The invention relates to a ski boot shell, in particular made of plastic, which has a slot on the front, the wheels of which are spaced apart and which is covered by a tongue made of a material whose Shore hardness corresponds at least to the Shore hardness of the shell , wherein this tongue is held against the shell by hold-down devices in the instep area, the tongue being articulated to the shell at the front end and preferably held down in the upper area by a cuff or the like. In such ski boot shells, entry is made easier through the slot, and this slot is covered by the tongue in order to prevent snow from penetrating into the shell.
Because the Shore hardness of the tongue corresponds at least to the Shore hardness of the shell, this tongue stiffens the shell. This tongue was usually placed or pushed onto the bowl. Furthermore, designs of tongues have already become known, the tips of which have joints for opening the tongues. Finally, elastic clamping of the tongue tips and designs are known in which transverse slots in the tongue are intended to increase the mobility of the tongue. The hold-down devices are designed as buckles or drawstrings. Such buckles on the one hand complicate handling when putting them on and also represent parts to which the snow preferentially attaches and can give rise to disabilities and falls.
The invention now aims to make such a shell with a slot, which is covered by the tongue, simpler and more elegant, to avoid buckles on which the snow can settle in the instep area and to make it easier to put on the ski boot. The invention essentially consists in the fact that the hold-down device is formed by at least one part rigidly connected to the shell, in particular at least one part which is molded or molded onto the shell and which partially overlaps the tongue in the closed position. The tongue is thus held down at the articulation point and preferably also at the upper end by the cuff or the like. However, especially when the skier is lying back, it has the tendency to move between the upper end and the articulation point, i.e. H. So in the instep area to stand out.
Therefore, according to the invention, the hold-down device is preferably provided at a distance from the articulation axis of the tongue at least in the instep area. Because the hold-down device is formed by a part rigidly connected to the shell, which partially overlaps the tongue in the closed position, a hold-down device of the tongue is made possible in the middle region in a simple manner and without actuation of buckles or straps. By eliminating such buckles or straps, a smooth instep surface of the shoe can also be made possible. The hold-down device can be formed from riveted metal parts. According to the invention, however, the holding-down device is expediently formed by at least one part molded or molded onto the shell.
The tongue can be pivoted up about a transverse axis parallel to the plane of the sole, the hold-down device with the slot edge of the shell being laterally elastically bendable into a position releasing the tongue. With such a design, the hold-down device according to the invention can be formed by two claws that cross the tongue on both sides. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the tongue on its surface has depressions extending from its side edges, the depth of which corresponds to the thickness of the claws, the claws

md which can be elegantly designed.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the slot edges have an undercut, at least over the substantial part of their length, which overlaps the tongue edges in the closed position. If the tongue now protrudes over the surface of the shell, only edges appear which are in the direction of travel and therefore do not interfere. However, the arrangement is preferably such that the tongue edges have, at least over the substantial part of their length, an edge which is offset to a smaller thickness and which is overlapped in the closed position with the edge of the slot, the surface of the tongue being flush with the surface of the shell in the closed position , so that here again a completely smooth instep surface of the shell is created.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the arrangement is such that the undercut on the edge of the slot is formed as a groove and the edge of the tongue

The claw --14-- can also protrude over the surface of the tongue-13- not to be weakened.
In the case of the embodiments, it is also possible to arrange a heel strap --18--, which is indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 2. This heel strap is arranged in the drawings of FIG. 2 on the right side of the shell within it and is fixed on the left side of the shell by a tensioner.
Fig. 5 shows another embodiment in which a relatively thin tongue --19 - made of rigid material, for example also made of metal, such as aluminum, is inserted into grooves --21-- provided on the slot edges --20--.
