Abstract
Description
Nr. 389969No. 389969
The invention relates to a device for inductive heating of a metallic workpiece with at least one induction coil receiving a workpiece, which can be connected to an electrical supply network via a control switch, in particular a thyristor switch, and with a control device for the control switch. 5 With inductive heating of metallic workpieces, the so-called skin effect results in an uneven current density distribution of the induced eddy currents over the cross section of the workpiece, which results in a correspondingly uneven heating of the workpiece over its cross section. In order to obtain a uniform workpiece temperature over the entire cross section, it is known (DE-PS 1 286 664) to warm up the workpiece quickly with full power and thereby overheat in the area of the workpiece surface, so that on the one hand the workpiece core is brought to a higher temperature level and on the other hand during the subsequent cooling of the outer workpiece layer with heat being released to the core Temperature compensation can take place. In order to avoid such overheating of workpiece areas, it is also known (AT-PS 365 028) to repeatedly interrupt the full power supply as a function of the temperature difference between the outer layer and the core of the workpiece, 15 because it has been found that the course of heating increases of the core does not change significantly, but that the outer layer of the workpiece can be warmed up considerably more slowly due to the cooling periods during the power cut-off, which enables the heating curve of the outer layer to be adapted to the heating curve of the core, without an extension of the heating time, because during the Switch-on times the full electrical power is always supplied. Since the temperature difference between the outer layer and the core is small when the final temperature is reached by the outer layer due to the adaptation of the heating curve of the outer layer to the heating curve of the core, the compensation period also remains small.
35 Die Erfindung löst die gestellte Aufgabe dadurch, daß für die der Induktionsspule zugeführte Energie ein an einem Rechner angeschlossener Zähler vorgesehen ist und daß der Rechner die Steuereinrichtung für den Steuerschalter in Abhängigkeit von der Differenz zwischen der durch den Zählerstand erfaßten, dem Werkstück zugeführten Wärmemenge und dem programmbedingt aus eingebbaren Werkstückdaten für einen Sollerwärmungsverlauf unter Berücksichtigung der auftretenden Wärmeverluste errechneten, zeitlichen 40 Wärmebedarf des Werkstückes steuertIn order to take advantage of such heating of a metallic workpiece and to be able to maintain narrow tolerance ranges for the final temperature and its distribution over the workpiece cross-section, 25 it is necessary to record the heating curve of the core, which, in contrast to the heating curve of the workpiece surface, does not immediately exceed a temperature measurement can be determined. Only the front sides of the workpiece are available for this purpose, but because of the heat dissipation effective in the end region, they cannot give an exact picture of the temperature distribution over the cross section. 30 The invention is therefore based on the object to avoid these shortcomings and to improve a device for inductive heating of a metallic workpiece of the type described above with simple means so that a certain heating curve is maintained for a metallic workpiece and ensures a desired end temperature with high accuracy can be, namely at a predetermined maximum temperature difference between the outer layer and the core of the workpiece. 35 The invention solves this problem in that a counter connected to a computer is provided for the energy supplied to the induction coil and that the computer controls the control device for the control switch as a function of the difference between the amount of heat detected by the counter, the workpiece and controls the temporal heat requirement of the workpiece, which is calculated from the workpiece data that can be input for a target heating curve, taking into account the heat losses that occur
The invention is based on the knowledge that with a given device for inductive heating of a metallic workpiece, the heat losses can be calculated with high accuracy, so that due to the law of the heating, the temporal energy requirement for a desired heating process of the workpiece is determined and the energy supply to the induction coil depending on it, 45 can be controlled. Since the electrical energy supplied to the induction coil can be measured simply and precisely, the control of the energy supply depending on the energy requirement calculated taking heat losses into account makes it possible to achieve the desired end temperature while maintaining a predetermined, maximum permissible temperature difference between the core and to reach the outer layer of the workpiece within narrow tolerance limits without having to record the temperature profile 50 of the core or the outer layer. By controlling the energy supply, fluctuations in the supply network cannot have a disruptive effect on the heating process of the workpiece in the sense of an increase in the tolerance range.
Since the heat demand from the workpiece properties and the heat losses occurring can be determined mathematically for a target heating curve of a workpiece under given induction conditions, 55 this calculated, temporal heat requirement can be presented to the control device for the control switch as a reference variable in order to supply the energy to the induction coil required for the desired heating curve to be controlled with the aid of a target / actual value comparison. In the case of a computer program which considers the device-specific parameters to be constant, above all with regard to the heat losses, only the workpiece data relating to the workpiece dimensions, the 60 material properties of the workpiece and the workpiece initial temperature need to be entered as a variable in order to supply the energy to the induction coil with a view to a desired heating curve to a predetermined final temperature of the workpiece via the computer and the control device for the -2-

Control switch to control, which makes an otherwise necessary, but not sufficiently accurate monitoring of the temperature profile or the temperature difference of the core and outer layer of the workpiece unnecessary. Although thyristor switches are particularly well suited for switching high electrical outputs, other control switches can also be used if they meet the requirements regarding the size of the energy to be switched and the switching time.
The subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing, for example, namely a device according to the invention for inductive heating of a metallic workpiece is shown in a schematic block diagram.
The device shown for the inductive heating of a metallic workpiece essentially consists of at least one induction coil (1) which is connected to a supply network (3) via a transformer (2) with the aid of a circuit breaker (4). A control switch (5) in the form of a thyristor switch, which is actuated by a control device (6), is used to control the energy supply to the induction coil (1). In order to compensate for the high inductive load, two capacitors (7) and (8) or capacitor groups are connected in parallel to the induction coil (1), of which one capacitor (8) can optionally be switched on and off via a switch (9) .
45 50 55 -3- 60The control switch (5) is controlled as a function of the energy supplied to the induction coil (1). For this purpose, a counter (10) is provided, which is connected on the one hand to a current transformer (11) arranged in the primary circuit of the transformer (2) and on the other hand is connected to the voltage of the supply network (3). The respective counter reading is read into a computer (12), in which the temporal heat requirement required for a specific heating profile of the workpiece is calculated. While the device-dependent parameters, such as size and structure of the induction coil, electrical resistance of the coil, coil voltage, frequency, dimensions of the protective tube between the induction coil and the workpiece, thermal conductivity of the individual structural parts, forced cooling of the induction coil u. Like. Can be regarded as constant and to determine the heat losses through heat radiation and heat conduction contained in the computer program, the workpiece-related parameters, such as the workpiece dimensions, the material properties with regard to permeability, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and the like. Like., Entered as a variable via an input (13) in the computer (12), in addition via an input (14) the starting temperature of the workpiece and via an input (15) the desired end temperature with the permissible temperature difference between the core and the outer layer of the workpiece. With this data, depending on the program, taking into account the heat losses that occur, the temporal heat requirement required for a desired heating process can be calculated and presented as a setpoint to the control of the energy supply, so that with the aid of a setpoint / actual value comparison, the energy to be supplied for a planned heating process can be set via the control switch ( 5) can be controlled precisely. 35 It does not need to be particularly emphasized that not only one induction coil (1), but also a number of induction coils can be used in order to supply different amounts of energy to the workpiece, for example in the case of rod-shaped workpieces, in axial sections and thus also to the workpiece with a predetermined temperature profile to be able to heat the axial length. The compensation time required for a permissible maximum temperature difference between the core and the outer layer of the workpiece after the end of the energy supply to the induction coil (1) is determined by the computer, which can be used to control a Weikstückförderer, whereby the dwell time of the workpiece in the induction furnace is specified precisely. 45 50 55 -3- 60
