Abstract
The flow rate in a waste water channel is optically measured in a channel shaft by producing an image of the channel pipe inlet or outlet as seen from above the shaft or an image of the subsequent cross joints between successive channel pipe sections as seen in the feeder or discharge channel pipe, and by calculating the cross-section of the flow and the amount of flow from the ratio of the opening diameter line (dl) and flow level width (d2) in the image based on known channel measurements and flow channel geometry and the detected or known speed of flow.
