Description
2 AT 501 416 B12 AT 501 416 B1
The invention relates to a process for increasing the surface conductivity of hydrophobic polymers, in particular textile fibers, by treatment with an aqueous solution containing at least one salt, wherein the at least one salt contains at least one polymeric quaternary ammonium cation and at least one salt contains an organic anion. Moreover, the invention relates to the use of a substance mixture for a method for increasing the surface conductivity of hydrophobic polymers.
Hydrophobic polymers find inter alia. in the textile industry use, where they are processed, for example, to textile fibers. Such textile fibers can be prepared in a manner known per se, e.g. be further processed by weaving, knitting, stitching, etc. to so-called textile pieces or textiles. Such hydrophobic polymers as e.g. Polyamide, polyester or polyacrylonitrile, are poor electrical conductors and are therefore known to charge electrostatically on friction which causes charge separation. From this electrostatic charge results in the fabric several disadvantages, especially if it is to be worn on the body. It comes, for example, to unpleasant discharge effects with lightning and sparking as well as "crackling noises". Another undesirable effect that occurs is that such charged hydrophobic polymers are attracted to and then "stuck" to oppositely charged fabrics. Similarly, it may of course come to repel the textiles with the same electrical charge.
In order to avoid the unpleasant effects of such an electrostatic charge, one often restricts the combination of textiles or textile fibers and uses fibrous materials whose mutual electrostatic charging by friction is low. This complicates on the one hand the technical production of the textiles, since always attention must be paid to the selection of the fibrous materials. On the other hand, it does not prevent the wearer of the textiles from again bringing different textiles into contact and rubbing against each other, which in turn can lead to an electrostatic charge.
In the meantime, methods have also become known in which it has been attempted to increase the conductivity of hydrophobic polymers which are processed into textiles by incorporating or co-processing conductive materials (conductive polymers, metal fibers, etc.). However, this also limits the product design significantly and the processing is much more complex and expensive.
The treatment or impregnation of hydrophobic polymers with quaternary ammonium compounds, which increase the surface conductivity, is also known (see EP 471 137 A1). A disadvantage of such methods is that this impregnation is usually washed out after the first washing process and thereby lost. In addition, known impregnations often cause allergic reactions in the wearer of such a treated textile piece.
Die JP 58-015546 zeigt die Verwendung quarternärer Ammoniumkationen zur Imprägnierung von Textilien.JP 05-171570 describes an antistatic method in which a diallyldialkylammonium salt is sprayed onto a fiber, the antistatic coating being easily removable by simple washing. As the anionic component, halides, methylsulfate or ethylsulfate are described. JP 08-283785 describes cleaning agents, in particular for hydrophilic surfaces such as skin and hair, containing diallyldialkylammonium salts. DE 35 31 756 A1 describes a laundry detergent and softener composition which is used for cotton textiles. WO 97/16168 and US 4,832,872 show different detergents comprising diallyldimethylammonium ions. WO 2004/000373 describes the use of diallyldimethylammonium chloride for the disinfection of surfaces. JP 58-015546 shows the use of quaternary ammonium cations for the impregnation of textiles.
AT 501 416 B1The antistatic treatment systems of hydrophobic fibers available in the prior art therefore have different, significant deficiencies, e.g. lacking 3 AT 501 416 B1
Permanence in the following wash, unwanted antibacterial effect, lack of skin friendliness and irritation potential through the use of irritant ingredients, complex application and complicated application techniques (such as electron beam crosslinking and other fixing methods), complex application, unwanted color changes and a change in the feel of the textiles.
The object of the invention is therefore the development of a method and a mixture of substances for use in such a method for increasing the surface conductivity of hydrophobic polymers, in particular textile fibers, in which the problems mentioned are reduced.
According to the invention, this is achieved by treating the hydrophobic polymer with at least one salt, wherein the at least one salt contains at least one polymeric quaternary ammonium cation and at least one salt contains an organic anion, wherein the polymeric quaternary ammonium cation is a polymer and / or copolymer of a is a diallyldi-methylammonium cation-containing monomer and the organic anion is a surfactant anion.
Such a method has the advantage that it reduces the electrostatic charge by the surface conductivity is increased or the surface resistance according to DIN 54 345, about 108 to 109 ohms is lowered. At the same time, a hydrophobic polymer treated in this way has an increased washing resistance or washing permanence. That is, the applied static-reduction layer does not wash out again simply by washing. In addition, the application is very simple and there are no restrictions in combination with other materials.
It has proved particularly favorable if the diallyldimethylammonium cation originates from the polymerization of diallyldimethylammonium chloride (DADMAC). In contrast to processes with known quaternary ammonium compounds, polymers based on the diallyldimethylammonium cation have the advantage that they have a particularly high affinity for the hydrophobic polymer and adhere well to the surface. With the addition of an organic anion, for example. Of a surfactant anion, the adhesion of the quaternary ammonium ion is improved. By mixing the two components in a preparation according to the invention, a little soluble precipitate forms between the two organic ions in the preparation or in the application bath, while the inorganic counterions remain in solution. In the treatment bath, the limited soluble precipitate deposits on the fiber surface, where it forms a film with increased electrical conductivity. It has also proved favorable if the at least one polymeric quaternary ammonium ion is a copolymer of diallyldimethylammonium chloride and of at least one further polymerizable monomer, in particular acrylic acid and / or acrylamide. Of course, a copolymer of Diallyldimethylammoniumkations with other monomers in the context of the invention is provided. The examples given are given by way of example only.
