Process for the production of anhydrous sodium hydrosulfite.
EMI1.1
In order to remove the water from the water, this is subjected to the most varied processes using the most varied of means, all of which have the original function
EMI1.2
are completely separated in time from it. Thus, the separated hydrosulfurate is by no means subjected to simple dehydration processes with or without the use of inert gases. According to other regulations, it is heated for a long time with alcohol or other dehydrating liquids with constant dehydration of the latter, or it is also treated with concentrated sodium hydroxide solution.
Another method makes it necessary to use salting-out agents by preparing a hydrosulfite solution from which the anhydrous salt is deposited by heating with common salt, or a hydrosulfite solution is first salted out with common salt and then after most of the solution has been poured off the solid hydrosulfite is heated with the addition of common salt.
As can be seen, a common basic idea runs through all processes, namely above all to obtain the hydrosulfite in its usual form, the hydrate water slopes, and then to carry out the anhydration separately from this production.
Given the great sensitivity of hydrosulfite, which is so extremely easily decomposable, appeared
EMI1.3
The underlying line of thought with bypassing the water-of-crystalline hydrosulfite directly in an operation could be anhydrous.
The extensive experiments carried out in this direction led to the desired goal and the present process succeeds in obtaining sodium hydrosulfite in a state of water free of hydration in one operation without the aid of any agent not involved in the preparation reaction.
As is known, a mixture of concentrated solutions of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate and sodium bisulfite separates sodium hydrosulfite containing water of crystallization. It has now

can go on, the sodium hydrosulphite is obtained anyway in anhydrous form.
The simplicity of this representation compared to the known is downright surprising. It has proven to be beneficial to add one of the bodies to be used, preferably bisulfite, in solid form to the concentrated solution of the other body with stirring.

EMI2.1
To make already formed hydrosulfite anhydrous, hydrosulfite is produced directly anhydrous here. The present process is not only simpler, but also significantly more economical than the others.
While most of the hydrosulphite remaining in the alkalis after the end of the operations was lost, by adding the amount of formaldehyde to the mother liquor corresponding to the small amount of hydrosulphite contained in it, it can be protected from decomposition and at the same time the lye used to prepare the one starting material of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate make suitable.
PATENT. EXPECTATIONS :
1. A process for the production of sodium hydrosulphite from sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate and sodium bisulphite, characterized in that the same is obtained in an anhydrous form in one operation without the aid of any agent not involved in the presentation reaction, by working at the highest concentration and in heat.
