solar cells through to the Prismatic panel at the back or underside of the solar cells and to then be reflected back up to activate the underside of the solar cells creating the effect of'Total Internal Reflection' (TIR) 4) The solar radiation therefore passes through the solar cells and is captured within both sides of the polycarbonate/acrylic panels which are on the front and back of the solar cells. The clear prismatic panel at the back of the solar module also allows solar radiation to be absorbed through the back surface area of the solar module, presenting a bifacial absorption surface area. 5) The Solar radiation is reflected back up from the Prismatic panel on the underside of the solar cell. The Prismatic panel consists of three-dimensional pyramid shaped profiles which has the effect of capturing and dispersing the sunlight in a more effective and concentrated manner. 6) This Prismatic shaped material provides an enhanced method of activating the underside of the solar cells and this combined effect is called 'Total Internal Reflection'(TIR) and creates an enhanced higher efficiency solar capture and generation. 7) All four sides of the 'Enhanced PV Solar Cell Modules'are sealed to be both airtight and waterproof. 8) Our design and configuration of materials presents an extremely slimline profile which is also very light in weight with no glass being used, as well as being extremely durable and weatherproof. 9) Our design and configuration allows for the direct attachment to any horizontal roof or vertical wall surface area without the need for the installation of separate supporting framework or rail structures that are currently used for conventional solar roof panels. 3
