Abstract

A cavity 16 is formed by repeatedly vibrating an elongate lance member into the ground, withdrawing it, and introducing additional material into the cavity prior to the process being repeated. The additional material is formed by mixing soil and ground amelioration material, particularly a cementitious binder. The cavity 16 will burst outwardly, such as at 38, as additional material is introduced and compacted. The process is repeated until heave 39 is detected in the ground, around the position being treated. <IMAGE>
