Abstract

An axially deformable yarn carrier tube comprises in its outer surface a plurality of rows of radial, slot-shaped perforations 1 which are arranged next to one another in the circumferential direction and whose longitudinal axes enclose an angle alpha in the range between 20 and 50 DEG with an outer surface line running in the circumferential direction, the perforations overlapping at their ends. The solid outer surface sections 2 between the radial perforations 1 are of web-shaped design and by applying radial pressure to the carrier tube, with deformation in the circumferential and axial direction, can be brought into mutual abutment in the region between the ends of the perforations 1, these ends being left open.
