Description

Method for fixing tanning agents in leather The subject of patent 685 744 is a method for fixing tanning agents in conventionally pre-tanned leather by treatment with dissolutions of protein breakdown products which have a degree of degradation of about 300,110. The process is characterized in that the leather is treated in the single bath process with a mixture of concentrated solutions of such protein degradation products and concentrated tanning solutions with or without the addition of synthetic tanning agents and wetting agents, such as sulfonated oils and fats, in the acidic pH range.

It has now been found that in the same way, i.e. H. Also in the single bath process, in the acidic range, protein breakdown products, which have a degree of degradation of less than 300/0, but of at least 20%, can be used.

It has already been proposed to fix tannins in leather by mixing pressed leather with solutions of protein cleavage products which have a removal rate of about 300/0, e.g. B. treated in a fulling barrel at ordinary temperature and the leather saturated with these solutions finished in the usual way. Compared to this two-bath process, the process of the present invention has the great advantage that it can be carried out in the one-bath process, specifically in the acidic range, which has not yet been possible. For example, 100 kg of already pretanned, pressed leather are retanned with 100% of a 20 'B6 strong quebracho extract. The extract is mixed with the degraded protein products (20%) before entering the barrel and then added to the leather. After about 2 hours of fulling in the acidic area, the tannin-protein mixture is completely absorbed. The songs are taken out of the barrel, gently pulled through water and then, as usual, processed further.

PATENT CLAIM: Further training of the process of the patent 685 744 for fixing tannins in leather pretanned in the usual way by treatment with dissolving protein breakdown products in the acidic range, characterized in that such protein breakdown products are used, which have a degree of degradation of less than 300/0, but of have at least 2oo / o.
