<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a hinge arrangement for cabinets made of metal or plastic, bel at least the rare heads are made of sheet metal, the front edges of which are bent back at least in a U-shape and preferably the door element is inserted between these bent-back regions of the side heads, the body-side hinge element is attached to the rear end of the rearward curved edge and at least projects into the bent-back region of the side heads with its receiving eye in the direction of the door element
So far, the hinge elements on the cabinet side have been attached directly to the bent back edges, which has the disadvantage that the entire forces that occur when opening and closing the door
and the load-bearing forces for the door are to be carried through the bent-back areas of the side heads. This training can therefore only be used for very light cabinets.
The invention has for its object to provide a simple design of the type mentioned, which can be used for steel cabinets of higher demands and wherein it is avoided that the entire forces are to be absorbed only from the bent area.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the hinge element on the body side has a projection which extends from the connection point between the edge of the bent-back side head and the hinge element to the metal sheet forming the side head and is connected to it. As a result, this extension lug at least partially forms a "closed profile" with the bent-back edge region of the side head and the sheet metal plate forming the side head, so that a substantially higher strength can be achieved in the region of the hinge.
This also avoids springing of the suspension of the door in the area of the fold, since due to the closure of this bent profile, the forces are also transmitted to the metal sheet by the extension, so that this also absorbs the load-bearing capacity of the door.
When the edge of the rare head is angled and flanged in addition to the door opening, the hinge element can advantageously be inserted into a recess in the flanging of the edge, which ensures that the exact location of the hinge element can be specified during the manufacture of the side head, so that it is attached the hinge element and when attaching, for. B. welding the same, by moving into the recess, a displacement of the element is prevented.
To further increase the strength of the hinge element and the door suspension, a bead can be pressed into the hinge element from the point of connection of the hinge element with the edge of the bent back head to the area of the receiving eye in the projecting part of the hinge element.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown. Fig. 1 shows a vertical section according to II of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a section along line 11-11 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 schematically shows a horizontal section through a box front part, the cut directly above the attachment of the body side ! gene hinge elements on the body.
With 1 and 2 the side heads of a box are designated, in the door area a door 3 inserted 1St. The front edges of the side heads 1 and 2 are bent backwards at bending points 4, 5 and 6, 7 respectively, the edge regions 8 and 9 being additionally angled and flanged to the door opening. The flanges are designated 10 and 11.
With 12 a hinge element is designated, which is attached to the edge 8 of the side head 1, u. in such a way that it is placed flat on the area angled inwards towards the door opening, u. In a recess 13 of the flange 10, the recess being dimensioned such that the rare edges 14, 15 of the body-side hinge element have little play with the boundary edges of the recess 13. From the connection point 16 of the body-side hinge element
12 with the edge area 8 extends an extension lug 17 in the direction of the side head 1 and is welded to it via a connecting strap 18.
The extension lug 17 thus closes the edge profile of the side head 1 and thus results in the strength of a closed profile at least in the area of the hinge.
From the connection point 16, the area 19 of the hinge element 12 projects into the door opening, which leads to an eyelet 20 which receives the axis of rotation for the door 3. A reinforcing bead 21 is stamped between the connection point 16 and the area of the eyelet 20.
In the present case, a so-called "hump welding method" is used to fasten the hinge element 12 on the body side. that is, regions 22 are embossed on the hinge element 12, which protrude from the rear of the hinge element in the raw state as a hump. The protruded hump material is then used as a smoldering material for connection by a resistance welding process. When welding, the edge region 8 of the side head 1 is first bent slightly towards the front edge of the side head 1, u. between the thickness of the hump, after which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
then first the tab 18 with the side head 1 z.
B. is connected by resistance welding and then the connection area 16 between the element 12 and the edge area 8 of the side head is also connected by resistance welding, whereby the material pressed out during stamping welds and the plane contact of the hinge element 12 shown in FIG. 2 on the corresponding parts of the rare head 1 is reached.
The storage of the door has a receiving box 23 which is connected to the door 3 or the bent area 24. This receiving box 23 has bores in which the connecting axis introduced into the eyelet 20 is rotatably supported 1 st. In a manner not shown, this connecting axis can be a hollow eyelet, the ends of which are crimped outwards outside the receiving box 23 in order to prevent the connecting axis from falling out. The position of the door is secured by raising the inner rare flanks of the box 23 on the side flanks of the eyelet 20.
In Flg. 3 shows a door inserted into the door opening. With a corresponding change in the shape of the front area of the hinge element 12, the pnnzip according to the invention could also be used for doors hitting the front side of the side flanks 1, 2.