Mixtures of similar composition, but for entirely different applications, for example, from DE 198 46 607 A1, US 6,489,286 B, EP 474 415 A2 and W01997 / 26860 A1 known. It has also proved favorable if the at least one organic anion is an organic sulfate and / or an organic phosphate and / or a phosphonate and / or a sulfonate. Conveniently, this organic anion has a hydrophobic residue which adheres to the surface of the hydrophobic polymer through hydrophobic interaction. It may, for example, be a surface-active anion. It has proven particularly favorable if the organic anion is a fatty alcohol ether sulfate, in particular lauryl alcohol ether sulfate.
4 AT 501 416 B1A preferred embodiment is that the first salt is polymeric diallyldimethylammonium chloride and the second salt is sodium lauryl alcohol ether sulfate. 4 AT 501 416 B1
In addition to the salts mentioned, as a counterion in the salt containing the diallyldimethylammonium ion, apart from chloride, it is of course also possible to use other counterions, e.g. Bromide, fluoride, sulfate, phosphate or organic anions. Analogously, not only the sodium ion but in particular the potassium ion or, in general, cations of the alkali metal and alkaline earth metal groups are suitable as countercation for the salt containing the organic anion. However, the counterions of the salts according to the invention can also be organic ions. In one embodiment it is also envisaged that only a single salt is used, in which the cation is a quaternary ammonium ion according to the invention and the anion is the corresponding organic anion according to the invention.
It has been found that the effect according to the invention is achieved in particular when the ratio of the cation charge of the polymeric quaternary ammonium ion to the anion charge of the organic anion is between 0.1: 1 and 1: 0.1, preferably between 0.5: 1 and 1 : 0.5, more preferably about 1: 1.
When used according to the invention, attention must be paid to the total ionic charge of the two oppositely charged mixture constituents, quaternary ammonium compound and anionic component. The mixture shall be calculated such that the ratios of the ionic charges (quaternary ammonium compound and anionic organic compound) introduced into the mixture by the components are within the prescribed limits.
The process according to the invention is, of course, replaceable for all hydrophobic polymers known in the textile industry, in particular if the hydrophobic polymer to be treated is polyamide and / or polyester and / or polyacrylonitrile and / or a copolymer thereof and also mixtures of these polymers with other textile fibers are used ,
Aramid, Polyethylen, Polyacryl, Modacryl, Polyvinylchlorid, Polytetrafluorethylen, Polyethylenterephthalat, Polyurethan, Baumwolle, Kapok, Jute, Leinenfasern, Wolle, Angora, Kashmir, andere Tierhaare, Cellulosefasern, Viskose, Cupro, Acetat, Triacetat, Modal, Lyocell usw. As other textile fibers, both non-hydrophobic and hydrophobic synthetic (= synthetic) and semisynthetic fibers as well as hydrophobic and non-hydrophobic natural fibers in question, such. Aramid, polyethylene, polyacrylic, modacrylic, polyvinyl chloride, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyurethane, cotton, kapok, jute, linen fibers, wool, angora, cashmere, other animal hair, cellulose fibers, viscose, cupro, acetate, triacetate, modal, lyocell, etc. It can In the context of the invention, therefore, both the pure hydrophobic polymer, for example, be treated as a fiber, as well as the treatment in an intermediate step of processing into a finished textile piece is possible. The treatment can also be used as a last step, ie on the finished textile piece, e.g. on stockings, done. The treatment of the hydrophobic polymer with a first salt containing the quaternary ammonium ion and a second salt containing the organic anion has also proved to be favorable, the first and second salt treatments being carried out separately, the order of the treatment being freely selectable ,
The method is ideally to be used in dilute aqueous solution at a temperature between 20 ° C and 100 ° C, preferably between 30 ° C and 60 ° C.
Between 0.05 × 10 -2 and 50 × 10 -2 mol cations of the polymeric quaternary ammonium ion are used per 1 kg of hydrophobic polymer to be treated, preferably between 0.5 × 10 -2 to 5 × 10 -2 mol cations per kg of fiber material.
An application may accordingly be e.g. by dividing the addition into the treatment bath in two steps. First step: adding the calculated amount of cationic component or anionic component and then second step: adding the calculated amount of anionic component or cationic component.
On the one hand, therefore, a process is conceivable in which at least two salts are used, of which at least one contains a corresponding quaternary ammonium cation (for example a (co) polymer of diallyldimethylammonium chloride, a) and at least one an organic anion (eg Sodium lauryl alcohol ether sulfate, b). The use and combination of several such cations or anions is conceivable. However, it is also within the meaning of the invention to use only a single salt (for example (co) polymer diallyldimethylammonium lauryl alcohol ether sulfate, c) and to prepare mixtures of a with b and c in different mixing ratios. Other additives are of course conceivable. The effect of the invention and the advantage of the invention will be shown by means of the following application examples.
